Just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for telling me that T ruler exists. I have just had a custom generated pattern made for an exhibition project and it has 34,296 cuts! I'm purchasing one of these to save myself massive heartache and sore eyes 🤣

Hi, thank you very much, great videos to understand how to start and develop book folding. One question. How do you decide the depth of the fold? You use the width of your ruler. Does it work the same way for all designs?

Hello, and thank you for watching. Yes, you are correct. The width of your ruler will automatically determine the depth of the folds as you work. The ruler-against-spine method of folding will work for all designs.

Hi, quick question. I just finished marking the “Pray” design and as I began to fold the pages I noticed that at about the 10th fold that I had skipped a page that I did not mark. What is the best way to resolve this issue. Thank you.

Hi, Eric. In that situation, I use scissors to cut out the skipped, unmarked page. Start at the bottom edge of the page, about a half-inch away from the spine. Cut straight upwards to the top edge of the page. It’s okay if the cut edge is jagged. The cut edge will “disappear” into the completed folds on either side of it. You won’t be able to see it when you set the completed book upright. Thanks for watching and thank you for your order. 👍

Would love to try this... in time. I do have a question though about finding where to find a good starting point and IF it would actually work cause in my mind it seems like it would be a really simple way of making sure everything even but in practice, who knows but.... why no start from the MIDDLE of the book and work your way outward on each side therefore working your way toward the front and back covers.

Hi, Eddie. Open the PDF of the Book Folding Guide that was included with your order. Scroll down to the bottom half of page 12. There you’ll find info about how to calculate the Start Page for a book with a Preface or Introduction. You can use the same method if your book has an Afterword, too.

Hi! I'm using a 734 pg book bc the book itself has emotional value to the person I'm making it for. I was going to skip the first 100 pages and then begin with the pattern. Does this sound about right to you? Or, should I simply begin the pattern on the first page of the book regardless of the amount of pages? Thank you so very much!!!!

Thank you so much! I buy most of my books used, from thrift shops and used bookstores. Look for biographies and histories. Books in those genres usually have higher page counts than others. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, no, the ruler in inches will not work for my patterns. The patterns’ measurements are in centimeters and millimeters. You’ll need the 300 mm Incra ruler shown in this video. I’ve put a link to it on Incra’s website in the Description. Book folding patterns rarely use inches. They almost always use centimeters/millimeters.

Hi, Liz. You’re welcome. Thank you for watching. It takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours for me to fold a book. The time depends on how many folds are required in a pattern. For the Family pattern seen in this video, it took me about 5 hours to fold it. You may be able to fold it faster. I like to take my time, work slowly, and enjoy the process. 🙂

Hi, Dawn. You can gently tap an ink pad on the edges of the finished folds. I’ve also seen folders apply colored mica powder to the edges of the pages before folding them. The mica powder adds a subtle shimmer of color. Thanks for watching.
