The ordinary discontinued the ascorbic acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%. They do carry the Alpha Arbutin 2% alone on its own (which I purchased). what product do you recommend in place of 8% ascorbic acid? I’m trying to follow this regime for my hyperpigmentation skin problem and purchased all the other products except the discontinued ascorbic acid 8% combo

This product really worked for me. It cleared out my late 30's, still acne-prone, skin. Whenever I'd miss a refill I'd break out. I've a been a little stressed lately with the state of the company's ownership threatening its existence because this has worked like magic for me. I've been trying to figure out what the star ingredient is in this magic pill (for me lol) so that maybe I can find it elsewhere. I've been pretty unsuccessful cuz I'm not a chemist. This video helps me understand better than Google lol. Thanks 🙏🏻

Thanks for video! It’s timely again for summer to fall season. I liked hearing about your facial oil massage mix of grape seed oil, rose hip oil and jojoba oil. Do you have any rough percentage recommendations for these three oils? Would it be ok to add the ordinary’s resveratrol and ferulic acid product? It has propandiel as the third and primary ingredient.

That’s a good tip about starting an active at a time… If I’m on retinol (hypothetically) but want to start a 15% vitamin c product, should I be stopping the retinol product so I can isolate the effects of vitamin c?

I have been using adapalene (retinoid) and do feel like my skin is drier than normal. Maybe it would have been better to follow your advice about starting off slow, month by month.
@yakata79Ай бұрын
Wow thank you for taking the time to put together this routine! That’s very thoughtful to consider the onboarding process for new retinol users There’s been a few changes since this video though: The Ordinary has discontinued 8% Ascorbic Acid + 2% Alpha Arbutin. They still sell the 2% Alpha Arbutin + HA in the aqueous solution though. I don’t know if the 15% ethylated ascorbic acid is new or old but it’s out of stock online. They have released two new cleansers and two new moisturizers when they only had one in each category before. Now there’s an additional one targeting oily and dry skin. Additionally they will be releasing a fourth lotion for body (soft release last month). Just last month they have released a new 5% niacinamide product in a lightweight lotion marketed for face and body. They have also made the glycolic acid cheaper in a new two pack (full and travel size for only $15)! Hooray! The rumor is the azelaic acid product is a bit upgraded with better texture (unannounced) since the start of this year (2024). And there’s a new 0.2% retinal product. Do you have any new suggestions given these changes?

Interesting! I haven’t heard of azelaic acid as the top recommendation for hyperpigmentation. Do you like it in particular because it also has anti redness properties? I did buy the ordinary azelaic acid as I heard it had an unannounced formula upgrade this year to make its texture less gritty. I think the texture is nice. But I remain confused about what the product is for or how to use it so your recommendation gives me some encouragement.
@KennaWhitnellАй бұрын
Some people find it really useful for managing mild acne, rosacea and hyperpigmentation. For me it definitely helps with all three so it is a one stop shop vs using individual products/ ingredients to address each concern which sometimes can end up irritating the skin and making any one of those issues worse.
@yakata79Ай бұрын
@@KennaWhitnell I’ve gone over to your The Ordinary hyperpigmentation routine video and found your explanations about azelaic acid helpful there, thank you! At 10% azelaic acid, would you consider it essential to apply it both morning and night, no matter which benefit is hoped for (hyperpigmentation, acne, redness)? If not, is there a preference between applying azelaic acid either morning or night time? Does azelaic acid have any kind of antioxidant properties for instance which would be a nice booster for daytime use?
