I'm stunned several of these werent a thing already, better than never I guess. The hairloss part makes me hope MLMs are forced to deal with the reality of their products more

The fda doesn’t care. This is about lining the pockets of big corps which will hurt small businesses bc this is where it’s going….They will start to require all businesses including small businesses have their products overlooked by an assessor which is not cheap. MoCRA does talk about businesses that revenue under 1 million in three years will be exempt from certain parts of this. They should be requiring more transparency with full informed consent of what the product is in English to help consumers.

This is good in the long term. We don't know where things are produced and what is in them unless we dig. Until recently, I didn'r realize how lax the US is about a lot of things health, food, and cosmetics wise compared to other countries. Other countries are proactive, we are reactive and let items go on the market based on "unlikely probability to be harmful". As a consumer I sometimes don't take time to know and often assume things are safe. When you see safety warnings like California Prop 65 for plastic or lead on the package you kindof ignore them because it is on everything you consume. If the manufactures are compliant, regulars will hopefully hone in on the items/chemicals that are unsafe before they hit the market.

As a nail enthusiast who's been looking into all the nail allergies that have been cropping up with gel polish lately, that's where my mind goes first. Do cosmetic products have to be FDA compliant to be sold in the US? I feel silly for not knowing this lol but I didn't think they were regulated by the FDA unless they were considered medications or whatever. Interesting video!
@KennaWhitnell Жыл бұрын
Yes they have to be FDA compliant but because there are no mandatory product registrations right now this is very hard to monitor and they are not actively regulated by FDA currently - which will change with this new proposed legislation
@alexalemon7821 Жыл бұрын
Seems they are making the laws much closer to laws around medication
@KennaWhitnell Жыл бұрын
Definitely a bit closer to OTC products for sure but the facility requirements for CGMP probably won't be as strict as OTC / prescription drugs. However, this is yet to be determined what the requirements will be
@lmsmith2170 Жыл бұрын
From what I read you do not have to register a cosmetic or soap if there aren't any type of medical claims like anti acne or dandruff relief. It can be formulated with raw materials at home and bottled without registration. The labels have to be compliant but that's it.

I think this is great! Healthy is in first place. The thing is, how much it will cost for a small business? And also, how the processes will be like? Normally it makes our life, as a small business owners, much harder.
@SudsNSkinNaturals5 ай бұрын
I don’t think the compliance in the law have changed however, if you think that FDA registration is about natural products, they not they’re only about products that got drugs in it. Heavy metal in there so registration don’t mean that the company is doing their job even though I am in compliance.

I don't really trust the FDA. The FDA receives almost half its funding from companies it regulates. But I am glad they are changing how cosmetics are regulated.
@ThankYouJesusTheChrist Жыл бұрын
Is it free to register your manufacturing with the FDA? I couldn’t find this info in your links, thanks!
@KennaWhitnell Жыл бұрын
Not sure yet but if it's anything like Canada registration is free. However the CGMP that rolls out later may have a fee but again none of this is known yet

Shut up! It's just a bi*ch conrrol move by the government who gets kick backs from the big companies like LOREAL and the beauty conglomerates that lobby. Proctor & Gamble (pharmaceutical drug company that makes cosmetics)

With these regulations already being done in Canada is still reasonable to run a home based business or should I start looking for a commercial space?
@KennaWhitnell Жыл бұрын
You can do it from home if you have the proper space allocated to the business and are following health/ safety and good manufacturing practices

Hi guys, i am new in Canada. Where do you buy skin care products from? 😊

Most of the best products you will be able to find at Shoppers Drug Mart! Of course we order online a lot here as well. Sephora is an option too but I definitely enjoy many drugstore brands and they are excellent.

@@ServetheWORD The ingredients of these products that you put on your skin can be absorbed into your body, similarly to ingesting FOOD and DRUGS. Now, the dose makes the poison, but that’s exactly why it’s a step in the right direction that these products are finally being regulated.
@ServetheWORD Жыл бұрын
@@lauren1218 some cosmetics should be granted a lighter degree of regulation if all-natural. Ours are literally just goat milk & fragrance and mica, & this will drown out many small business owners in 5 years if they take enforcement seriously. The idea is managing chemical compounds & testing safety for those but pet me tell you the implications of this is very un-realistic for a small company making batches of less than 100 per time. Samples for 2 years, documentation? Beat we can do is log lot#’s feom suppliers on each batch and denote batch dates & hope they nevee come for us for not doing enough
