Why is this English accents so ridiculous? Can't you just pronounce the words as they are written and also read as they are written. It doesn't make any sense this way.

As a native speaker I'd like to say that this is very good advice. I think non-natives often have pronunciation that is "too good" and enunciate far more than natives do, and even if their English is really good it's still clear they aren't entirely comfortable with it.

As an American, I felt self-conscious of our struggles with the letter T and I had to explain that when teaching English as a foreign language. I had to tell the class, it's not correct pronunciation, but that's how we say it.

That's why English doesn't make sense to a lot of people British or American.
