How much commission was paid for the video? Are we as humanity already degenerated to such an extent that we already want to have imperfect software tamper with people?

You wonder if you'd be persuaded to go back because of a bonding exit talk, while that's not a good idea? I'd say if you're concerned about that maybe dont do it.. i think a talk like this with an ex is pretty rare. I didnt have this with any of my other exes. I stayed friends with this one :-)

Ahhhh i feel torn too. I hear commenters highlighting the addiction of the technical world. And i hear the fear that people experience because everything they do can be captured and used against them. And, sometimes it isnt possible to receive outside empathy and i struggke to connect to my own feelings and needs. So hoping this might help. That said, i asked it too many questions yesterday for the free version. 😂😂

I got a tip for you dear. The microphone you're using is designed to clip onto your clothes around the area of your chest. It is sensitive enough to capture every word you say even at that distance. When you hold it right in front of your mouth the sound gets distorted and it sounds like you're spitting into it. You have really beautiful hair. ♥

Wow! Feeling all sorts of feelings right now. I've worked in schools for decades and have seen how quickly the internet has ruined human interaction. So on one hand I hate it and it's scary and it could isolate us even more (if that's possible). But on the other hand, it's better than nothing, AND I can see sharing this with school administrators so they can see how powerful it would be to train the entire staff on NVC. Thanks for sharing this. . . And for you, I don't know if you have read Gabor Mate's latest book, but the thesis is that we are all living in an unnatural world which is affecting all our our collective mental/emotional health. I wish you profound connection.

@@CupofEmpathy Thanks for asking... briefly and quickly--- They build intimacy with machines rather than humans, scrolling and gaming as their #1 activity. They miss the electro-chemical-neurological event that happens when people meet in person. Their brain is flooded with dopamine, they have no room for serotonin. They don't know the wonderful satisfaction of 'working hard at work worth doing'. They have little appetite for a ‘normal’ life. They all believe they have an anxiety disorder because they have no skills in conversation. They have few conflict-resolution skills. Social media makes it difficult to engage in any sort of long-form discussion, so interactions are reduced to sound bites and zingers. Internet connectivity has enabled us to further leave our tribe. Instead of being very important to a few, they feel that in order to be of importance, they need to be famous. They compare themselves not with the other kids in school, but with the coolest people in the world, who have stylists and shoppers and cosmetic surgery. So, they have little appetite or satisfaction with a 'normal, humble life'. Real friendship takes a lot of work, is not as exciting as TikTok, so why bother? But probably the most heart-breaking for me. . . They cannot be vulnerable (human) because anything they do or say at any minute can be shared, permanently, across the globe, exposing them to vicious ridicule from seemingly the entire planet. So, many retreat into the safety of irony, which is the enemy of sincerity, which is the enemy of connection, which is humanity’s #1 need. And that explains the profound increase in mental health ‘disorders’. To quote Robert Bly, “We have drunk beer for so long, we’ve forgotten the taste of real wine.”

@@CupofEmpathy And Mate’s book. So many amazing ideas: On addiction: It’s hard to get enough of something that almost works. On culture: the quality of a culture is measured by how well it meets the needs of the people. Our culture is a fight between belonging and authenticity, and both are losing. The difference between happiness and pleasure Disconnection in all its guises--alienation, loneliness, loss of meaning, and dislocation--is becoming our culture’s most plentiful product. Our modern lives are unnatural from in utero to grave: from stressed mothers living away from extended family giving birth in hospitals, to eating industrial food, being raised in schools among strangers, meaningless careers focussed not on contribution but on acquisition. . . And so many more. . . And very well-written: full without being dense, at times poetic without being flowery.

Most AI LLMs are aligned to be very agreeable. You are essentially talking to yourself with the addition of some internet searches. When interacting with your own imagination does not result in a a tearful truth, then externalizing is helpful, even when we only externalize to collective intelligence and not another human or just to our diary. I suggest using care and recommend AIs like Claude that are aligned and trained with principles you agree with unless you are strong enough to be challenged.

It hurts me to hear "you can only keep on your mask for so long", like you are coming from an idea of intentional consious harm that this traumatised person is planning to give you.
@CupofEmpathy
@CupofEmpathy Ай бұрын
I hear that my words 'one can only keep a mask on for so long' are hurtful for you, it seems to imply that people with NPD intentionally harm others, whereas they actually come from a place of trauma, and thus, I guess you want to emphasize, have more unconscious or automatic behavior as opposed to malignent intent. I totally agree with you that people with NPD mostly are not coming from a goal to harm others, they are just trying to get their needs met best they can, and as I say elsewhere in the video, just want to avoid being in pain. And in so far as sometimes the intent might be to hurt someone, for example to take revenge, which might be the case esp. where NPD is mixed with anti social disorders, the 'causing harm' is still not the end goal, it's again just a way to compensate for trauma. But in short, I agree with you, Im sorry that this was not clear in that expression.

And it requires vulnerability, while narcissists suppress a core of deep shame, so being vulnerable feels like 'dying' for them. It's good t say "I need your help" before a request. So "can you please drive slower" doesn't sound like an attack or a judgement, but really like a request, that is not putting the other down, but actually gives them power: you have the power to help me.
