I had this game as a teenager. I hated the hp drain effect but tried to soldier through it. Then I got to the part where you do a fetch quest for the professor...only to be rewarded by being sent to backtrack across the entire game world to get something else for him. Dropped the game then and there. Never looked back.

I remember this game, I was really excited about it, because I was big fan of the new lunar series. I played it for about 30-45 minutes until I ejected it out of my ds while it was running and tossing it across the room as hard as I could. I believe that's the first instance in my life, where I got actually gotten mad enough at a game so much that I wanted to destroy it. I never went looking for it after I did that, It would be years later until I found it by Accident while cleaning. When I did, I toss it again across the room out of rage of my memories of it. They had a vote for the name of the game on their sites. I did that vote, but don't remember which one I voted for. Only if i could read the future, I would have voted it to be call "Avoid This", What a disappointing game...

idk what is hard about this game, you shouldnt run if your Gear aint busted and you aint blowing your gold when you can accumulate it. yes you'll be grinding with the cheapest gear, but honestly Hoshi wo Miro Hito is far worse. No Inn save from the First Village, Villages are hidden in the Overworld and there's no Healing Magic, meaning you'll be spending money on Heals throughout the game. oh yeah, and your HP meter is partially hidden, only showing how many Tens of HP you have. meaning if you have 100HP, it'll display as 10 in Battle.

Wait I actually loved this game when I was little. Back when I was like, seven! Holy frick, I never thought I’d see it again. Yeah the whole running thing did suck though. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure if I played it again I’d find everything horrible, but dang did I have fun playing it.

Another really bad game is Unlimited Saga. The Romancing Saga series was always known for it's diffuculty curve and need for grinding to complete, that game was just torture. It was more about luck and random chance then anything else. As usual, it had multiple characters. Every single one had a moment where you needed luck to move forward. Traveling across the map like a board game, some missions were given a set number of moves before reset, usually just enough to find the exit. Missed one move? Restart (while shuffling the board, of course). Battle? Can't run, it's you or them. Every character has hit points and life points. Your chatacters lose all their hp, they take lp until zero (out of the fight for the rest of the mission). Enemies need to lose lp to be defeated, but only take lp damage randomly (zero hp only increases the chance of lp damage). You could waste an hour on the simplest enemy, or defeat a major boss in one round (however unlikely). Attacks use a roulette wheel to determine attack and damage (high "level" characters do get more chances, but still random), and it spins fast. Lastly, your weapons can break (like when you're forced to hit the same enemy 50 times to end a fight). Every character had a moment were I either got lucky, or lost hours of playtime to reloading after i was soft-locked due to lack of resources.

I'm curious but the animations look decent. It's possible that the company blew its budget on animating each action. As for the mechanics, yeah, I HATE it when games introduce random survival aspects such as breakable weapons. People don't seem to realize how hard it would actually be to break something that isn't cheap iron or wood.

Another RPG that you won't even get past the begining (most likely) is Unlimited Saga.. This Lunar game has really bad systems all mooshed together. Unlimited Saga takes very obtuse systems and mooshes them together, to the point you can't really understand the game and any game that requires this much dedication to understanding its mechanics just isn't worth playing.

I think that you talk about Hoshi Wo Miru Hito (or Densetsu no Kusoge aka. Legenary shitty game) .... It's A NES game release in 1987 ... NES have lots of release that year Metal Gear, Contra, Goonies II, Zelda II, Mega Man, Castlevania II, Rygar, R-type and Big RPG like Dragon Quest II AND Final Fantasy Hoshi Wo Miru Hito release that year japan only. Legenary shitty game born that year... It's kind of un-finish RPG with lots of bugs that release next to Dragon Quest II AND Final Fantasy.

Have played this as a kid but didn't finish. Honestly don't really remember all of this. If its just mechanics are bad, maybe a QoL rom hack is needed to fix these issues. This game doesn't seem terrible at it's core, I've seen much much worse RPGs out there.

One thing you forgot to mention is that when you level up, the enemies level up with you! So when you pick the exp option to try to grind, you quickly find out that the battles take just as long to complete and you're still doing and taking the same relative amount of damage. What's even better is that if you power level too hard, you invalidate what little the equipment gives you, meaning you're actively getting punished for leveling up. I made it to the second town and level 15 or something before I figured out what was happening and walked away from it.

RPGs that scale enemies to your level are so easy to fuck up. It wouldn't be so bad if it was only for the final area, but for the whole game??
@magolor1526 күн бұрын
@@rjante2236Generally speaking when developing games where enemies scale to your level, you need to make sure you have a safety net in place to make sure players understand the mechanic naturally in a way where the game doesn't punish them for over leveling Which is usually why most games where enemies level with you tend to give most enemies especially early game a maximum level they can be so it ensures that they have a hard limit to how strong they can be despite being able to get stronger
