Its been like that for deacdes. It's a company that can run but can't even walk. It's a company that views simple math logic as rocket science to the highest degree. I use to call myself a fan of Nintendo, but now I'm just a fan of thier products not the company itself. This generation, Nintendo has really been taking it the easy way and hasn't challeneged themselves to be a better more trustable company. Complacency is word I never thought I would never use to describe them until late. I'm honestly not suprised in the slightest that Nintendo a company twice as old as the gaming industry itself richer than all other companies in Japan gets the most FUNDAMENTAL, BASIC AND TRIVIAL aspects of business wrong and in the most embarrsing, boneheaded way possible. They really are the anti of professionalisim. But why keep complaining when it will continue to remain that way for them for years to come.

This just shows two things Xenoblade is a pretty big sized community not Mario or Zelda sized but it's a good size. The other thing is since it's not that big, what would happen if they tried this shot with like BotW2? The shit would explode your computer... Nintendo cant run their website worth a damn

I don’t know it that’s true. The best selling individual Xenoblade game (XC2) only sold 2~ Million copies. And even XC1, the best selling Xenoblade game overall (when you combine all releases) only sold around 3 million copies. Even 1-2 Switch beat that, and _no one_ bought that game. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Xenoblade fan that wants the series to get more popular. I just don’t think it’s there yet.

@@Terranigma23 - The numbers definitely aren’t bad, but they’re not as impressive as they could be. Even Pikmin 3 Deluxe, a game from a series that’s undoubtedly more niche than Xenoblade, only took a couple of months to sell 2 Million copies when XC2 took 5 years to sell that amount. And when you add the Wii U version’s sales? They _surpass_ XC1’s 3 Million total sales by about a quarter million. On a brighter note, Nintendo appears to be doing a better job promoting the series. XC3 appears to be taking what worked from previous games and leaving behind what didn’t. I’m very sure the series is about to become more popular, especially with the preferential treatment the series got in Smash.

@Inbar Shemesh - I agree that it’s not a bad amount of sales, but remember that even Pikmin 3 beat both XC2’s individual sales and XC1’s multi-platform sales and it was STILL considered to have underperformed. No Xenoblade game is even in the top 30 best-selling Switch games, and XC2 was one of the only JRPGs on the Switch for a long while.

I woke up around 7:30am (EST) and I knew damn well that this would be an absolute clusterfuck, so I just kept refreshing the page. For 6 hours. Around 1:30pm (EST), I got put in the waiting room hell for maybe a minute. When I got to the SE page, it had hit the item limit. I kept spamming the 'pre-order' button for like an hour. At one point, I got the notification of one being in my cart, when I went to my cart, it was empty. At this point, I gave up for a bit due to both irl stuff, and figuring I just wouldn't get another chance. Then I was scrolling the xenoblade sub around 6-7pm, heard people were getting the SE pre-orders, so I had both my phone and tablet sitting in the queue, and when I got in on my tablet, I managed to snag a pre-order, and spammed my info at checkout, got the order complete screen with all the info you'd expect, then about an hour ago, got the confirmation email. On one level, part of me loved this. The fucking journey to get this SE is something I'll never forget, and it helped me forge memories of XC3 before the game has even launched. (For reference, I was refreshing like crazy on June 8th in the middle of my lunch period and study hall, and that's when shit hit the fan that day). Now, that being said, What the actual fuck? We're literally trying to give nintendo our money and they're just like, "lol no" this was a fucking nightmare of a launch, one that could've been completely avoided if nintendo wanted to, but fuck me if I can't say part of me doesn't love it after I've got my confirmation of my order. It truly is a wild ride, this passage of pre-orders.

This is almost exactly what happened to me. I woke up at 8am, was constantly refreshing until 1:30pm, and wound up being in a waiting room for like 3 hours. I managed to get one into my cart but it was then sold out when I tried to check out. I accepted defeat and left for like 45 minutes. When I returned to my pc at like 5:30pm, for some reason I decided to see if it was still in my cart so I could just remove it. And it was no longer out of stock. I managed to check out without any waiting rooms or issues.

I love how the only way I've seen to be notified of its availability is via twitter and if you don't use twitter it's basically a massive f you. I don't see why it's so difficult to do something like email notifications or even give a release date a week or 2 in advance. I don't see why they can't do something like they did with the xcde special edition where it was available at multiple stores. I get they're trying to prevent scalping but I was able to get my copy just fine and I never heard of any massive debacle with its release like this.

The only reason I caught the second drop was because I decided to check the listing out of habit because I've been constantly checking it for the past 3 weeks. I did manage to get my hands on the special edition, but this is an embarrassing display from Nintendo. And the fact that the only thing they did differently was limiting it to 1 purchase per account is just a slap in the face to the people who wasted upwards of 9 hours last time.

The reason it's exclusive to Nintendo's store is because the Special Edition itself (besides the game) will be delivered Fall 2022, I guess because they weren't ready for the early July 29 release. The reasoning is fine I guess, but you'd at least think the website they have actually works but nope.

So its actually normal for product preorders/launches to come in waves, its an intentional way break balkers and allow the servers to catch up with duplicate entries, clear dead carts, cancel fraudulent or bounced purchase, etc. But thats usually for when people are actually ON the product page. The problem is that they paired this with a queue, an it would seem that when you miss out on one wave, being in the queue doesn't guarantee you're in front of the line for the next wave. I waited for 3 hours and nothing. When I noticed that some people where seeing delistings and relistings, as well as some that just walked right in and got it while others were still waiting, I decided that the when I see the next wave of successes I'll open two other browsers... and got in like 8 minutes later on BOTH. I left the first queue open just to see how long it would take... 2 MORE hours after I got it in the other browser. The queue actively tells you NOT to refresh, or you'll loose your place in line, but there wasn't a guarantee of that place to begin with. You HAD to refresh because the waves were essentially putting people diligently waiting to the BACK of the fucking line. Its absolute horse shit. You want to know how I got my PS5? I got in Sony's queue and waited. They had an alert system, and an alloted activity time to access the site free of traffic, IT WORKED. But I didn't actually make it in time... but you know what happened? Sony remembered my place in line, over months between the next drop, and gave me a front row seat... THAT is a fucking queue Nintendo, THATS how reservations work. Whats the point of a queue if its not actually a line, and the people you're letting through the gate are STILL too much for the POS system. If you have a queue, the website SHOULDN'T STILL BE CRASHING. If you have to be signed in, PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BE FORCED TO RE-ENTER THE QUEUE, should they ever need to refresh or double check their cart. Its pathetic.

Hey man, I'm in a similar boat. I had a moment to collect my thoughts after being frustrated and did a lot of sleuthing. Truth is, nobody that ordered a collectors edition is getting their art book before the fall. And if you look at the JP side they sell it separately, which leads me to believe that the US side will have the art books available through other means. I remember at one point I ordered the xc2 art book from Amazon.

This was the second time that this is happened as well, but I managed to make it to checkout...only to realize I never updated my address and despite doing that as fast as I can, right as I clicked "Purchase", it told me it ran out of stock...after wasting 7 hours of my life. Less than last time, but I feel horribly burned by all this that my one successful attempt at checkout amounted to nothing. And Nintendo being silent ALL DAY on this, not giving us a single update on things compared to last time, is just a big slap in the face to me. I personally just feel like they care little about those actually wanting this and more focused on it selling above all else.

I was on the website 2h before it came out today and got on it frame 1. I spent 3h watching the page saying I was in line and to not refresh this page before I had to give up and go to work. My friend got his version 10min later and I was so mad. 4 hours later (now 20h20 est) My friend asks me if I got mine and I say no. I still remember how they mishandled Skyward Sword. Pre-ordering the gold edition Wiimote was a nightmare, but if you wanted the matching gold nunchuck too, you had to order it specifically on Club Nintendo at the cost of 900 coins and your coins expired after a 2 year cycle AND it was only available in limited quantity. (50 Club Nintendo coins was the equivalent of a 50 dollar game before tax) My local gamestop was stealing coins from used games. Meaning I had to spend roughly the equivalent of 1000$ (with tax) on *select games in a 2 year period in order to have 900 coins AND I had to have the foresight not to spend my coins because Nintendo dropped the gold nunchuk out of nowhere. By comparison, it cost 400 coins in Japan if you registered the Skyward Sword game with Club Nintendo. Of course I missed the special edition Xenoblade 3 bundle as well, despite the fact that I had been checking and refreshing my Nintendo store every day 10 times a day.

Given the signs and the fact, that ONE DAY is not enough time to prep for a Pre-Order, I have no choice but to hope for a third round or be screwed. It really sets a negative precedent for the concept of limited editions, when in cases like these potential fans are lost out on because they can't get the cool stuff, and fans that are already on board are hurt by limited oppurtunities to embrace the things they like. fuck :(

@@Jenny-h9b8l The worst case scenario is that enough time will pass when the truly kind hearted will put high-effort scans of the artbook on the Internet and then we can freely hit the high seas. This is something that we already know will happen because they've done it already for the other Xenoblade games. However, that a MUCH, MUCH longer wait than the actual game release. Quality wise, it can be cumbersome too, as small text its difficult to read even on high-resolution screens. Also despite it being the Architect's work that people go out of their way to do that, it simply doesn't compare to having the actual artbook itself. But, oh well. I guess Nintendo doesn't want my $90, so "Yar-har" it is.

I had the oddest experience. I was able to get through the queue and click prepurchase like at 10:34 AM PST, but it wouldn't show up as being in the cart, so I clicked it again... then after some load time it showed two in the cart, but wouldn't let me remove, I tried multiple times for hours to get it down to 1. About 5 hours later I was able to get it down to 1 and proceed with check out but got the sold out message. For shits and giggles I tried a bit later, same thing, sold out.. but like 2 hours ago, it showed available again and according to my purchase history and an email from Nintendo it seems I did actually get it... Just the oddest thing.. I mean I shouldn't have had to be doing this around 6 PM PST... I shoulda had it done shortly after they opened the flood gates!

On 6/30/2022, I woke up at 7am to check on the special edition preorders. Throughout the day, and even through meals, I refreshed the page multiple times to no avail. Then, at 1:30pm, the gates opened. At first, I was put into the waiting room, staring at a red screen whilst a line of icons bounced up and down mockingly at me. And then, the page updated. I could click the preorder button to make my purchase. But to no avail. Clicks were made, but canceled all the same. Multiple times was I logged out of my Nintendo account. The number “2” hovered teasingly above the cart icon, but when I went to check on my cart, nothing would show up. Hours passed with me being put into more waiting rooms, and I resorted to watching the latest GDQ stream to pass the time while refreshing in vain (shoutouts to Enel, Chuggaconroy, and the other commentator I unfortunately don’t remember the name of for that Torna speedrun btw!). Then, at around 4 pm, the page to my cart, which I kept open on a separate tab, finally loaded. “One of your cart items is currently sold out. Please remove it to proceed to check out.” Wh… What was this? A feeling of despair washed over my body. Th-There was no way… The special edition was there _in my cart, and yet it was out of stock?_ *No, no!* _This couldn’t be real!_ I had waited for 6 hours since morning, and _this_ was the fruit of my efforts?! Surely, this was the end for me here. So close, yet so far from my goal. After refreshing my cart page in futility a few more times, I returned to the GDQ stream, my last refuge in this battle fought in vain... It was 6 pm, and I opened a new tab to tell the tales of my wounds to my discord friends. However, I had accidentally clicked on the bookmark I had for the preorder. A little mistake, no consequence to me at all, if only to act as a reminder of the traumas I had experienced 2 hours ago. But, something was different this time. There was _traffic_ on the website again. A new chance at my salvation. And so I waited for another hour. Waited with the GDQ stream on my left, and the red and white waiting room on my right. Waiting, in limbo, for the one chance I had. And then, the page updated. _The special edition was no longer out of stock. I could make my order._ At last, after 12 hours, my efforts paid off. But, at what cost? Thousands of fans still wait in that limbo disguised as a waiting room, and some run away with copies hoping to scalp off of others. There is only so much I can do as a human, as a mortal. All I can do is look forwards to the day that my copy comes to my door...

I was honestly so lucky. I was attempting to stay up all night in case they shadow dropped it at some early hour like 4-6 AM, but passed out at 4. I woke up at 12:30 and it didn’t go live until 1:30. I was checking constantly every fifteen minutes. I got it purchased at 3, but the stress and worry from this sucks. I can’t believe they let this happen twice. I was up at fucking 8 am today and had an extension refreshing the page every 5 seconds, then at 1:30, I had to have been one of the first ppl on the site to add it to my cart, but it wouldn't be until 6 PM that I could go to the cart. I was upset, sad, and hopeless this whole time. I heard it was sold out, and ALMOST closed it out but I decided I might as well wait and finally it went through. Every single issue that could happen happened, and it was genuinely the worst shopping experience of my entire life. Then even AFTER the confirmation kept disappearing from my account, and it wasn't for another hour that I would get the email.

Spending 5+ hours on two separate occasions just to come up empty handed, Nintendo's poor preparedness and lack of communication are the cause for the pain. It was an absurd experience. You either had to be lucky or performed the correct combination of odd page navigation until it magically let you progress further. Many who tried getting it the second it went up waited 5 hours and got nothing, while some just casually waltzed in and got it. It's kind of unfair to many people. I got the damned thing putting full time into both days but I'll never forget this experience, in a bad way.

I secured my copy MINUTES before I had to leave for work, I'd been up since 9 in the morning and had work at 3, the entire time I was watching the red screen and refreshing the website, all that stuff I don't need to explain to a Xeno fan. My theory for why I secured my copy is my house has shit wi-fi rn, but where I was at eating before work I decided to try one last time before work just to meme myself, and with full bars, my website started to actually load the cart, and gave me the option to select a shipping method. NEVER saw that beforehand, I was actually deep down freaking out, I never got that far on June 8th or Today, but I finally was able to click Purchase and saw the screen. I wanted to cry lol, like even writing this I'm like "And I'm absolutely SURE I have a copy right??" When I certainly do, it's all so surreal to me lol, especially after waiting the 9 hours on June 8th all for nothing. I was like Jazz-handing in the restaurant trying not to freak out publicly lol

This is what happens when you don't update your website in about 10 years (or so people have been speculating). Though, it's rather stupid they didn't allow other stores like Best Buy, Wal Mart, EBGames, Future sho- oh wait that last one doesn't exist any more. My point still stands that releasing the pre order on their website only was a terrible decision. Part of the reason my have been because of the change in release dates. Unfortunately, Nintendo of America really doesn't seem to care about fixing any of its issues. It's like they never thought that Xenoblade would be this popular. Too bad we couldn't just order it from the Nintendo of Japan or Nintendo of Europe sites, since those ones actually seem work properly. Still, my heart goes out to everyone that had to go through the process for getting the special addition. Edit: All we can really hope for is that, somehow, Nintendo of Japan notices and smacks Nintendo of America upside the head so hard that it updates the website.

I had one of the scariest experiences of my life yesterday I waited in the queue right when they dropped for like 1 and a half hours and then when I had it in my cart the purchase button just would not work so I got put back in the queue and waited for hours and at like 5:40 my screen changed and said they were out of stock and I was so furious but then for no reason I went and checked the page for it again and I was able to buy one just fine

I'm glad some people were able to get their's but after waiting 8 hours I got in only for it to immediately sell out. And I know a ton of people who quit after their first 3 or 4 hours of waiting, and rightfully so. The whole process was so messy and frustrating, and many people won't even have a special edition copy to show for it, despite the hours they spent. Nintendo had weeks to fix their issues, but they hardly fixed much, and they surely didn't care anymore than they did the first time.

I managed to get a copy after they ripped it away from me earlier in the day, I sat with 5 windows open of the pre-order screen and the button just didn't add it to the cart, so I set my mouse to run a macro to non stop click the pre-order button, and checked my cart on my phone, and after 30 minutes of hyper clicks from the macro mouse I got one. this who ordeal took all day long. I honestly felt like I wasn't getting it, the macro idea was me giving up and trying something that I was convinced was dumb. what an exhausting day.

I was there on June 8 since minute 1 (Wario64 posted about the availability before Nintendo did) for the entire 10 hours and 20 minutes until Nintendo gave up and said they'd do it some other date. Today, June 30th, I once again checked in right when I was notified by Wario64, and while the site ran noticeably better (not good, but better) I wasn't able to get my copy until 5.5 hours later, barely before they sold out for the rest of the day. I really hope those that missed out will still be able to place an order on another day, preferably before release day.

The worst part is. The stock isn't limited. The special edition items haven't started production yet, they'll be produced based on the number of orders. There is no scarcity in the product for scalpers to take advantage of, only in the bullshit half a day pre-order windows. It's a 2nd level of artificial scarcity stemming from Nintendo still having the mindset of a mercury addled toy maker from the 1800s for no fucking reason.
