I feel so content after finishing Future Redeemed. Like I feel like I finished a major chapter of my late childhood (I was in high school when Xenoblade 2 came out) and can finally move on. It’s bliss. Beautiful game, amazing franchise.

Damn, I hate getting old seeing comments like this. I was in highschool when XC1 came out on the Wii.....in Japan. I was in college when it finally got a western release like 3 years later. I still remember going to GameStop to try and get a copy of Xenoblade thanks to the exclusivity of being GameStop only.

I love Gigachad Rex. But in the personality sense, Shulk being crafts-loving dad was peak time-skip character development and 100% fits him. Outside the Endless Now he definitely spent a lot of time working on gadgets with Nikol that reach such ambition it worries Nikol’s mother. (Hesitant on saying what character for those who haven’t gotten to play XC1, beware of replies.)

that blue light at the end might not be KOSMOS, the other alternative theory is that it's Elma coming to earth to warn of Samaar/Ghost war, bridging X's continuity into the main one now that the Earth is whole instead of split into Alrest and the Endless Sea. It could be either, which makes it so fascinating, exciting, and nailbitingly frustrating because it'll be years before we find out one way or another.

I've loved Xenoblade ever since I played the first game in 2021. It showed me the importance of expressing yourself and following your passions against the adversity of the world. Then Xenoblade 2 showed me how to appreciate and value things despite their many flaws and idiosyncrasies. Then Xenoblade 3 taught me how to find meaning in life. Future Redeemed encompasses all of these ideas near flawlessly, and is one of my favorite experiences I've ever had.

Honestly still amazed that takashi did it, tied the entire Xeno series together. Being such a huge gears fan I was loving the themes, art style and more being revisited during 3 and the dlc... Went way beyond that though with the ending and can't wait to see what's next..has the opportunity to take them all forward now.

Really the only thing I disliked about xenoblade 3’s story was the lack of lore explanation and how it seemed pretty disconnected from the previous games. Now I see that they just wanted the main game to be accessible for newcomers, they put all of the clues needed to figure out the lore and connections in Future Redeemed, and I love it so so so much. The fact that Pneuma was with us the whole time and we didn’t even realize it… I love it so much. Thank you Takahashi and thank you Monolithsoft

Don't forget how FR bridges both past games and XC3. Noah having Lucky 7 (which contains the souls/memories of the XC1 party and, on the other hand either Pneuma's core crystal or an essence of her power.

I agree with your comment on 3's chain attacks. There was something I didn't like about them that I couldn't put my finger on until Future Redeemed inspired me to play through Xenoblade 2 for the seventh time, they take so much time and are essentially just an instant win button. That's honestly why I think base XC2 has the best chain attacks in the series; they're as long or short as you want them to be, they aren't an instant win button unless you specifically set it up to be one, and they aren't spammable with little to no consequences like in Xenoblade 1.

in base xc3, i was doing the time challenges and realized that i couldnt chain attack if i wanted to hit the target time lol, it takes more irl time to deal the amount of damage necessary to kill enemies using chain attacks than just battling normally

@timestopmachinist5136 it's especially noticeable with the sheer amount of methods the game has to quickly pump out damage. Smash, art spam, Elemental Genesis, just to name a few. All of these things can end a superboss in less than a minute (some are faster than others, obviously) while chain attacks just take forever.

Definitely hoping for Xenogears and Xenosaga to be remade. Heck the Star Ocean 2 remake has a very similar visual style to what I'd like Xenogears to be remade with. Also the Baten Kaitos remaster is a good sign Xenosaga isn't too far behind. I want a remake of Xenosaga mostly to fix the issues with Episode 2, but I think episode 1 and 3 are straight up masterpieces and a remaster similar to what Baten Kaitos is getting would be just fine for Xenosaga. I do think Xenoblade X is probably going to be getting a Definitive Edition on it's 10th anniversary much like Xenoblade did, though I think it's a Switch 2 exclusive, so that'll probably happen in 2025 or 2026. I think that leaves enough time to release Xenogears in early 2024 and Xenosaga in late 2024 early 2025 if they've been in production. I'm thinking because Baten Kaitos is getting released first that at least Xenosaga's remaster has been in production, and I can see both Star Ocean and Xenogears remakes being in production at the same time if they're using the same engine and a similar style. There's definitely interest in both of these even among the shareholders at Square so I think at least one of them is happening in the next few years. This is me being very optimistic though, and I can see Xenoblade 4, X2, or another new Xeno entry throwing a wrench in this kind of release schedule for these possible remasters/remakes. I do think Xeno fans will be eating good for the next few years though if this all happens. Though to be safe I'll be buying Baten Kaitos and Star Ocean to show that there is interest in these.

I'm definitely with you on future redeemed being a perfect send off to the klaus saga. I really do hope we'll get something saga related in the future and honestly just cant wait for what xeno has to serve us next. Just gotta let Takahashi and monolithsoft cook again.

You know what they say, don't be sad it's over, be happy it happened. Xenoblade is such a great series and the one that really kickstarted my love for the JRPG genre as a whole. FR was a great way to end the story arc and I'm excited to see what Takehashi and Monlithsoft are working on next. If you're looking for something to play now that Future redeemed is finished though, might I warn you about: "The Legend of Heroes, Trails in the Sky"? It's a trilogy of games from Falcom and the first arc in a larger series of games called "The Legend of Heroes: Trails" (AKA: 'Kiseki'), which is a game series built around some of the best worldbuilding, characters and stories that I've seen in gaming. Right up there with the Xeno series.

If this was a bit longer, like if it had another city and a pretty shining swamp area, and another hour of cutscenes, this would be my favorite game of all time, this DLC is perfection, it just doesn't beat XC1 for me yet because it's hard to compare to a full length game, but man, this was incredible, everything I wanted and more was here. Especially my gripe with XC3, that it lacked surprises and mind blows, and that Dmitri jumpscare sure is way more than I could have hoped for.

Future Redeemed was good just like the third game and first game and Future Connected but Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna The Golden Country were the peak of the Xenoblade games as far as characters and storytelling and even gameplay. 😶

For me, XC3 was the weakest of the mainline games and while FR does address some of my issues, it creates new problems. A wonderful game in its own right, but probably, in some strange ways, my biggest disappointment in 30 years of gaming.

Future Redeemed sucked. The gameplay and music were awesome, and I even liked all the characters, but once again the story itself was dogshit. Some random ass side story that just throws fan favorite characters at you for cheap profit and never matters in the grand scheme of things. You want to know a story that starts out seeming like an inconsequential side-story and by the end turns into an integral part of the entire series narrative? Steins Gate 0. That's how you cap off a story that already seemed finished. Instead, Future Redeemed just expo-dumps halfway through, tells you the plot, and then has you fight your way through the rest. Like really? Alvis is the bad guy because...he's an unfeeling A.I. that just...becomes sentient off-screen and decides to fuck shit up? That's the entire reasoning behind this conflict? That's what you brought back my boy for? A character assassination? Thank god Shulk is still cool and Rex is actually tolerable for once in his god damn life. Even then they still had to come up with a bullshit excuse for them not to have appeared in the 3rd game. Xenoblade peaked at the end of the very first game and has only gone downhill since. You will not change my mind, do not even try. They consistently come up with great music, amazing visuals, and unique gameplay, but Takahashi is fucking braindead when it comes to story-writing. Old man needs to pack it up and retire. Also just a friendly reminder that the only reason Xenogears is the masterpiece that it is is because of Soraya Saga, not Takahashi. She had all the talent and all the ideas. Takahashi is a hack.

@@qrowthebird7496 yeah and obviously the only reason it was any good was because his wife was writing. Take her out of the picture and the Xeno games writing goes down the toilet. Xenoblade 1 is barely passable but inoffensive. Absolutely nothing compared to Xenogears though. So my point still stands. Without Saga, Takahashi has no clue how to write a story.
