At 1:12:43 (precisely) there is a shot that shows the spring from the governor arm connecting from below and up through the lever on the face plate. I wasted a hue amount of time with it connected the wrong way (down into the lever arm). One little thing in your video and it has saved me so much trouble. As they say, everyday is a learning day. Cheers for the great videos.

I’ve cleaned dozens of these plastic carbs and have found that it’s not necessary to remove the O rings. A liberal squirt of acetone/carb cleaner is all that’s needed.

It's 5:25 I know nothing about a lawn mower but there's no tension on the pedal so I think a spring is missing

I have a 3.5 Clasic I got in Maryland late 80s. Only used it a couple times and had it service 8 yrs ago but let step son and son in law use it. Big mistake! They said it wouldn't stay running and had no oil. It was so clean they didn't see any oil on the dip stick. We know who the dips were. Anyway been checking out your channel and learned a lot. Did a quick service and got it running again. I probably could use a new diaphragm. Mine doesn't have a primer only manual throttle. Tach got it at about 3100. Now to get my 500e up and running. Got it free from don in law in a trade for an extra one I had that ran, 22 inch, FWD with a mulcher/bag. Sounds clanky and may need low noise muffler. Adjusted by using your videos specs. Can't get specs anywhere and we know about customer service at Briggs.

I am replacing the governor springs on an old B&S 3.5 hp push mower and I am baffled that there is no tab on the bracket for the smaller spring! Are there other styles of brackets on these engines? It looks otherwise identical to the engine in this video!

Hold the blade 😳 a block of wood the same width as the Dec stops the blade rotating. And u don't know how many of these I've watched today but it's over 30 and each and every one misses one or more IMPORTANT facts. Like shouldn't you of mentioned blade balancing if you're going to remove it 🤦

Lawn mower was surging and wouldn't run without pushing the primer every few seconds. Googled "Briggs 450e won't run without primer". Found this video, watched it. Went down to the Repco and bought some carb cleaner. Followed the instructions in this video precisely. Put her back together. Runs great again. Thanks Mower Man, great video, well explained. Really helped me out 4 and a half years after posting. Cheers from New Zealand.

Wear gloves in case the spanner slips, and buy a breaker bar (very useful for getting motor wheel bolts off)

Hi Paul I have serviced my Mountfield SP470 with new air filter/diaphram/gasket/spark plug and Governor Springs but it over-revs massively. I have checked the Governor Springs and they move freely. I have tried bending the tab both ways but still over-revs. Any suggestions Paul??

you said the black plastic attached to the spring, should move right and left, the bit plastic in front stops from going further, this is unclear 'to go further'', thanks

I put NGK in all my mowers, weeders and blowers. avg 3 pulls to start. With garbage Chinese oem plugs it would take about 10 pulls or more and that's if it even started at all

Hey mate Thanks for the video, no nonsense and easy to follow. I’ve had my Masport 470 for 7 years, never done an ounce of maintenance on it even though I felt bad about it. Anyway last weekend it started surging/hunting and backfiring. Followed your instructions and cleaned up the carb, was a bit of dirt and junk in it. Cleaned carb, new spark plug and air filter, oil change as well for good measure. Runs mint. Cheers from Australia

I have an RV150. Really hard to start from cold. Choke butterfly closed in choke position and after about 10 to 12 pulls can eventually get it running. Once running it runs a treat. Any advice would be really helpful please. I’m thinking a new carb might do the trick. Ps. After 3-4 pulls I checked the plug and that’s bone dry. Seems as though not enough fuel is getting through on choke 🤷🏻‍♂️
@MowerMan
@MowerMan 2 ай бұрын
@@visionplus7397 quick fix Spray some quick start in where choke closes then close choke and get it fired up. Long fix clean the carb. Sounds like choke is working fine. Also try starting with choke off or half off. Get fresh fuel also.
@visionplus7397

@@MowerMan Thanks for the advice. Already had the carb to bits and thought I’d cleaned it. Noticed a lot of alloy furring. No probs with brass main jet bits but maybe one of port holes could be blocked which is not getting the fuel through on choke position. Crap Chinese materials on this poor Chonda copy.

Well done good job. I am in the process of giving the carb of my Mountfield S461PD a good clean. I have bought a new bowl seal as the old one expanded when I used the carb cleaner on it. Lesson to be learned. Wish me luck! I found the slow running jet blocked so fingers crossed.

My mower is over revving massively. Governor springs seem to be ok and throttle cable seems to be as it’s supposed to. I’m afraid of busting the engine if I use it.

Hi Paul! Just watched this video and have watched a few in the past. A google search has just thrown up your "Thank you and Goodbye" video from 3 years ago! I've got a Flymo mower with a B&S classic 3.5 engine, and although I serviced it last year, it's still a total Pig to start from cold. Awaiting a new set of govenor springs as the old ones are very rusty, and will go through all of the points you mentioned. Curious to know why, when I expand your description, KZbin comes up with a "Mower Man" photo of a guy in my area! Thought you might be local but now know different. Thanks for the vids - stay safe & well. 👍👍
