Thanks for this ! Got one of these - had it for years and never let us down . . . except the drive belt for the rear roller came off once but was really easy to put back in place. On the fourth or fifth battery - fitted an external plug for a moped smart charger seems to give them more of a life span. Edit: - Forgot to say - not a 'dead man's handle' - it's for the proprietary charger. :)

I think the small bolt that was leaking fuel under the carb, is the bolt designed that to drain float bowl of the carb.

Looks similar to another old mower I've got I've never seen another like it, great big mower has it years and starts np, but recently noticed a petrol leak coming from the tank at the base of it but it sit in top of the mower, i think someone's gave it a knock, but good to see something different, nice job 👍😎

The socket next to the key is where the charger for the battery goes......... not a dead mans switch!!

That screw where the fuel was leaking from might have been a drain screw to remove the fuel from the carb.

Great but you are missing the foam element from the air cleaner. It comes in two parts. I've had a Yamaha for over 25 years and it still works like new.

Any chance you still know about this mower the governor arm doesnt go back to the low rev postition when the revs are turned down. I have used a bit of wire to link it so it gets pushed back when the revs are turned down but i didnt know if its ment to have a spring to bring it back or something?

That blade design looks very like an Alko one you had before on a video, and when Yamaha stopped making mowers I saw that machine you have , branded as Alko. Some John Deere mowers are powered by Yamaha engines btw.

Anyone who has worked on mowers long enough knows that screw in the side of the bowl is a drain screw for off season storage. It needs to be tightened. Further more the bowl bolt needed a good wire brush before reinstalling. It had dirt all in the threads.

Hi I've also posted this query on micks' mowers. I have a mountfield self propelled with B&S engine. It's about 10+ year old. It has solid plastic grassbox which keeps falling off. The 2 plastic hooks that hook onto to mower seem splayed outwards. Hence as soon as theres some grass collected the weight splays the hooks out more and the box disengages! It slips off ! Tbh I've stopped mowing the lawn 🤣 I was going to heat up with hair dryer/heat gun and then push inwards and hold and cool it down. Other than replacenent grassbox any suggestions?

I have a homelite SP lawn mower with 3-5 engine starts first pull, had new cables fitted two years ago , new blade, and boss but the deck has got holes in it , I am thinking of scrapping it its a shame its reliable but I have become some what disabled and I can no longer work any suggestions

I picked up a YLM346 and the guy said it intermittently cuts out as well, the carb was completely clear so it leads me to think it's maybe an issue related to the key on / off switch cutting the power somehow. I'm wondering if you noticed any issues with the wiring or if there was any breaks in what you had?

Hi! Great video! I’m in the US and have a YLM 346 I got from an Englishwoman who brought it over. The spark plug in it is an NGK BP5ES. Is it okay to use a BPR5ES? Thank you!!!
