Appreciate the shoutout! There is a gameplay thread that I certainly encourage people to read and check out, but there is an out of character thread that I myself have no issue with people asking questions about the characters and what they're thinking. And there's a channel in the Discord that is meant for Play by Post overall, so you don't have to be interested in the campaign that I'm running to ask about running your own game. Just pop on in there, and I can help you out with my PbP knowledge to help you get started!

@@goblinsalvagerites because the art types aren’t inherently unbalanced, like I said, in another comment, you have an answered yet, one person can take the wrestler ark type, which is very overpowering and another take a role-play based ark type such as the pirate, which is underwhelming LMAO, which inherently breeds a power imbalance into the system itself, and no matter what you like to say in your video more options and versatility in a game like pathfinder two equals more power which balances there gain mechanics in the first place. I will never allow this into a game I run.

I prefer open rolls and to not fudge my rolls, we are playing a game of chance, we rolling with the punches. the action economy is mine to mess with however i choose, but if i wanted to know the outcome without any real interaction from my players i would write a book

This is a great perspective. It's a common dichotomy between tables where the DM is telling a story the player's experience versus the players creating a story alongside the DM.

So, I find the discussion about Assassin a bit confusing. According to the archetype, you can take Poison Use and and Improved Poison Use as Archetype Feats at level 6 and 10. So, you should be able to go 2nd/4th/6th. Also, nothing stops you from spending regular class feats on the assassin. I theory, you can take both assassin feats at 4th level

I'm right with you there on hating shopping episodes. I think of it as part of the "critical role crowd" effect, I've been in those groups, and I hate it. That same group also spent like 40 minutes of game time every session or two role-playing their characters having fecking breakfast. It was so annoying.

45:30 From what I've heard from other youtubers (specifically NoNat), it's the opposite and the Oracle archetype actually gives out so much more of the base class than other classes do.

3:17 I have uh.. 20+ swords, knives, hand axes and a bow. Some I acquired from my father who had them on his wall before me. Oh and we got 3 Ikea magnetic wall mounts and all of our kitchen knives are on the wall just outside the kitchen. (each mount having a different length of blade). I'll probably post a pic in yer discord later, if I remember.

The talk about Assassin having additional feats made me remember i got a little mad that a lot of Archetypes in the PC2 still have level holes in them and not even a list of additional feats that you can pick on those empty levels when in a Free Archetype game.

I almost never use secret rolls. Everything is rolled out in the open. It builds trust between all participants that the rules are being followed, since we can correct mistakes and remind each other when we forget something. As a GM I find that hiding my rolls doesn't actually add anything to the experience, since I trust my players to roleplay appropriately and not use meta knowledge.

Monk's having stances that they can pick and choose and combine how they want leads to a really cool dynamic through flexibility, and they don't want to restrct the options... But I could imagine a way they could easily do it would be similar to Cleric having Warpriest and the caster one. I don't know /what/ the options would be though, maybe weapon monk vs unarmed... Or Str vs Dex...?

For the monk, my issue is that some of my ideas for a character share some of the trappings of a monk, but not others. Like the Japanese Sohei feels a lot like a Monk, but traditionally, they had not issues using Armor, bows, being mounted or carrying weapons. The Champion is Sohei Adjacent, but the aesthetics feel more Monk then Champion.

Here's why I don't hate the Investigator class. a) I prefer skill-based, point buy RPG anyways. b) But whe I play a class/level game, to me the lines between Class, Archetype, and Background blurs pretty quickly. We've all seen a Pirate Pirate who has the Pirate Background at this point. c) In world, roleplay wise, this is how this character would be called in society.

A ronin samurai is a swashbuckler. A Katana is a versatile 2/1 handed weapon. The theater of intimidation, the managing one's reputation and honor, and navigating shogunate court politics, are all big parts of the concept of the samurai. If you believe that any samurai worth their steel knows how to participate in a formal tea ceremony, then it fits within the swashbuckler's concept.

Just as a heads up: The Alchemist's versatile bottle reload does not use the refocus action. As per the text you automatically get back two bottles per 10 minutes of exploration, even if you do other stuff. It seems to be more like "I'll put this leaf, I just walked by, into a vial and let it simmer"

Disney Alladin could be a swashbuckler, like when he is running from the guards doing all fancy, mocking moves. (Fists/claws can be agile and finesse). Sinbad is a swashbuckler, Errol Flynn's Robin Hood, Zorro is obvious, and you could even do Catwoman with a whip.

A big problem I have right now with homebrew campaign hexcrawl / free exploration is the scale. I made a map and just kinda put a hex grid on it, without knowing how far apart things should be.
