Ive been focusing on how I want to practice asana with less breath and more relaxation and then I found Simon. Very grateful for a big brother on this path to lead me. Thank you Simon.

@@SimonBorgOlivier right back at you! your generosity with this deep yoga truth has informed me and my practice. I've been practicing relaxing the pelvic floor every day with day-to-day activities. it has been changing the quality of my life beyond measure. and in recent weeks, that has become the key part of my focus. (and to let you know, my name is Guy Duperreault and I'm a member of your group 'health, happiness longevity.' and also, the 5D flow process is incredible and has become core to me as I go forward organising my own retreat centre here in oaxaca. slowly it is coming together as I practiced the 'real' yoga of integration. (I've signed to your offer to revise it.) all the best with what is changing. everything changes! with peace, respect, love and exuberant joy. 🙏❤🧘‍♂☯🧘‍♂❤🙏

Concentrating on the breath it's a tool for bringing the mind back...do you suggest paying attention to the sensation, to bring the mind back? Thank you
@SimonBorgOlivier
@SimonBorgOlivier Ай бұрын
@Eli_water_lily thank you very much for your message. Rather than focusing on your breath, It is much better to focus on lengthening your body and being as relaxed as possible. Both of these things will increase blood flow while keeping your dominance of your parasympathetic nervous system and this is really good on all levels for your health, happiness and longevity.

Just a simple question: i practice Chen style taijiquan . I have been teaching Yoga for A decade now . For me fusing components parts of those two disciplines become essential. Would you recommend practicing the forms using Ujjayi breath? I do. It feels fantastic! My taiji tribe don't want to hear about it...They are all about what we call "reverse breathing". What do you think about that? Please help me to clarify this. I would be grateful. By the way, I am a big fan of yours! Namaste.

@anthonybisson1999 thank you very much for your message. I really appreciate your support. Your question is a good one, but it requires a massively detailed response. Ujjayi is not what people think it is. The less you breathe (less minute ventilation), the better it is i find - and most Chinese practitioners that I've met will talk about focusing more on the energy rather than the breath that makes sense to me, because for me, pranayama is more about blood flow and blood pressure and less about the air you breathe. Different people talk about the reverse breathing in different ways, and what I have observed is that many people attempt to control their trunk but really don't do it the same way. Again, I have my understanding about this that I can justify, and you can find it in my other videos. I explain in most detail in person in my live courses, and you can find it in my other videos, but it is more complex than I can explain here. The essence is that, even though you might seem to see a breath start from the chest with the abdomen sucking in, which is what many people talk about as reverse breathing, however, it is ideally when the lower transverse abdominis is engaging (but not the upper TA) and drawing the lower abdomen inwards, while the diaphragm is descending, so it looks like you're breathing in the chest, but actually the breath is starting at your core, or your daniten or the kanda as they call it india. I explain also in my breathing courses online. hope this helps a bit - cheers - simon

@SimonBorgOlivier Thank you. I understand. That is why l rather keep the breathing simple, focusing on its waves, and rythmes, trying to keep it both sukha and shtira like to promote blood flow first.Ujjayi l have been taught is simple. I always initiate the breath from the core in a sense that l let my self sinking and expanding . I let the breath take other to connect core, spine and intent. I call that: chasing the dragon.

Are you saying cardio exercises are bad?
@SimonBorgOlivier
@SimonBorgOlivier 2 ай бұрын
they are not bad as such, but too much is likely to reduce immune health and longevity - I think that a good balance is doing one to 10 minutes of practice with increased heart is ok for every 100 minutes of conscious embodied practice where your heart rate is low but your blood is flowing - that's a good balance.

How is it possible to perform the other type of mula bandha? The one in which abdomen pushes outward and looks like a ball?
@yogastef
@yogastef 4 ай бұрын
The simplest way to elicit this with natural movement is to stand and press the fingers into the lower abdomen. When you lean backwards from standing you’ll feel the abdomen push out. You’ll notice the same when you do a leg left from śavasana or in navasana. With practice you can send this expansion to the low back at the same time as low abdomen and it feels very relieving. One other vital occurrence of the expansive mūla bandha is in upluthih, pandulum pose
