Really handy feature. Although it's not fussy whose palm it lands in though...😊 I was demonstrating my Neo to our grandson, flying in manual mode using my phone, he put his hand out and it flew over to him to land in his palm!😊
@SteveCouttsКүн бұрын
That's awesome! Yeah, DJI kind of makes you believe the drone "recognizes" you when in reality, like you point out, a palm is a palm to the NEO. Happy flying!

Hi Steve, I enjoyed your video as I am considering getting a DJI NEO. I do have a question though, I find the NEO very noisy and was wondering if anyone (including DJI) offers Toroidal propeller upgrades?
@SteveCouttsКүн бұрын
Hi Nicolas. Thank you! I know there are some 3rd party propellers out there but I haven't personally tested any. I am waiting to see what Master Airscrew comes up with, apparently they have Neo propellers in development. I'm cautiously optimistic that someone will come up with a quieter propeller but I'm not holding my breath it will be as quiet as some folks would want. At first I found the Neo to be very noisy but I have kind of gotten used to it and that extra noise can actually be useful. I have used the Neo quite a lot in follow mode on mountain bike rides and the noise is a handy way to know it's still behind you. When I don't hear it I know it's either stuck behind a tree or it ran out of battery and landed - haha! Cheers!

I’m getting the DJI Neo for Christmas this year. I’m only getting the base package because ONE of the reasons why is because I already have an RC2 controller (I bought an Air 3 FMC w/ RC2 controller). Do you really think I should buy 2 extra batteries and a charging hub for mine??
@SteveCoutts3 күн бұрын
I think getting extra batteries is a no-brainer and I am glad I picked up a couple of extras and the charging hub. Battery life is advertised at 18 minutes (best case) but it sure feels short when you're used to 30+ minutes. I am very happy to have three batteries and there have been times I wish I had more - haha! The NEO has such great controller compatibility, it's kind of dumb that DJI didn't offer a Fly More combo without the controller for those of us that already have one. I would have been nice to get a better deal on the extra batteries instead of essential paying for a controller I didn't get. Best of luck with your NEO when you get it. It's a lot of fun! Cheers!

Too bad it’s not that easy. My screws are so tight I can’t loosen 2 of them. I have 4 DJI drones and absolutely hate the way the mine 3 and 4 change. The push and pop out is much easier to work with. Anyone have suggestions for over tighten screws. I am on the verge of breaking my drone trying to loosen them. Ugh
@SteveCoutts6 күн бұрын
I have seen a lot comments from folks with screws that came over tightened right from the factory. If this applies to you and your drone is still under warranty and/or Care Refresh, I would contact DJI Support first before trying an alternate method. Even if your drone isn't under warranty and it's the first time you are removing screws, I would still contact DJI Support to see if they can offer any advice. I have only ever had one screw that I couldn't remove and I made a video about it here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHvFk36Bg9N3jNU. There are plenty of different methods of removing a tight screw. The video showed my preferred method, which worked well for me but like anything, your mileage may vary. Some folks told me they were able to remove the screws using larger, higher-quality screwdrivers with more torque. I list two other screwdriver options in the video description. Others used methods similar to mine where they cut away some of the propeller with a small utility knife so they could grab the screw head with pliers. If you are having to resort to cutting away the propeller just be really careful you don't damage the post in to which the screw goes. Let me know how it turns out. Good luck!

Yes, you can connect a portable storage device like a USB thumb drive via the USB-C host port and then you can transfer the files to it from the RC. Just follow the example I gave in the video with the portable hard drive and you should be good to go. Let me know how it works out, cheers!

Hey Steve! I'm in the "remove 'em" camp. Yea for performance, also, I'm a reasonably safe type - while not impossible to end up taking a hit, it's fairly unlikely. Took them off when I unboxed the Neo, and have actually never flown WITH them! That's not to say anyone should mimic livin' on the edge as I do, but I just don't feel any desire to have them on. Avata 2 doesn't wear "protection", and neither does Lil bro! Thanks Steve-O!
@SteveCoutts14 күн бұрын
Thanks John! Haha! I agree with you. The propellers are really well guarded by the frame so the prop guards are likely superfluous. I just don't want to read the "you told me to remove them and my kid cut his finger off" comment. When it comes to safety stuff like that, I err on the side of caution. My NEO tends to get up close and personal with a lot of trees and foliage so for now I'm leaving them on. Flight time is definitely not long enough however I doubt I would even notice the minor difference removing the prop guards would make. Cheers!

I had my first fly of it today, I’ve been flying a Cfly faith mini2 for a few months, the DJI is in a different league 👌🏼👌🏼 I have a question. Do I need the sd card in to do quickshots ? I haven’t put it in so I can record videos straight to my phone (I don’t own a computer). Edit…. I’ve subscribed 👍🏼

Thanks for the kind words and the sub! DJI drones are the best, no question. Unfortunately you do need an SD card to take Quickshots. The good news is SD cards are relatively inexpensive and you don't need a computer to download the files. From the main DJI Fly screen just tap on QuickTransfer, switch to the Mini 2's network and download the files to your phone. Good luck with your Mini 2 - cheers!

Does anyone know how to unscrew the screw whose tip is broken? I unscrewed the propellers and they were too tight and I broke the tip I have an idea to cut the propellers and unscrew the screw with pliers Has anyone had a similar problem?
@SteveCoutts24 күн бұрын
Cutting away the propeller and using pliers to remove the screw it a solid idea. You just need to be mindful of not damaging the post in to which the screw goes. I made a video of a technique I used to remove a stuck screw, which may be helpful - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHvFk36Bg9N3jNU. Good luck!

My refurbished drone i got at a good price ended up hitting a spider web hanging from small tree limbs, and the drone slowly came down and gave me an error warning, it was a large spider web i didn't see until it was too late but it still brought the drone down. Unfortunately i was thinking the drone already needed to replace propellers and it ended up being the screws being loose, i could physically move one propeller on each arm up and down the screw... i think the refurb process didn't completely check it. But i came just to see if that was normal, and sure enough the bit of threadlocker you mentioned was probably the issue. I changed out everything and it flys great now!

I'm still struggling after watching many videos Purchased a DJI Mini 4 pro and forgot to buy an sd card So I'm using the small internal storage on the dji mini 4 pro All I'm trying to do is download the (high resolution photos) But all I seem to be able to find is the (cach low resolution photos) I do have the camera saved to take (RAW) images?
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
Honestly, I'm not a fan of "Quick Transfer". I find it's not very quick and just kind of a quirky interface in my opinion. I prefer to connect the drone to my computer directly as shown in the video. Just make sure you power up the drone and use the cable that came with it. Once powered up and connected, the internal storage will mount on your computer and you can just drag and drop the files. Files stored on the Mini 4 Pro's internal storage are full resolution images and video, not cache versions, so you will be good. If you don't have a computer or prefer downloading on your phone, make sure you connect in Quick Transfer mode. So when you connect, at the top the screen in Quick Transfer mode you should see the DJI Mini 4 Pro name with a link icon on its left and the name underlined. In yellow, on the right hand side, you will see a lightning bolt icon. That means you're connected in Quick Transfer mode and you should be good to go. Just select your files and hit the download icon. If you're not seeing the things I described or shown in the video, then you're probably not in Quick Transfer mode and then you may be getting cached images and video. Hopefully this helps.

Nice footage. I used mine in my recent Autumn video and it stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the mini 3 and my sony camera footage. I'll have to try messing around w the sharpness.
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
Thanks! The detail just isn't there in the 4K and you're seeing that compared to superior cameras. I have a real mix of footage in the video. Some are straight-up, full auto in palm control mode (follow shots). The FPV shots (river area mainly) were auto exposure and manual white balance. The other shots were full manual with sharpness -2 and noise reduction -1. You can notice the reduction in sharpness with the style setting change but it doesn't improve the lack of detail, which just isn't there. Regardless, the Neo does a good job and its quality, I think, is in line with its price point. Cheers!
@buscampersАй бұрын
@@SteveCoutts well I discovered that my mini 3 came with an RCN1 controller, I thought I had a RCN2 which means I can't use the controller w the NEO and, worst of all, I dont have access to the camera controls outside of 4k/1080 and the fps. I believe you need a remote to adjust the sharpness after doing some digging. Boo
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
@@buscampers Crappy! It's funny, I thought I had an RC-N2 as well but it turned out to be a N1 - darn it! I think it's kind of dumb that the style settings are not made available when flying in mobile app mode. I am moderately optimistic that may change though. Community pressure has moved the needle in the past so let's hope that DJI listens and adds some of the missing features across the board. Cheers!

Your dog 🐕 has secretly been texting me telling me that she doesn’t like going to the park when it’s cold 🥶, but her crazy as hell humans insist on going to the park anyway what the hell 🤨
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
Before you formed your opinion did you know that Molly was a dog that no one wanted? Did you know that she was destined to be put down before we fostered her? Did you know that she couldn't be around other dogs or children? Did you know that she had little muscle mass and could barely walk around the block when we first got her? Did you know hiking was her favourite activity? Did you know that she preferred the colder temperatures of winter to the heat of summer? Did you know that she is so stubborn that she could not be made to do something she didn't want to do? Did you know that we spent dozens and dozens of hours on training and rehabilitation so she could go to off leash dog parks and be with her kind again? Did you know that a dog that needed to be "kept away from other dogs" had many (best) friends at the dog park? Did you know that after months of rehab the first time she played with another dog we cried out of pure joy? Did you know that we worked with our neighbour's kids so Molly could trust children again? Did you know that Molly was so smart and knew her hiking trails so well we would give her options as to distance and difficulty so she could pick based on her energy level? Did you know she quickly got bored of the same walks so we had to constantly find new places and routes for her? Did you know that most of the rehab work we did with Molly was while we fostered her to make her more adoptable? Did you know that during our time with Molly we only took trips to places we could go to by car so she could come with us? Did you know that we never left her with anyone else during the entire ten years we had her? No, you didn't know any of those things. But maybe if you did know some of those things you would have formed a different opinion. Perhaps you would have concluded that these are AMAZING dog owners who just got caught in bad weather. Just so you know, we don't intentionally ride in the rain, snow or serious cold because it's no fun for us. Molly didn't really care because she's sheltered in her wagon. On that particular day the forecast was for possible snow later in the day. We got surprised by it early. It mattered more for us because we were exposed to the elements. Molly rode in her wagon with the cover in place so she didn't get exposed to the weather at all. She was nice and toasty. I know this because we had to keep stopping to warm our hands and I would check on her. We had to say goodbye to Molly this past August. She was 15. She left a hole in our hearts that will never be filled. The only comfort comes from knowing, with absolute certainty, that we gave her the best life we could for those ten short years we had her.
