Thanks and great point on the close up shots! It is very safe to get in for those tight shots. It stays in the air very well, bounces of most obstacles and (knock on wood) I have yet to damage it.

@@SteveCoutts my question 🙋🏿♂️ to u is, r u flying with a remote, phone, r by itself? Just want to c what I’m will to get myself into.
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
@@Knotperfect I have used the Neo quite a bit in follow mode. Generally anytime you see it following me on my bike, I have just launched it from my hand without using the phone. Typically anything else I am using the DJI RC 2 controller, which I got with my Mini 4 Pro. The shots close to the water were done with the DJI Goggles 3 and Motion Controller 3. I only tried flying it with my phone once and I don't like it but I am used to using a controller. I think if you're planning on flying it a lot, I would recommend getting a controller. Even the RC-N3, which can be bundled with the Neo is a good choice. BEFORE buying the Neo though I would take a look at your phone's compatibility. You can find it a the bottom of this page - www.dji.com/ca/dji-fly. Cheers!

Hi Steve, great ... the footage looks very beautiful. Direct from the Neo ? - did it had a camera firmware update ? or is your post work ? Thanks for the those views . All the best, Roni:.
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
Hi Roni. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Fully updated firmware. No ND or other filters. Minor work in post included exposure, sharpness, colour balance and saturation. The NEO's camera was set to -2 for sharpness and -1 for noise reduction. Cheers!

Amazing film. What are you using for post production?
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
Thanks! I use Final Cut Pro for editing. I didn't do much with the footage in post to be honest. Just a bit of colour correction/saturation and exposure adjustment when necessary. I also added a little sharpening back in. I had Sharpening at -2 and Noise Reduction at -1 in the Neo's camera style settings. Cheers!
@sismilinАй бұрын
@SteveCoutts Thank. Unfortunately, I'm a Windows guy. I'm new to this alot of people mention lens filters, as I've seen the sun blow out the exposure. Have you used them before?
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
@@sismilin It doesn't matter what video editing software you use, just use whatever works for you. It doesn't make any difference. Lens filters are primarily used for two reasons - to an an effect or in the case of ND (neutral density) filters, to block light. Why would you want to block light? Well, it's explained in this old video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIHGfKxjr7-kiZo. You do NOT need filters, they are a creative or advanced choice. If you want decent results with any modern drone or camera, just set it to full auto and shoot and it will work just find. When you want to take it to the next level, then you can learn about and experiment with filters. Cheers!

Hello, Steve A very nice video. Great autumn pictures. I left a subscription right away. I've also had a DJI Neo for 2 days. Can you tell me what kind of camera settings you have? I don't know anything about it. Thank you in advance for a short info. Best regards Siegbert
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
Thank you again for the kind words and the sub. Congratulations on your Neo. I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am. It's such a fun and versatile drone. For that video I shot everything in 4K @ 30fps. I changed the style settings Sharpening -2 and Noise Reduction -1. I did not use any ND or other filters as I wanted to show what the Neo is capable of right out out of the box. I did so some minor adjustments during editing. The details are in the video description. Best of luck with your Neo. Happy, safe flying!
@siegbertmerwarthАй бұрын
Thank you for the prompt response. I made the settings. Everything else remains automatic. I also have the editing of the video found. Tomorrow we're going to film. PS: You live in a beautiful homeland. Greetings Siegbert
@buscampersАй бұрын
Nice footage. I used mine in my recent Autumn video and it stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the mini 3 and my sony camera footage. I'll have to try messing around w the sharpness.
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
Thanks! The detail just isn't there in the 4K and you're seeing that compared to superior cameras. I have a real mix of footage in the video. Some are straight-up, full auto in palm control mode (follow shots). The FPV shots (river area mainly) were auto exposure and manual white balance. The other shots were full manual with sharpness -2 and noise reduction -1. You can notice the reduction in sharpness with the style setting change but it doesn't improve the lack of detail, which just isn't there. Regardless, the Neo does a good job and its quality, I think, is in line with its price point. Cheers!
@buscampersАй бұрын
@@SteveCoutts well I discovered that my mini 3 came with an RCN1 controller, I thought I had a RCN2 which means I can't use the controller w the NEO and, worst of all, I dont have access to the camera controls outside of 4k/1080 and the fps. I believe you need a remote to adjust the sharpness after doing some digging. Boo
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
@@buscampers Crappy! It's funny, I thought I had an RC-N2 as well but it turned out to be a N1 - darn it! I think it's kind of dumb that the style settings are not made available when flying in mobile app mode. I am moderately optimistic that may change though. Community pressure has moved the needle in the past so let's hope that DJI listens and adds some of the missing features across the board. Cheers!
@martonprech7987Ай бұрын
what about Topaz AI upscale? Maybe it can show real 4k details?
@SteveCouttsАй бұрын
I tried Topaz AI on a few video clips (not in this video). I was actually impressed with how well it improved the overall quality. It isn't inexpensive software though, so to me, it didn't make sense to spend more than the cost of the Neo to improve its footage. I think for most folks and the target market, the Neo's quality is sufficient. I honestly think it's quite good considering the price. I feel very confident that DJI will release a "Neo Pro" in the near future to address the current Neo's photo/video quality shortcomings. Cheers!
