Lacto fermented pickles are the healthiest. Very crunchy too, with bay leaves added. Very tangy after just 4 days, but require refrigeration. Green beans too. 😊

I live in the middle of a small N Idaho town. Every year a cow moose plants herself and her calves in my garden. Last week one of her grown babes, a handsome young bull already ate my cabbages and kale. I was really hoping to get another month out of the garden. They don't usually show up until late September!
@GagneFarms
@GagneFarms 5 күн бұрын
Yeah everything is about 2 weeks early this year, even for the bigger animals. That's too bad about your garden, is there any way to put up some sort of fencing?
@Crystal_Blue_Persuasion
@Crystal_Blue_Persuasion 5 күн бұрын
@@GagneFarms LOL. Even the calves step easily over my 4 ft fence. Neighbors have a 6 ft fence and they've got in there as well. I'm building cages now in preparation for next year. I'll leave one 4x4 ft box for the Lacinto kale they seem to prefer and plant away from more precious cabbages, where I'll put the kale for personal consumption. The cages worked to keep them out of berries, so maybe better luck next year. 🤞😊

Well that's not good. Yeah it's not like you want to put up an 10' fence for them. Might be a dumb question but have you tried like a pelleted deer repellent or something similar? I know people around here use something like that in the apple orchards. Just a thought. 😁

Need to rethink my fortification around my peach tree for next year. I had successfully had 15 peaches blossom all on two branches from my 3yr old golden jubilee peach tree lost a few to what i thought was squirrels so I put up nylon deer fence 7’ tall and 4 stackes I pull a 1 last Wkend and it was not ripe enough very firm so I waited pulled one Fri night and woke up sat Am to find only three tiny hidden fruit. I’m torn want to gut every deer with in sight 😔I m going to really protect my tree next season 😉
