This is called push polling and it is what the MSM and university polling is up to in this current election cycle.

"Only goes up to Appendix K." "Six more to follow." In the Jim Hacker diaries, he refers to this report going up to Appendix Q. K+6=Q. Brilliant Easter egg.

Funny enough I saw this so long ago and it didn't occur to me that we could be using the same against russia. Case and point the so called "red lines" the UA war. Now Ukranians are in Kursk and they have F16s. Next they will probably get authorisation to use ATACMS

Some programmes date as well as curdled milk! Others just get better and better over time and more and more appreciated. This was voted in the all time Top Ten of British sitcoms. It will still be there now.

One of the reasons we all despise government is creatures like Humphrey. In real life he's a useless creature, he serves no purpose and would be killed by anyone trying to do the right thing. He's allowed to survive because of red tape, lies, back room deals and deliberate deception.

My parents loved Yes Minister and I did too when I got old enough to understand it. Just magnificent comedy/satire. It's quite amazing how little has changed too hehe.

The dining rooms where Sir Humphrey and Sir Arnold ate at would probably cost regular people in the 1980s about most of their weekly wage if they wanted to eat in them.

Sir Arnold and Sir Humphrey really are the most conniving snobs aren't they?. All joking aside true civil servants like these guys and their underlings are literally untouchable in terms of accountability or competency. They've got very good salaries, a crown guaranteed, inflation linked, defined benefit pension and if they are high enough up the chain - they can guarantee a directorship or two at a number of companies when they "retire" at 60.

A battle that Hacker comes out on the winning side thanks to the Israelie ambassador giving him a helping hand. Which he uses to to give the foreign office and Humphrey bloody nose and shoes himself in a heroic churchillian light.

Humphrey is so duplicitously Machiavellian as he leads jim up the garden oath in respect of the dog and uses the cost of said operation to vget hacker to back dowen over defence cuts.

Its Machiavellian brilliant to see that as soon as they get a whiff of advancement or demotion, that both Humphrey and Frank haver the knifes out and doing their level best to preserve their position or nick their colleagues. Climbing the greasy pole as it were.

I wonder if George R R Martin watched this show and based Baelish/Varys on Sir Humphrey. The whole show is like a comedic version of GoT’s small carbinet meetings.

Absolutely brilliant - it has lost nothing of its currency since the time of filming. Although 'raves in the naves' of the cathedrals stolen from Rome after Henry VIII's apostasy were considered impossible when this episode of Yes PM was written and recorded. So if one does a 'fast forward' from there, then the state of the CofE is utterly dire now in direct comparison. 'Collapse' and 'Oblivion' are now the words to describe the process and outcome of the CofE. Once a formidable, even if heretical and protestant denomination, the CofE is finished - apart from in the Global South which will last a little longer, but where the end is assured. Ave Virgo Sanctissima! Exterminatrix of Heresies!
