when getting crimps for your leaders do you use the exact size of the line diameter or couple mm up? i was told to use couple mm up and some say to use the exact size as the leader.

I think it depends on the brand. If you get the “same size” in the same brand they fit perfect. Otherwise I’d try to go 1-2mm up

How far should I cast? feel like even with my 12 foot rod, i still can’t cast over the second sand bar😢do I have to get a kayak?
@satellitefishing3 ай бұрын
Try walking into the water before you cast to get extra distance. Also you can get extra casting distance by shortening the amount of distance between your bait and hook in your rig. And finally just practice. I don’t know where you live so I can’t speak for a specific distance number, however there are sharks very close to shore in most places.

@@satellitefishing btw, does tide matters in terms of catching sharks? Say major tide, high tide?
@satellitefishing3 ай бұрын
@@mikeshen7498 I think time of day makes a bigger difference. I’ve had best luck in the morning or just before sunset. I seem to get the least bites after dark. As far as tide, I’d just try to get out there and fish all the tides. In my experience the sharks don’t seem to care too much and will eat at any time/tide tho. One other tip (I can’t remeber if I even said in the video) but fresh bait is by far the best. Especially if you can use small fish you just caught off the beach as bait.

Yes. My drone’s camera shattered awhile ago so I obviously just took the remains of the camera off to save weight. The app still works and I still have the live gps map. I just base my drops on distance and location and visual sight. However recently the drone has been acting funny giving a lot of esc error messages. Not sure if this has something to do with the camera or what. Haven’t figured it out.

What size penn senator do you recommend and is there any maintenance on them or is it just wash them off after fishing and all I have right now is a 6500 reel with 50 lb and an 11ft surf rod should this be fine
@satellitefishing4 ай бұрын
@@nottgav that spinning reel should be ok for 4-6ft sharks. Mines a 6/0 senator spooled with 400yds of 60lb mono. I don’t do any maintenance on it. Just rinse it. It works good for 6-7ft but if you want bigger sharks I’d go with a 9/0 senator

FG knot is by far the best for tying anything over 60 pound mono to braid. 60 and under you can get away with a double uni knot but it’s bulkier and a little weaker compared to FG.

So simple, i really like it. I didnt think a DJI Phantom 3 could fly with out its Camera, does it still work normally ie GPS function and return to home etc, or do you have to fly it manually? Reason I ask is Ive seen a few Phantoms with Broken camera Gimbles, selling a fair bit cheaper because they are broken, but if its just for fishing and no camera needed, cheap way to get into the sport of Drone fishing. Keep up the good work !!
@satellitefishing7 ай бұрын
Thank you and yes that is exactly what happened with me. That was my friend’s drone before he crashed it and broke the camera. I ended up just taking off the rest of the gimble/broken camera for some weight reduction. GPS and everything works fine, it just has a small error message that says no camera connection or whatever. Honestly I haven’t tested out the return to home, I don’t want to risk anything lol.
@joepangit69388 ай бұрын
Very nice. Do you think an DJI Air 3 would work? It supposedly has 17 oz of payload capacity. But I'm sure wind and other factors will reduce that. Also, I'm not sure how much your entire rig weighs. Leader, hooks, bait, and sinker. Keep up what you are doing. Your work/fun is teaching us a lot, and saving us some $$$$ :)
@satellitefishing8 ай бұрын
I would be hesitant to use the air 3. I think my phantom 3 is rated for around 36oz or something. I’m not sure how much my rigs weigh with baits. Also, you have to consider the weight of all the line you are flying out, especially if it’s wet. It all adds a ton of weight and air resistance. And like you said, on top of that the wind plays a roll. I’d feel a lot more confident if it wasn’t being flown over the ocean, because obviously there are no do overs if it crashes.

Great video guys! I'm retiring to Bohol Philippines soon and looking into doing this. I'm planning on using an Air 3 which has a 17 oz payload capacity. Do you think it's enough? I figure 4-6 oz for the sinker. How heavy is your entire rig? Going out early in the morning when there is no wind, and dropping a couple of baits sounds like a fun thing for an old retired fart to do :)

Whats up man ive been looking for drones to deploy baits. How much can the phantom take out?
@satellitefishing11 ай бұрын
I think 12-16oz is ideal. I normally just run a 4-6oz weight and fist size bait. A couple times I did heavier and it got super sketch I definitely suggest setting up the dropping device to have a clip so the bait drops with enough pressure (similar to how I did), so worst case if it’s too heavy the bait just deploys early and the drone is fine. (This is a phantom 3 pro btw I think different models have different strengths)
