One of the mullet in this video was dead and the grouper still ate it. So it will work, but I’ve also had a day where i was using a dead bait, it wasn’t getting eaten then I switched to live and a grouper ate immediately.

I would use straight mono fishing like this.

Yes, if I bought a reel just for Goliath fishing I would do straight mono. That’s my beach shark fishing reel. I need the braid to maximize line capacity.
