My Mom, Jessie Flora Akins (Carroll / Benson) Converted DC-3s into C-47s, with PanAm at Miami International... Hand painted the instruments to military spec. Stripped the interiors to the bare metal. Spray painted everything OD... Put in all the military gear. Were combat ready on leaving the airport. Working the graveyard shift, a half asleep friend walked into an idling prop. HEROES! The Greatest Generation!

The soundtrack is from Jubilee, and Armed Forces Radio Service weekly program that ran during WWII and some years after. Some excellent stuff got played on that program and recorded programs can be found online.

@leone2tube this proverb exists in both forms. and there is a link between them, because in war You feel the necessity more powerful and urgent.

@leone2tube Regarding those blinded eyes: That accounts only for the troops, not for the benefited ones, the initiators and upholders of war, the capitalists behind the scenes. And that was the meaning of my very first comment here: Have Your remaining eyes on them!

@leone2tube That it would "romanticize" the war machine is entirely Your personal interpretation. Why are You not willing to see any positive aspect of it? In the explicitly explained context of this channel it is absolutely clear, that the focus are women, not machines. And in the absence of the men playing war, the women hat to take a bigger role in the homeland economy. this vid reflects the ability of women to adapt to almost any need, even to drive the war machine if necessary.

@leone2tube "how can you do that?" implies that You should not have done so. And looking at these charming women doing quality work while listening to this music is raising a sweet sensation in my emotions. And I did not forget to mention the absurd and prevailing context. You are definitely barking up the wrong tree! Better bite some capitalists instead!

@leone2tube First of all: I can say whatever I want. Secondly does Your response not reflect that You where reading more than my first half-sentence before Your emotions started to blindfold Your mind.

@leone2tube There is good and bad in everything. that's why the war is called The Mother of Invention. the increasing independence of women is part wise a result of their work which they only got during wartime. Men in the field have a hard time suppressing their wife at home ;-) On the other hand, not building weapons would have killed their husbands, friends, sons and brothers.
