Good for you Dave. I'm sorry that it happenned of course, but I'm glad (as we all are I'm sure) to have a smart guy back to show us even more stuff. I wish you all the best in Health and Happiness. And I love the attitude. Nothing can keep a good man down. I'll always watch and admire your skills whether you care for me or not. God Bless.

Is it safe to use evapo rust on zamek??? Zamek is a metal, very similar to aluminum, and most commonly used for pulleys.

@@DaveGatton Do you ever run into models that might require the Y axis to move to get "behind" other portions of the model? It seems like all of the rotary axis videos I've seen have the Y axis fixed directly over the centerline of the rotary axis. I don't have a CNC yet, but zeroing in on the Altmill. The Altmill doesn't have a separate stepper driver for a rotary axis, but instead, has a switch box that connects it to the Y axis drivers, thereby disabling the Y axis while the rotary is in use. Is this a pretty common implementation of a rotary axis (shares drivers with Y axis?) Can V-Carve even generate a toolpath for this type of configuration (moving Y axis during rotary operations)?
@DaveGatton
@DaveGatton 12 күн бұрын
@@randysonnicksen9475 With V-Carve Pro you can "wrap" the X axis or the Y axis, meaning depending on which way you have your rotary axis aligned on your machine that axis is wrapped. For example, in the video here I have the rotary axis aligned with the X axis, so the values of the Y axis are replaced by the A axis. So you are really only using three axis at a time, the X axis, the Z axis, and the A axis (rotation). If your rotary axis is aligned parallel with the Y axis then you're using the Y axis, the Z axis, and the A axis (rotation). There is more expensive software that will you to do true 4 or 5 axis programming but V-carve Pro is not one of them.

I can't really give you the answer that you're looking for because when I bought this machine I had dozens of 8mm and Super 8 movies to convert. Had to laugh at the reversed rail, did exactly the same thing yesterday! I was looking for that on the "can you see it?" part of the video and still couldn't tell at that camera range. Glad we agree and they did add a right and left inset in the instructions (6040) but right and left are pretty ambiguous IMO as I spun the thing around to assemble it. I'd have liked it better if they'd pointed out the thing it had to plug into (didn't even notice those plugs on the rail until wiring time). Thanks for the video!

Not actually a 3d carve. It's actually 2.5d. That being said, given you were running 1/8" endmills, the carve time wasn't bad at all. This carve involved emptying a pocket and then carving raised letters from same. Not a 3d carve but good anyway.
