I agree with this video. I think it says tons about Joe Keery that his off-screen charisma, humor, and ability to win people over to liking him ended up wow-ing the Duffer Brothers into letting the character live. Not only that, Steve continues to transform and grow each season, but somehow NEVER shakes the status of being 'expendable'. That is some RARE magic in storytelling right there, because at this point, we SHOULD think he's immune to death at this point, but we never feel he's safe in any season! If anything, we're always wondering, "Is this it? Is this the moment they're going to kill him!?" My only black mark to the writing was how they changed their minds about Robyn and made her gay at the last second; by that point in the season I thought they had definitely built up that this was the right match for him, because his chemistry with Robyn was so much better than anything with Nancy. I get why they made the change and I think Robyn and Steve still have great chemistry and a good relationship on screen, but I think I prefer the original direction because I was hoping Steve would finally catch a break and be rewarded for all they've written him to do!

I checked out at the last season, umbrella academy was full of “I know this information that would benefit the group but I’m never telling anyone because some bullshit arbitrary reason.” Or “In a normal conversation this thing I know would obviously come up during it but I’m just not gonna” Or “Let’s split up for fucking reason even though we spent the entire fucking season trying to reunite”

I actually didn't really hate Steve that much at the start, sure he was a bit douchy and perhaps went a bit too far against Jonathan, but that wasn't enough for me to hate him and I never saw him as a bully, I have been bullied a lot in the past and I would not say that he was a bully. And now I obviously love him and I agree with the title of this video, he is the best character in the show and in my opinion by a lot, the only one who comes close is Dustin and Eddie.

That's harsh as they only had 6 episodes to rap everything up. Most American series are left on a high that is more annoying to loyal fans wish our heroes had lived to fight another day

I thought the town New Grumpton was created by Reginald to protect Jennifer and keep her away from the Umbrellas, but just like in their original Timeline, Ben finds her and saves her. I don’t think this universe Reginald thought of that and really didn’t think Ben would find her or realise it was her, because he’s not the same one that already lived it and neither is this Ben. His plan was very likely to have his fake townspeople not attack the Umbrella at all but distance Jennifer secretly. But Abigail, Reginald’ wife who he did this all for, doesn’t want this universe to survive. So she gets the townspeople to attack, forcing the Umbrellas to protect themselves and strengthen their old and new powers and revealing Jennifer to Ben. She ruined Reginald’s plan on purpose by changing it and manipulating the Umbrellas.

The conclusion also felt weirdly insulting and like it was sending a terrible message. The whole show was about how different people struggle with their childhood trauma/abuse with each of them working to overcome it. And, honestly, that's a great message, showing that with the right people that your past traumas won't define you. Their powers were often symbolic of their pain and issues, with them mastering their powers being indicative of them regaining control/overcoming their horrible childhoods (clearly seen with Klaus and Viktor). But then the ending pulls a 180 and goes, "actually, all of you victims of child abuse who have been working so hard to overcome the horrors you faced, you're actually the real problem. So it's better for everyone if you never existed. BYE." What a twisted message.

I’ve seen a lot of comments talking about the scene with Jaime and his dad in the locker room, specifically the part where he flinched when Roy goes into hug. But something that I always think about when I see that scene is how they frame the shot when Jaime’s dad is screaming at him. He looks so small in that scene, and he even seems like he’s curling into himself a little bit, which I think is supposed to represent how he feels because of his dad’s actions. It was one of the first things I noticed about that scene and it just made it even more heartbreaking to me.

Even though this is a science fiction dystopian book. The imagery in catching fire with the peacekeepers martial law and public lashings are real things that have happened in our human history and still goes on today

i wonder if you still think the same after the fourth season. She went from my favorite character, to one of worst characters of the show. She got so annoying, and the RETCON they made was DIRTY. she went from an optmistic powerful and sweet girl to a mean boring ahh. The only high point of hers was when the doppleganger got her.

Ya know, I originally defended the Lila and Five plot. Not that I thought it was good, but I thought it was realistic. Stuck with 1 person for 5+ years, not knowing when or if you'll ever escape, you begin to trauma bond. Bond over shared interests and similarities. And you get lonely. So I think its only natural that they seek companionship within each other. Thats not completely unusual. But damn it was still awful! (20:13 It doesn't pay off though, because we only get a rushed and poorly thought out episode or two. Now if we were to experience their journey stuck in the subway over a course of like, a whole season maybe, then it might feel more earned. It really does give me a bit of the creeps) And like, Why do they have to immediately sexualize someone the moment they are 18? Thats just nasty.

You know the character is well writen when you pray for the writers to kill him off to conclude his character arc. Like you said he is "created to die" and if he dies protecting the kids that will be the best thing for his character.

What i cant for the life of me understand is, a bunch of writers, sitting in a room and just unanimously saying that this was okay. Like i get it, Gerard Way wasnt there to help and the comics only went up to so much, but you had the dna of what makes the character's special. You had the blueprints to build off something. There was a foundation, so how the hell did we get this? I wasnt expecting a happy ending, but i certainly wasnt expecting the worse ending of Silent Hill either.

Jamie is everyone’s baby boy by the end of the show. His development is earned and takes its time, and he still has his struggles. He feels useless when Zava joins the team, and worrying that there will be another Jamie Tartt. Now all I do everyday is pray he returns in season 3, and hopefully he feels more comfortable opening up to his team instead of just Roy and Keeley.
