“I feel like I have impotence, but I have it in my soul.” That may be the most profound way of describing what it’s like to feel like there’s something wrong, but you don’t know what it is. It’s a pain inside that many feel but aren’t sure how to describe.

The part where Roy hugs him after Jaime punched his own dad just breaks my heart to a milllion pieces. Especially when you see for a half second right as Roy goes in for the hug, Jaime flinches. This was probably the first time in his whole life another guy just got that close to him and wasn't trying to kick his ass.

Jamie's arc is as well done of a character arc that anyone has ever done. That is definitely equal parts the actor and the writers. So glad that I got to watch it. It kinda feels like the opposite of Walter White, and almost just as amazing to me. He goes from despicable to heart warming, from selfish to self less, so by the time he passes off the free kick, and then does the "give me the ball, I want the ball" decoy, it's a jump up and pump your fist on the air moment. And the friendship that developed with Roy is something that you don't get to see very often on TV. A real friendship.

Jamie is the prime example of someone growing up with Childhood Post Traumatic Stress Disorder with emotional abuse, being able to grow past it which is impressive by itself but the coping mechanisms are realistic and the slow progress is extremely is an amazing thing. Everyone who has this happen always want some sort of revenge on whoever caused the trauma but the ability to put it aside is amazing.

Ok thanx for fully explaining the on-loan situation, bc I KINDA got it and how it contributed to s1 Jamie not giving a crap about being on a losing team/whether they win or lose, but now I see how it made ALL the sense. Why he had zero investment in Richmond as a team. Also, it’s weird how little I’ve seen people notice or mention how Jamie picked on Sam so much bc of jealousy of his relationship with his dad.

Beautiful commentary. Jamie Tartt is the epitome of the Ted Lasso coaching style - it isn't about making them better players, it's about making them better people together as a team. Everything else will come naturally. My only criticism is about the scene with Henry - my interpretation of that scene was Jamie trying to get Henry on his side to make Ted feel bad. His body language suggested sort of a "See, even your son likes me better" kind of toxicity. Otherwise, I loved the analysis. Great work, man.

The thing that caught me most one my first watch was how openly hurt Jamie was by being sent back to Man City. The Jamie we’d come to know would’ve been overjoyed to return to his super team but instead his response is “it all happened so fast when Lasso ditched me” and when he’s challenged about it you’d expect him to shake it off and say “eh it’s for the best, I’m with an actually good team now” but instead he openly admits that he wishes Ted had fought to keep him. That’s when I think I knew there was more to Jamie

I strongly disagree that Jamie is the “best” because in my opinion they all are. This was one the greatest shows in part because it truly was an ensemble cast. Do I love Jamie’s character? Oh yes but I equally love Ted, Rebecca, Sam, Roy, Coach, Ned, Trent and so on because the way they worked together on screen to bring this story to us the audience. I understand why many feel Jamie’s character is ”the Best” but for me it’s the sum not the parts.
