I have a muzzle brake to accept my silencer. I threw in a different buffer and charging handle as I needed to once suppressed. Changed out the stock and handgrip, added a geissele sd-c and a lpvo. That's all I need on my m&p15. I don't understand the guys who have every accessory known to mankind on their firearm which now weights 37 lbs lol.

Best dry fire tool I ever bought was a red dot for my pistol. Probably just gonna stick to that. Thanks for sharing!

I just got this. I’ve only played around with the stationary stuff, but so far I think that the visual processing is the most helpful aspect of it. I haven’t found a way to simulate the dot bouncing while focusing on a specific spot - during regular dry fire. This helps build that specific type of focus that you typically only get with live fire (minus the recoil obviously). I do think that’s it’s important to have built some confidence and consistency in your grip before this - and to be able to do one shot return. I can see someone getting sloppy by trying to get a high score without being truly honest with their mechanics. You also get feedback on your hits and that also builds visual confidence.

I had problems with the three mags that came with mine-- this was a known problem with the knockoff mags having too much distance between the carrier and the top of the mag. After four months of emails and me sending them back, they finally sent more that also didn't work. Ultimately, it just became too much of a pain to try to get fixed with them because they wanted me to RMA and ship those mags back as well. I bought HK mags (at $86 a pop) and some poly mags they work fine. Gun works fine thankfully.

I bought one so ive got some confirmation bias, but i think it's helped me in addition to dry fire as i don't have the space, and don't take the time and effort to set up more elaborate dry fire with movement and focal depth stuff and multiple target stuff. Ive never competed, i plan to soon. But as a training tool, i feel like Ace put enough effort into the controller, and the meta system has low enough latency, that the training does feel closer to simulation than playing an arcade game. To be fair, its closer to buying a decent racing wheel and playing Gran Turismo with driver aids off than it is to the Formula 1 racing sim setups. But just like all decent simulations, if you take it serious, you will absolutely get value out of it and be better at what your trying to do. Do you need it, hell no, but im glad i bought it and i recommend it to nerds that like to shoot guns. The biggest bonus to me, is with my toddlers running around and not finding tons of free time, i find it incredibly accessible to toss it on when i have a min. All this being said, i haven't been to the range yet and I'm on day 4, but I'm having a blast and i certainly I'm trying to ring my moneys worth out of it and I'm happy with how its going.

I have no discount code, but I highly recommend it. I've been using Ace for a few months now and it has really improved my target focus, confirmation, transitions, etc. It is a fun game that helps development of certain skills in a fun environment, but it is absolutely not a replacement for dry fire. And like any sort of training/tool, you get out of it what you put into it.

I heard a lot of really good shooters putting this product down so I never bought it but It was gifted to me by my wife a couple months ago when I started getting very serious about competition. So after a couple months here are my thoughts. 1. I actually think it's awesome. There are things you can't do, like reloads, sure, but for me, ACE has VASTLY improved my transitions. I've had Ben's dry fire targets and whatnot taped up around my apartment for a while and for someone that doesn't have a good grasp of some of the more advanced skills that are required to be competitive in the sport, this has helped me immensely. Things that weren't clicking in typical dry fire have clicked here. 2. It's like anything with dry fire, if you do the wrong things, you will suffer in live fire, but for someone who is new to shooting, excessive impulse on the gun is a huge problem, and if you do that trying ramp up your speed in ACE, it will affect your scores as it would in real life. ACE is a tool. A lot of the issues that have been said about ace are the same for dry fire. There's no focal difference between reduced sized targets on a wall, if you grip the gun incorrectly in dry fire it'll mess you up for live fire. I have been stuck in B class for a number of months because of a disconnect mentally with confirmation levels from dry fire to live, ACE helped me kick that habit and I just upgraded from mid B class to middle A class in 2 months. Perhaps it's not for everyone, and for guys that already know what needs to happen to get to M/GM, they absolutely don't need this, but it's engaging, fun, and there being a competitive leader board makes this style of dry fire more engaging

I think judging it as being an replacement for dry fire is the wrong view point of it, I have never heard anyone say they do that, I’ve use mine often doing drills, then take it off and do dry fire and empty start training with my real one back to back. The main purpose of ace is target focus and target transitioning training, that I find it very good at and fun

It looks like Ace VR is using a modified version of Ancientsky's "Practisim VR / Practisim Stage Designer" software as the foundation of their subscription service. Ancientsky's option is a $19.99 one time fee, has a user community where you can get free level/stage designs (or just create your own). Practisim doesn't come with with any hardware controllers but it has more flexibility and no monthly fee's ever, so it seems to be the better option if you're into using VR as a so-called "training tool".

I've had the AceXr setup for a few months now. I went in knowing it would not replace dry fire with my actual pistol. After a few months I did some actual improvement during live fire. This is not due to the VR setup all by itself. What actually happened was i found myself getting bored with dryfire. This as Joel said is just a fun way to shoot. I will usually get some reps in on dry fire then pop the headset on and work on transitions, and try to keep my fundamentals in check which are fresh in my head from dryfire. With work and house responsibilities I cant get the range as often as i like so this is an in-between solution for me. Being able to go from stage to stage and run through a course of fire has been great for me. I do PPC at my local range. Before I get to the range I will pop the headset on and run some bill drills to prepare. Has helped me a lot and my scores reflect that. Also the night before steel challenge I will run through those courses and familiarize myself with the stages again if I haven't done them in a while. If you are tight on money dry fire is still the best and most economical solution to train imo. This is a nice to have especially if you are the type of person who like to gamify training. You just have to be mindful and keep your fundamentals in check and use it with purpose. I set a timer for 30 minutes and try to get the most out of the stages as I can. Side note: The app is constantly getting updated and they add new features all the time. I have spoken with support a few times and suggested some improvements. They have a team that actually wants to improve on their product which I can appreciate, and I don't feel like its a rip off since there is a monthly fee for all the features. Everyone's budget is different so this may not apply to everyone.

Interesting. It is a lot of fun. I have no interest in peddling it, am decent IPSC shooter, if i rank myself(IPSC ranks are kinda dead) it would say around A. I ve been using it for around 3 months and i see drastic improvements(well, as drastic as can be for already decent shooter). I replaced dry fire with it almost exclusively. I only do dry fire for mag changes since that is hella wonkly in VR. I do use printed handeset with exact same grips as my real gun though and i ve weighted it down to also replicate the weight and balance of my real gun. My holster also works for both real gun and VR gun. I find it transletes wonderfully, problems i have in real shooting i noticed immidietly in VR and was able to work on them. For me it is revolutionary, im glad to have it and cant wait to see what else they do with it. I agree about focal depth point, but honestly it doesnt bother me that much. Well, anyway, here is the discount code.... kidding, kidding :D Same as dry fire, you have to be honest, also you must avoid treating it just as a game and fucking around to get a high score. I mean, yeah, i can index shoot whole stage, 25m targets included and 1 out of 5 times i will get a score i cant get while being honest. That is not how you shoot real stages though and its on you to not get sucked into doing that.

Yeah, the big thing to me is that the issues you see in real life also show up in VR, and if you fix them in VR they tend to get fixed in real life. Obviously this doesn't apply to recoil but that's also true for dry fire. Also, even ignoring the whole "in my underwear in the basement when I have 15 minutes free" thing, the ability to run a single stage 3 times a minute for 5 minutes with no setup or teardown time is really valuable for focusing in on a skill. Even if I have my own space to shoot and all the ammo in the world practicing with real guns has a lot of time overhead that you don't get in ACE. I can practice riding the line between index and confirmation shooting and that's helped speed up my eyes when it comes to shooting on the clock.

My experience with Ace is that high performing competitive shooters tend to show up at the top of the leader boards, while less skilled competitors are lower down. That is what I would expect from a useful proxy for real life competition. I personally had a lot of difficulty implementing the vision focus techniques Joel and Ben teach, because the feedback from live fire is slow and cumbersome, and dry fire difficult to evaluate. The ability to instantly experiment with different approaches and get immediate, reliable feedback has been an enormous aid in my training. I would imagine that if someone played with the techniques Joel teaches for one evening and reported them to be useless, it wouldn't be taken very seriously.

I get why you’d say the Ace is no replacement for live fire. I also get why you’d say it’s not a 100% replacement for dry fire with our actual pistol. But, I’m curious why you don’t think it’s effective as an adjunct/supplementation/support to dry fire. I feel it’s definitely more than just a game. Particularly if someone is limited on space and doesn’t have the luxury of setting up targets at different distances (me), in which case the Ace environment seems like it provides an opportunity to get practice with visual acuity, transitions and movement like few other dry fire aides afford. I definitely don’t want to have a crutch that’s unproductive, so I’d love to hear you expand on the details of your observations and thoughts about the Ace, at some point, perhaps after you spend more time with it. I will also add, it gets my 11-year old son dry firing a lot more, which is a good thing I reckon.

The caveat I'd add is that those who are M/GM class shooters likely already invest many thousands of dollars per year into ammo and range time, participate in competitions nearly as often as they're hosted in their local area, etc. For these individuals, they're at a point of both skill and resource investment that Ace probably doesn't have as much value, simply because if they're dry firing its because they *need* to dry fire, since they'll already put as many rounds in live fire as they feel is necessary for their training. Ace, I think, has most value for D through A class shooters who are wanting to work their way up to the M class skill level but can't justify investing that much time and money for where they're at. As well, they likely just don't have the same level of capacity to judge and diagnose what they're doing and seeing in dry fire. Ace lets a less skilled shooter very quickly and effectively build a lot of the fundamental and basic skills they'll need to be able to understand how to dry fire and live fire effectively for good results. It lets a less experienced shooter understand how the minor sounding technical advice given by advanced shooters actually results in improvements in scores because they can immediately test out that training advice. At least, thats my take on where it has the most value. Besides that though, VR is just fun and good exercise, and the headset is great to have. The handset isnt cheap but its not honestly that much compared to other training expenses. The biggest deal breaker for me is the subscription fee. Its way too much for whats currently on offer.
@novembermike512
@novembermike512 Күн бұрын
I'd agree with this. M/GM class shooters are already practicing the skills it lets you practice, it would make sense that they don't see value from it. Lower class shooters often don't have the facilities or routines to practice those things and Ace provides benefit there. It's also not a 100% replacement for anything else, you still need to dry fire, you also still need to go out to the range and live fire.

I think if you are honest about what it is, it can be beneficial. There are no focal depth changes with a 1/3 scaled target on the wall either... You have to be honest in dryfire as well. A dryfire supplement... not a replacement. I've not heard a single legit shooter say it's a replacement. I also know several legitimate GMs who think it's helpful and they haven't peddled discount codes, because they don't have one. Yeah there are some famous people shilling it. Marketing is a thing, too. I already have a VR and had a Shadow 2 handset printed that takes my same grips, so it will be reasonably accurate in feel and weight. For me the big thing will be, is the index going to be accurate.. we will see. I'm excited to give mine a shot and will probably do a short review on my youtube some day. And no, I've got no discount code to peddle:D

I think the trouble with a system like this vs dry fire is that if you are doing "bad" dry fire it's all on you to judge if you are being sufficiently accountable. Whereas if you are doing something wrong with this system (or something like a mantis) but it's providing you positive feedback for doing the wrong thing, I think that would do a lot more harm.

You contradict yourself through this entire video. 1st you say you only use 3/4 prong flash hiders because other muzzle devices don’t provide enough performance to bother with. 2nd you then pivot to how much muzzle brakes reduce recoil and how it can stunt your growth in training as a result. 3rd you say you prefer 2 stage triggers or Mil-spec triggers. HOWEVER!!! 4th Mil-spec triggers are single stage triggers. No thanks. I’ll get my advice and training from someone else. Have a good day!
