Thanks so much! This video helped improve my 1v1 skills from a defending point of view. It also assisted me as an attacker by helping me understand what the defender targets when defending.

I think the single most important part is the planting leg. Flexing or driving that knee over the ball will fix a lot of passing errors - aids in balance, adds natural follow through, gives you more power with less foot swings required, more control.

Brilliant video. I love the Quick Coerver version for coaches but I find this one visually demonstrates it better for players, particularly younger players. Hat tip to you. One other thing I would mention is often you want to be patient because often the goal is to get enough time for the defenders to recover and to slow down the attack. A young attacker will often waste the opportunity by just being indecisive albeit better more versed players probably won't fall into the same trap.
@WantTheBall2 ай бұрын
100% that’s a fantastic point. Slowing down the attacker allows defensive cover to get back. Thank you for the kind words 🙏

So despite the condistions you have told ‚will it be considered as a foul if we do it?
@WantTheBall3 ай бұрын
Ultimately when you slide you are not necessarily in control. It will come down to the referee as to whether your action is ‘excessive’ but I hope this video goes through correct technique so you can be as much in control of the slide tackle as possible and this will likely be recognised by the referee.

There are 6 defender types I don't know all them but I think I know three of them 1: the jockeying defender who's on his toes waiting for you to make a move and cutting off one side 2: the engaged defender that's just lunging in 3: The defender that's chasing you from behind How do you beat all them especially the jockeying defender (PLEASE ANSWER ANYONE)
@WantTheBall3 ай бұрын
1) personally this type of defender I wouldn’t give opportunity to wait I’d be more explosive quicker and move away quickly on approach. 2) this one will be more about your trickery - can you fake and feint them to make the wrong footing then get away 3) haha this one you just need to be quicker then them so they don’t catch you💨👀🤣

Good video, but when you talk about pressure you say to get close, but not too close, within about a yard. The at the end when you talk about patience you say to give them space and you are showing being two plus yards off of them. Which is it?
@WantTheBall3 ай бұрын
Thanks for this and it is a good observation. I think sometimes we can’t be too precise but by me saying a yard generally I’m meaning close but not literally on their toes. Patience re you may move back with them I while reading what they are going to do I would still recommend the same distance so in answer we can still say a yard maybe max a couple and if I’m further away in the video this is probably affording the ball carrier too much mistake and this is not correct.
