While knowing legit db numbers is important, you really have to question how they got those numbers because as you have just so eloquently pointed out, unless you are using exactly the same everything that they used, you're not going to get that same performance. Even ignoring humidity, sea level, the mayan calendar, black magic voodoo and even the earths rotation.

@coal_tactical Faster burning powder will achiever better suppression especially in longer barrels and/or than while using slower burning powders. Lower muzzle pressures too. Faster burning will also slightly reduce the velocity as well. For instance, titegroup is about 30 fps faster than clays, the very next faster burning powder on hogdons burn rate chart. 10mm direct blowback tho, recoil would be more than 556. also not as standard and youd have a strange bolt and some kinda magwell conversion,ehh no diddy. hear me out, 11" 224 valk with a 5" can, not whispering death but prob shoot flat as a board out to 100, no holdovers.
@utubegeneric2 ай бұрын
@bricethaice not all of them are blowback. There are DI 10mm and delayed uppers too. I am not aware of any mag conversions. Most use a 45/10mm glock lower. I'll also point out that in a 16" 10mm carbine barrel, with the right load of No.9 powder and 155 gr bullet, you can see around 1775 fps averages. That's more energy at the muzzle than a 55 gr 223 traveling 2950 fps. So, while it's not a long range sniper gun, don't discredit it for a "get home" gun. Also wanted to mention, even with blowback, there's things that can be done with buffers if you're concerned about recoil. I don't know why so many people get hung up and think pistol caliber carbines kick hard. It's still a freakin' pistol round. Anyone that thinks pistol cals are uncomfortable to shoot, please for the love of God and all that is good, never ever pick up a shotgun. You'll HATE it !!
@bricethaice2 ай бұрын
@@utubegeneric ya 10mm is badass. ive never actually done a pistol cal ar (dunno why) but am aware that blowback sucks more because everyone comments about it, di would be the way to go. my thought process is if its an ar platform might as well be a rifle caliber, dedicated pistol mag lower kinda changes that i guess.
@utubegeneric2 ай бұрын
@@bricethaice lots of people say that blowback semi's sucks. Reality is a lot different. The pussification of America has been ongoing for a few generations now and at the end of the day, you're still shooting a pistol caliber. Putting a pistol cartridge in a shoulder fired weapon doesn't magically transform it into something it's not. I wonder how many old cowboys in the wild west complained about the recoil when they started getting their lever actions in 357 instead of 45-70. My guess, none of them and it's the same principle. Smaller bullet, less powder. less kick. Yet, here we are in 2024 where online forums are full of soy and estrogen wussies. Lots of what you read online about PCC's are just regurgitating foolishness. If someone says they can't handle a hi point carbines, you know not to believe anything else they say. Further, PCC's are one of the fastest growing markets in the gun world. Even S&W now have their hands in the cookie jar.
@hardlylivin66022 ай бұрын
@@utubegeneric Let me start by saying, I'm not trying to take a dump on 10mm pcc's but I want to understand your reasoning here. And this is coming from somebody who thoroughly loves pcc's. In fact I just finished my 8" radial delay ar9 build this week. Shoots buttery smooth. I don't think 10mm in that case is a good idea. For one thing, you should never use handloads for any defensive application as you'll destroy yourself in court....... if it comes to that. Secondly if you're using a 16" barrel it's no longer a pdw/truck gun. It's just a rifle at point. And even though a 10mm may produce more energy than a 5.56 with that barrel length. It won't maintain that advantage for long enough for it be a benefit. Based on my ballistic calculator reading, using a hornady xtp 10mm 155gr bullet at 1775fps you'll lose your power advantage over a 55gr 5.56/223 in under 25 yards. You also have to take into consideration ammo availability and weight. A 55gr m193 load is a few grains lighter than a 115gr 9mm fmj, and if that's the case, I don't even have to weigh a 10mm cartridge to find out which is heavier.
@utubegeneric2 ай бұрын
@@hardlylivin6602 I wish that youtube hadn't deleted my previous comment. I'm not downing your response either. I would however like to mention a few things. Carbine length is generally classified as any barrel length shorter than a rifle. If we're talking about AR15, in this instance, that is 20". So, 16" barrel is still yet a carbine and why I referred to it as such. As for handloads, I always use handloads. I stopped buying commercial ammunition a decade ago (except 22lr simply because I still can't reload 22). Everything else including shotgun ammo, I load myself. As for overzealous prosecutors, we don't necessarily deal with that here. And even if I did, I would still use my handloads. Why? For starters, handloaded ammunition is not illegal to make. Is not illegal to possess. Is not illegal to use. Therefore, they are just as legal. So, the overzealous prosecutor should be made to have a harder time proving you broke the law by either making it or using it in a defensive manner when it's not unlawful. That's where having a good lawyer comes in. Nor have I ever heard of an instance whether store bought or hand made ammo tipped the scale either way in criminal court. Besides, there are commercial ammunition that loads to the maximum pressures on the market too. For that matter, if pressures or velocities were even a consideration, any commercial +P ammunition would be unlawful. They would be comparing pistol and rifle velocities in every trial. We both know that a 30-06 has more energy than any pistol caliber or many other smaller rifle calibers. Is that going to become the new "standard" of measurement for trial courts? I don't think so. People just twist themselves into knots sometimes. If you know of an instance where someone was convicted based on thee ammunition they used, I would be very interested in obtaining the court records to that case, so please share if you do. As for what I would use to defend myself with, I'm not limited to what I think some prosecutor would like me to use. I'd use whatever was available to me at the time. Flamethrower, cast iron skillet full of hot grease, knives, machinegun, fists, trebuchet, pistol, broken stick, shotgun. Bazooka. Drone. Feel free to let your imagination roam. As for your comparison about 223, where I live, I don't get really long shots. Most any shot I would take would be well within 100 yards. Actually would be more likely to be within 75 yards. I have a lot of bears, big cats, etc. I'm not opposed to anyone using 223 for their circumstances and situations if that's what they want. I have several 223's. I rarely ever use them though. I gravitate more towards bigger heavier bullets. They work better for me.
