Xfce tends to build a lot of functionality into the desktop click - like managing workspaces with the middle-click, taking a screenshot, or launching whatever from the right-click menu. There is some decent advantage to having the panels separated like this just to naturally expose these functionalities within the extra space.

we dive into a lot of distros but what is your favorite and what is your daily driver?

Nice looking distro, and a great video. I'd have to change that font though, and install Evolution mail, then it would be just right for me! My rig is quite capable of running KDE, but I love XFCE way more - it makes my pc fly and I love the apps.

I really like Xfce, when it comes to DE. But I've always had one issue with it, the ability to download a file in Firefox and at the same time being able to lock my screen. When I do this, the download "fails", I'm using a wired connection, so it got nothing to do with some Wifi dropping out. This never happens in Cinnamon, MATE or even when I'm using Openbox with XScreenSaver. I've asked around because couldn't find an answer to it and nobody seem to know why, is there more than one way of locking your screen? It is LightDM, maybe some sort of a setting?

I enjoy your videos. Good job. I have noticed that RAM usage is discussed in most of your videos, and in a lot of other Linux KZbin videos. Unless I am rendering a video, my computer never even comes close to reaching 4 GB. Even rendering a video and multitasking, on a fresh reboot I use less than 4 GB and slightly higher if I have not rebooted in a while. So, it seems to be a non-issue unless somebody is rendering videos on an ancient computer. The reason I bring this up is that I wonder if the Linux community's focus on minimal RAM usage is holding back performance - if the system uses more RAM effectively, the less the system needs to access the SSD/HDD. This should reduce latency and provide better performance. Freecad, for example, does not use much RAM, but it is painfully slow, especially performing operations on complex parts. I wonder if utilizing more RAM effectively would speed it up. If so, I would be all for that. Let's start using more of my system's 16 GB of RAM if it will improve performance.

I think the ram usage check comes from people bitching and moaning about bloated distros. IMO, it's worthless in this day and age when most people have 8-16GB of ram in their PC's. But if it keeps the suckless gestapo from commenting on every video, I hope he keeps doing it.
