I picked up this saw with stand for $50 as a return. No complaints about that. I found that the fence was the most annoying part of the saw, though much easier to use than many other entry-level saws. Measuring the right side of the fence to the edge of the main table and subtract from 10" will give you a very close cutoff dimension. So if I wanted to rip something to 3-1/2" I would just measure the fence to the edge of the table to 6-1/2" and it would be right on. The saw came with no accessories when I bought it, I called up Kobalt and they sent me every accessory for free, just took about 3 weeks to come in the mail but included everything that came with the saw originally.

What to do when your crown is wood finished?
@TrueGritDevelopment7 күн бұрын
I would fill in with compound and finish with wood filler that is stainable. Or install a 1 by on the ceiling and nail the crown to it. Fill the space b/n the 1 by and the ceiling, so the 1 by is level (assuming this is a new install). For an existing job, use wood filler.

Most definitely wait. What are you going to use between the stone? Mortar or cement?

Mortar mix. You also need a shaping tool and as it starts to set up you use a wire brush to clean up all the excess

Great explanation of how to install, thank you. I'm trying to flush mount metal doors (20" tall by 32" wide by 1" thick square tubing with sheet metal exterior face) for a cargo box on my truck. I don't want to see the hinges. Is there a hinge available for my application?
@TrueGritDevelopment11 күн бұрын
Thank you. Honestly I haven’t built something like that (would love that for my truck). I would suggest talking to the dude at Lowe’s or HD maybe? I would think something a little on the commercial side would be appropriate given it will be used outside and on the truck. If I come across something, I’ll let you know.
@NYCBugkiller11 күн бұрын
If I did this job the way you are doing it here in New Jersey, within a few years those stones will be breaking apart and some would be sinking here and there. The way I was told how to do it you need to dig down about a foot and then fill the trench with concrete and set the stones in the concrete about 3/4 of an inch apart and you need to run a string along all the rocks to make sure they are all set at the same height
@TrueGritDevelopment11 күн бұрын
I agree with you. Setting it in a trench will most likely help it set better. It’s been a while here and they haven’t sunk; however, I’ve noticed movement due to water icing and breaking underneath. If I do this project again, I would trench and fill In crush run rock for drainage.

You should replace it. Use a circular saw set to 3/4” and cut out the plywood that is rotten. If the framing underneath is rotten too, you must sister it before installing the new ply. Hope this helps.

@@TrueGritDevelopment ok so if I'm understanding you correctly if my *closet* permits it will still vent from the rear as traditional home dryers do. I'm not stacking they going side by side. Thanks.

Correct. I had to build a panel cabinet, stack the units and push back, so they’re not sticking out too much because I had limited space. If you’re going side by side and putting a counter top for example, you should be good with rear venting.

Going to try to do unfinished wood cabinets this weekend. Can we use a paint brush and roller instead of spray? Will the finish look close to being sprayed?
@TrueGritDevelopmentАй бұрын
With a cabinet grade roller on flat surfaces, yes. The brush is inconsistent with how much paint is applied; therefore, you may end up with more paint in the corners for example. If you have to use a brush, I would use a high quality bristle and use flotrol to extend the time paint takes to dry (that helps the paint spread more evenly). Also, use the method on a scrap piece or one cabinet and cabinet door only. If you’re happy with the result, do the rest. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

not the best way of doing it when the wires goes bad gonna need to remove a lot of pavers to replace, its better to run lights that work with conduit with your steps so in the future when a light goes out due to wires you just disconnect wires from light and pull out damaged wires and fish through new wire ,also retaining walls should sit on clean gravel as base and backfilled with gravel aswell so rain water can get out . anything with dust will eventually erode due to rain and cause uneven walls even failure its ok to save money but if you have to do it twice what did you really save!
@TrueGritDevelopmentАй бұрын
Two great points. In fact my pavers are starting to look somewhat uneven in certain areas and I had no idea why. My hardscaper used gravel for the base and installed a French drain system, but I guess he topped it off with dusty stone? A conduit for the lights is always ideal. Thanks for your input.

Doesn't the door get secured also by the flanges? I see you snapped them off. Or are they really not needed.
@TrueGritDevelopmentАй бұрын
New construction doors come with flanges. You cannot use the flange on a replacement job unless you remove the siding. In this case I removed the flanges to use the door for a replacement. Hope that makes sense.

That little skirt on the lower outside is NOT that easy to clip on. I've NEVER been able to do that. I've had to cut a little channel on one side and then slide it on by tapping it with a mallet. I've also had success using a flat head screwdriver to go through the channel on the skirt and pry it open all the way down. This opens it up a bit so you can pop it on. In both cases, a liberal amount of non-petroleum lubricant is required. Also, the skirt is a little longer than the window is wide so it needs to be trimmed once installed. VERY POOR design. Otherwise, a nice product and easy installation.

@TrueGritDevelopmentАй бұрын
It’s a 1 day job. If it’s just you and you own the business, than charge your daily rate. If you need a helper, you will add that up. If you own the business and sending out a crew, it will be their pay, plus your profit which must cover business expense and a profit margin. I had a company charge $2500 including the door, but that was a company and not a 1 man operation. Hope this helps.

i am very interested in the steps you didnt show, like storm window removal. It also looks like the interior side stops were already removed.
@TrueGritDevelopment2 ай бұрын
My bad. The storm windows are typically screwed into the wood framing of the window and caulked. Simply run your knife through the caulk to break it up then unscrew the storm window. If the screws are stripped, drill them out. The inside stop is the casing around the window. You don’t need to remove these actually, if you’re using this method of installation (taking the sashes out). Hope this helps.
