Your plug on the airbox drain hose @6:12 . Is that a missing stock piece, or a mod. It makes perfect sense. Possibly why the air filter get so inexplicably dirty.

I still find it had to believe a stock motor makes such poor power compared to other 650s , is the intake tract too small or cams really bad , it's still 650 and a motor doesn't know its a klr or a dr or xl , something is holding that motor back , probably restricted ? .

If anyone is doing this, I will tell you an easier way to get the engine in. We all learned it the hard way. After I scratched my frame, and still didn't manage to get the engine in, I realised that is so much easier to lay the engine down on its side, clutch cover up, and drop the frame over, takes seconds. No wrapping no blankets no straggle .

Did I see you replace the water pump shaft? Any reason for that?

Thank you so much! This video was exactly what I needed. I was trying to figure out where all the parts went and the water pump and I was having a hell of a time. Although I'm pretty sure you forgot a single o-ring or at least to show it in the propeller which is a pain in the ass. To get out you require a needle and I have no idea how people put it back in

Hi from South Africa thank you for the videos of the gen 1 klr. I am currently rebuilding a gen 1 klr 650 and using your video to remember were all the parts go. Beautiful video work.

Glory be to God in the highest! So, what i gleaned from that video is listening is just as important as watching. Are you implying the wiring harness should have been the next step? Before cooling system. I guess it really doesn't matter if you enjoy putting things on then take them off and putback on again. Lol like me.

It seems that everything on this bike has a trick to installation. Great camera work. And thanks for not trying to be a comedian, political figure or a know it all. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge and not being a KLR snob. I plan on owning one of these bikes in the future. I am educating myself ahead of time.

That chain costs $300 CAN , they HAD to build it from top qualitty metals . Yet many found it to be wanting . Reason : not enough tooth contact with the crankshaft sproket to be really long lasting . Moreover , the crank will be toast as well as the chain after too short a while , as its sprocket is integral. I liked the KLR , was considering buying one. Not any more.
