How did you prep the frame? Did you end up sandblasting it, or just sandpaper? What grit? any special treatment for rusty areas? Thanks in advance.

I would have liked to sandblast the frame but it's expensive these days. So I too a scuff bristle brush on my drill and scuffed the paint up really well and I used 200 grit where I couldn't get with a drill. The sanding took care of any rust areas . I then followed up with a degreaser and then a break cleaner and compressed air.

You should have painted the frame something other than what you can find on stock KLRs imho.

Yeah probably so, black is cheap though and just looks good IMO.

Are you going to make a new front fairing. Im getting ready to do a 100% rebuild on my bike. Im going to a rally look but trying yo stay close to the original look.
