Congratulations Mandy on a brilliant effort - comfortably under 40 mins, which is great. Huddersfield is a fantastic parkrun. Full of charcter snd despite running it just once, it is my Parkrun PB course.

@@MrCol104 thanks Colin. Yes the day looked perfect but it was soo cold so run walk seemed like the best option. I wouldn’t think of Huddersfield as a pb course, especially with Armley so close lol. Hi Craig, great video, I had such a great time with you both🎯 We had perfect running conditions, although it was a bit cold (3-4C🥶). Loved being Mandy’s wing man and helping her to a really impressive result. The watch thing, it’s weird because I didn’t see my watch pause at all (it also buzzes on restart) but more importantly Mandy’s Strava showed 5.21km, mine dead on 5km. Yours 5.02km. So that extra 200m at our pace, over a minute for sure. So let the record state it was 37:25 for Mandy💪💪💪💪. Case closed😂. And yes, I’ll be back in ‘25 to support Mandy🚀

That looked good fun! The watch issue is a weird one though - if it was coming up short, it could be an auto-pause problem, but showing a greater time than the actual one is just odd. Google suggests it can happen on Garmin watches and might be fixable with a reset (or battery replacement).
@TheRunningWhale2 күн бұрын
Thanks Stewart, it really was so much fun. I think you’re right with the pause feature on the watches. Had a look and nothing stood out as set up wrong, but when I looked at the Strava maps, when it put Andy and Mandy’s together, it looked very wobbly so I reckon they were both busy taking photos and sight seeing 😂😂

This is great. The video-less mode sounds like a game changer. Having to export it twice due to using Virb made it a long slog, the one time I did an overlay. You're a wizard with all this stuff. If you did get chance to show your Virb process, that'd be good, but don't go out of your way just for me 🙂👍 Incidentally, you said Telemetry was expensive but didn't say how much... dare i ask?
@TheRunningWhale6 күн бұрын
Cheers pal, no drama I wouldn’t mind doing a follow up and just go through the virb so will definitely do that. The overlay software is around £117 depending on the euro to sterling rate when you buy it. If it’s something you do frequently, the time it saves you makes it worth every penny (in my opinion) 👍

Hi Craig, you're a great presenter, I watched this on my phone before breakast so couldn't see the detail of the editing screens but I have to say that I was surprised how much work goes into a video, did you say 5-6 or 6-7 hours - wow. I do it all on my iPhone and it's time-consuming but seems simpler process-wise (no overlays or importing gpx files etc). Looking forward to the meet up on Sat:)
@TheRunningWhale7 күн бұрын
Thanks Andy, very kind 😊 Yes there is quite a bit goes into the pov’s I do but I do but it’s all worth it. Cheers Craig. What a great Video. Really interesting to see how you put these together. I’m a real technophobe so parts of it went over my head a bit but great content all the same. @TheRunningWhale7 күн бұрын
Thanks Colin. Even if you don’t do this sort of thing, it’s nice for me that you get a bit more of an insight into what goes into making these videos so glad you had a watch pal. The tech investment has made things easier and quicker over time and at the same time, kept my inner geek happy lol

Useful vid. Looks too complicated for me 😂. I use the insta360 app to overlay the stats, as that is easy for my little pea brain to cope with 🫛🧠.
@TheRegularRunner8 күн бұрын
It's actually interesting how similar our workflows are despite me not actually copying you (regardless of how much I've joked about it 😂). The main thing I do differently is I keep the camera footage in 4:3 when I export from insta and then I just zoom in a bit in Davinci Resolve which gives me a bit of vertical wiggle room in case the camera angle wasnt quite where I want it. I guess I could just get better at pointing the camera forwards though 😂 I've also found that Davinci Resolve's effects (especially drop shadow) work really nicely on the transparent overlays if you like that kind of thing. Thanks for the info though. It's reassuring to see that I'm picking up similar approaches to you with all of your experience.
@TheRunningWhale8 күн бұрын
Cheers pal. See, nothing you didn’t already know lol. You can seeder a drop shadow or opaque border so that the gauges show clearer. I just don’t tend to do that because I know as a gamer, these things draw focus and I like them to blend in to almost invisibility if you’re not focusing on them. Pretty sure nobody enjoyed the overlays on top gear 2 on the Super Nintendo 😂😂. Glad it was of reassurance and interest to you mate. At least I have somewhere to direct folks if they ask in the future 😉
@TheRegularRunner8 күн бұрын
Haha I probably owe you a favour or 3 anyways 🤣 Maybe it's the stats nerd in me, but I find myself watching the numbers (even when I'm editing my own videos and I already know what they're gonna do 🤣) so I like them to stand out a bit. Also, all my years of playing Gran Turismo means I read the gauges with my peripheral vision.
