I saw this on Broadway with the original cast, including SJB. I hated this number. Thought it was hackneyed and forced. And it’s a terrible song. Watching it again, I still think so. Horrible song. I agree that her performance was great. Too bad the song is so bad.

I remember going to see this film at a theatre in Dallas when it came out. Guess I was expecting too much considering all the talent involved. I think LiZa's Dad was not really well at this point in his life. I know LiZa wanted to work with him and vice versa, so this is unfortunate for both talents, and all concerned. Seems LiZa's judgement, her instincts, her Oscar win for Cabaret, and her talent decided to take flight this time. Regardless, she's my favorite and easily forgiven. Although she's not performing anymore, (and I have seen her many times) she has left a remarkable shoBiZ legacy. Love her.

Garland imitators can never resist going overboard, creating a ridiculous caricature which strays further and further from the actual person as the embarrassing performance progresses.

I'm really sick of Chinese doctors in Australia. They know they're accompanying Asian abductors. Asian drug pushers. It's still not illegal for doctors & quacks to enforce drugs & medication in Australia; or for them to charge for consultation & pharmacists to charge for drugs if they want to. They should be able to. 2023.

I recall going to see The. Boy From Oz in Sydney in its opening weeks at a Sunday show, and I went to a theatre industry performance, when the audience was stacked with other performers from all the shows playing in town at that time. And when Chrissy sang this, she tore the hell out of the song and held onto the final note for all it was worth - and the crowd erupted. She stopped the show with the ferocious power of her talent and performance. An amazing memory.

"Do It Again" is a definite high point (sadly, one of few) of this disastrous picture, one I wish Liza had never made, but understandably she wanted to work with her father before it was too late. Everything (except for the legendary Bergman) went south in production, almost immediately. Oh, well. Moviewise, Liza will always have "Cabaret," "New York, New York," "Arthur," "The Sterile Cuckoo," and "Stepping Out". And an Oscar at 26 in a tight category that year.

if the studio hadn't literally butchered this movie, we might have had something. (Vincente Minnelli's original cut was almost 3 hours, the AIP release version is 97 minutes.)

Geez, why did the choreographer make that dancer at 1:21 be a stool? Don’t tell me it was an artistic choice to show she was tired & needed a rest so she humiliate a dancer a la King and I & made him kowtow as her personal stool & servant

No. Just...no. The acting. The cheesy music. The dialogue sounds like the old Hercules movies dubbing. Blame it on editing if you must but it's just a stinko movie. I say this as a Liza Minnelli fan.

Why does Judy come up
@misstiem8340

Because this is from The Boy from Oz, the life story of Peter Allen. Judy Garland was Peter Allen’s mother in law and he wrote this song about her.

I saw her in this show, and she was incredible. I was only eight years old when Judy died, so I never knew her at that point except as Dorothy Gale. Watching Isabel Keating to me was like watching the healthy and talented Judy from her 1963-1964 series. Both women were terrific!
