did anyone have a what sounds like air purging sound after doing this? my truck makes this weird noise when driving for the first 10 mins like its purging air thru the valve. My temps def went down they average about 160 now so it works great..

@JamieRabago-x3k unusual symptom after this repair, I'd double check the seals, fluid level after a few cycles/ short trips and see if you can drive around with live data on a scanner looking at relevant pids while it's running... if all that checks out and still have issue, perhaps a faulty part

In city driving, it stays around 155°F but about 20 minutes on the highway, and it goes down to 125°F. I think that's too effective at 1 thing and could negatively affect other things with the expected viscosity for that fluid at >180°.

Correct me if I’m wrong but modern thermostats are designed to stick open when failed, so will flow constantly. The problem with the original part isn’t that it failed, it’s that it was designed to run too warm.

Sorry, finding quality parts if found at all has been troubling for all makes the last couple years. For this, I would do general searches for the part numbers and see where they pop up. While searching you might come across interchange or updated numbers for the ones shown & if nothing else, I believe there is an aftermarket kit to swap out from within the housing. The latter should be available as an alternative, I think others have posted names in the comments or will certainly come up in general searching. Good luck

@@jaybilawchuk2225 I didn't take my pan out. I pulled the cooler lines at the radiator and started the truck to pump about a gallon out first. Then, I took the pan bolts out and pumped the remaining fluid out with a cheap hand pump and wiped the pan out. Put a new filter in, filled it with new fluid, started the truck to let it pump out until bright red, attached the lines, and topped the fluid off. Can all be done without completely getting the pan out. Just FYI
@jaybilawchuk2225
@jaybilawchuk2225 Жыл бұрын
@@markman7 yeah that’s true. Sorry for the smart ass reply. You’re right, it can be done in different ways like that too. I just don’t know why they don’t have a drain plug in the pan like almost every vehicle does now. That’s all. My next thought was to suck fluid from the fill plug on the side of the trans. But not sure if tubing would get right to bottom. Just for a quick drain and fill between full services. Just frustrating coming from a full ford history to this one, and I see so many things that are so far behind from my 14 ford I had. Other than that, I do really enjoy this truck. 6.2 is such a great engine. Not sure on the 8 speed yet tho. lol. Once again, sorry for the rude.
