Two great songs by two great bands singing in their native tongues (Rammstein - German, The HU - Mongolian). The HU is performing the song "This Is Mongol" and that question came: "Where are they?" Really? Of course in the video they are in Mongolia (that's Asia, somewhere between Russia and China). Genghis Khan and his successors (1206-1294) built the Mongolian empire that - at it's peak - was the largest congiguous sphere of influence in human history so far (from today's China in the East to the middle of Europe in the West and Pakistan in the South). Fortunately you've taken one of their original songs and and not one of their collaborations with Western rock musicians. For me their original songs are way better. Regarding Rammstein's "Ich will": I assume the inspiration for the song and the video was a true crime. In 1988 there was a bank heist in Germany (Gladbeck), after which the perpetrators fled and took hostages. During the escape, journalists conducted several interviews with the perpetrators and obstructed police work. After 54 hours of flight through almost half of Germany, the perpetrators were caught. Two hostages and a policeman were killed. The behavior of the journalists, who hindered the work of the police due to their close proximity to the events, later sparked an intensive public debate. In the video Rammstein seems to provoke media attention by the heist, not primarely to steal money. The line "Wir wollen in Beifall untergehen." (We want to drown in applause.) indicates it. Yes, the song portrays the power of the media, the power of images and the irresponsibility of the media. It also shows in an extremely exaggerated way how far people will go to attract attention, to be in the spotlight and to exercise at least temporary power over other people. At the end, the portrait of one of the gang members hangs oversized on the wall and the perpetrators are awarded a media prize. The content of the song is also an allusion to the Gladbeck disaster. In which bank robbers on the run hijacked a bus and took all the passengers hostage. The media had an inglorious position in this drama because they obstructed the work of the police, treated the bank robbers like pop stars in their interviews and in the end were not entirely innocent of the deaths of hostages.
