Thanks Dan, I did poke around and finally back to Virtual box. Some forums suggest there may be a limitation with Hyper-V and linux distros when it comes to system resources.

Cheers Dude was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my Ubuntu Server could not be networked with Hyper-v. I watched your video till half way mark so i could see the method to create the Internal switch, my problem was I but was not then selecting the external option and selectingthe NIC to be used to bridge the connections as i thought that was for the external switch option.( I also wasn't using the correct one as my microsever has two NIC's, rookie errors!)

Glad this video could help. I know allot of people are interested in running linux on windows machines. I'm surprised hyper-v doesn't setup default virtual NIC but I guess they want the user to do it. Originally hyper-v didn't work with wireless networks but they finally fixed that. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video, I tried Mint 18, all good except for the 'No Audio'. Tried the enhanced options on Hyper-V etc but no luck. The Audio properties doesn't list system audio & same with lspci. Any thoughts /

This is interesting. I haven't tested the audio myself. If I have time I will take a look. I would try different audio adapters if they are available in hyper v. Maybe one will work with mint.

just right click on the start menu for those "registry shortcuts" Dynamic memory is so much better to use if you have many VM's running. You are setting the maximum memory it will use from your physical total. If it's idling then it will free up ram for the rest of the server. I use an "external switch" if you want to get OUT to the internet unless you're going through an internal proxy. FYI, good luck.

Great tutorial I got 16.10 running on my windows install. Do you plan to make a series on seting up a samba file share with different user accounts? Is there anywhere you would suggest for me to learn this?

I would love to do a series on samba...I will add it to the list. I would check out the ubuntu docs. help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/samba-fileserver.html Usually they are a good start and then tweak and test as needed. Thanks for watching.
