Hey, so about road and driving conditions - I read that locals drive recklessly and traffic is chaotic, and roads are in bad shape, so is it safe for a foreigner to self drive?

To think that the Citadel today is in the control of the rebels. When safe & if rebels hold onto the city for long, it would be nice for you to visit Aleppo once again. Comment on your experience.

It happens everywhere. Sometimes cults. Sometimes trafficking. Sometimes they want to rob you. Most of the time people are being nice though. Where, when, and how matters. But yeah, most people wouldn't think to ask that unless they wanted something. I wouldn't tell them crap especially in a party district, I learned the hard way. Not everyone's good! But a lot of people are good. 2 people is a red flag.

All my love to Armenia and the Armenian people from a North American Jew (being born, growing up, and still living in Montreal, parents born and raised in the US). The Jews and Armenians have much in common, including a history of diaspora and of genocide and persecution, as well as being gifted/educated.
