If you guys are ever interested I would like to review your bows on my channel. Next year, I would like to review a few traditional bows per month from Three Rivers if possible. Also , I could do a few before this Christmas if you would like as well. Feel free to check out my channel I started this year, my bow reviews have received pretty good traction, just let me know thanks!

How about showing us what the speeds are with a human shooting the bow instead of a machine. A machine does not show a very accurate representation.

It is more accurate for testing the speed

I have a custom made 62" recurve take down bow I have a set of longbow limbs that can can be put on.They came with the recurve. With the long bow limbs on. Is this bow now classified as a long bow?
@3RiversArchery10 күн бұрын
I would classify it as a longbow if the string is not touching the belly of the limbs yes. Some will say the shelf cannot be cut to, or past, center to be a longbow, but most would at least call it "modern longbow."

Are they American made or….? Please specify, it’s important to some buyers like myself.
@3RiversArchery10 күн бұрын
We specify all items on our web site that are USA made as a filtering option during search and navigation. Also, item product pages have a icon to represent the USA flag as well. These bows are imports.

Interesting results as I swore I heard Jeff Phillips say that, all else being equal, a one piece bow should shoot faster than a takedown, but these results were the opposite 🤔
@chadsyryca527511 күн бұрын
I would think it would have more to do with the length of the limb not whether it’s a takedown or one piece shorter limb should equal more speed

i am curiuos why the one peice bow shot an arrow 20 fps less than the take down bow...when the arrows where the same on both bows...
@ThirdLawPair13 күн бұрын
The 20 fps difference was when he switched back to the hunting weight arrow (10gpp) from the target weight arrow (8gpp). At a given arrow weight, the takedown bow shot about 5 fps faster. Which is unusual, but not a big difference at all.

How high profile of a fletching should I have if I’m going to be shooting a wide cut single bevel Broadhead? I’m trying to avoid the typical blazer vanes. I really like the shield cut X3 vanes by bohning because of how quiet they can be.

I have a very old bear tar tar recurve bow and I recently snapped one of the limbs. I'm wondering if it's possible to cut both limbs off and use the handle to hold replacement limbs.
@3RiversArchery28 күн бұрын
if it is a one piece bow where the limb broke, then no you cannot cut the other limb off and mount takedown bow limbs to the riser. It would be structurally unsecure for that level of stress.

Can you use the same clamp for a right wing vs left wing?
@3RiversArcheryАй бұрын
You will want to match the clamp to the wing. Though with a straight clamp, you match the offset. So a right offset should be with right wing feathers.

Im looking to hunt maybe once in awhile and target shooting.. Im not new to archery Ive had some experience with a 35lb long bow. I defiantly want a long bow so that being said , I'm about 5'10 and my reach is 29.60. I'm a 3 under shooter what size longbow is right for me if I want it to be on the longer side than the shorter side?

I dont understand ? you said 5/8" for split so you go 5/8" up. but then you say go up another 1/8" which would be 3/4" but then say its a 1/2" above center? So where are we neasurig center from?
@3RiversArcheryАй бұрын
My apologies, I misspoke during the filming. It would be 3/4" height.

How can you push an arrow in there backwards - feather first - and not destroy the fletching?
@3RiversArcheryАй бұрын
Feathers can ruffle, but they will smooth out. With a lot of in and out they will wear and tear over time, but it does take a lot. Putting back in that way can be saved for hunting situations though if you want to keep wear down.

Hi, Is it best with split finger, to hold the arrow right in the crease behind the 1st knuckle, near the tip of the finger? Thank you, Frank
@3RiversArchery2 ай бұрын
It really depends on your comfort level, as the beginner will need to have a bit more grip on the string as it can normally hurt if too little. I have been shooting all my life, and I normally go mid-finger pad before the first knuckle. Where a beginner, being at the first knuckle feels more comfortable to be able to shoot. Less finger you have on the string should result in less issues of a poor release though.

Im confused. You said for split finger you go 5/8" above rest. Then you said for 3 finger under you go 1/8" more to 1/2". If you went 1/8" beyond 5/8" that would be 3/4", not 1/2". What am I missing?
@3RiversArchery2 ай бұрын
I miss spoke in the video. Basically, jus the nock height higher than what you would do for split finger shooting, so 3/4" would be more like it. Though don't hesitate to change it if you see the nock kicking up/down.

For a 54 lbs recurve, @ 26 inches draw, you're pulling around 48-49 lbs. These arrows even though heavy are awefully slow...You should be getting another 15 sto 25 fps at least depending on arrow weight. I shot a Black Widow that was 66-67 lbs @ 28 inches. 510 grains arrow gave 225 fps and 580 grains arrow (the ones I hunted with) gave 210-215 fps. I have hunted for several decades. The idea is shot placement and good penetration which with your bow you can achieve ...quietly I might add, with a 480 to 520 grains arrow. Edited to add that I limit my shots to 20 yards, preferably 15 yards. You're not responding to people asking you what bow you're shooting. Great effort to put a few arrows through a chronograph but give much more detail in the video. Bow make, your draw, draw weight, why you prefer such heavy arrows...etc. I've had pass throughs on big bears at close range, 8/9 yards with 530 grain arrows that planted deep on trees behind the bear. In short, your arrows are far too heavy.

I have a 32 inch draw length what would be the best recurve bow for me. I am new to archery and I want to hunt with a recurve
@3RiversArchery2 ай бұрын
We usually recommend a bow with at least double the shooters draw length, so a 64” bow would be ideal for you. Take a look at the Hoyt Satori with 21” riser and long limbs. www.3riversarchery.com/hoyt-satori-takedown-recurve21-riser.html
