KEI vehicles are not allowed on the roads at all in my current state of residence: Kentucky. Licensing and registration is also being revoked in some states that used to allow them and existing owners are not permitted to be grandfathered in. Big3 automakers don’t want these cutting into their profits on oversized gas guzzlers. Some states use safety to outlaw them yet they allow motorcyclists to ride without a helmet.

I saw that backhoe on Mass Ave too! Then started digging into commercial/construction registration, and it kind of dead-ended as I couldn't find enough information. It should have a special use plate for driving on the road to/from a job site, but I'm not sure why that one was allowed full plates.
@AnythingWheeled6 күн бұрын
The same one? There are plenty of these around with a plate. I was in Dorchester near Morrissey Blvd. I used to have a commercial plate on my regular car and it was great for parking in Boston. It cost more per year and you're supposed to some signage for your "business" but that's it. Maybe it is worth pursuing for the trucks. I saw a Kubota UTV thing that certainly is not designed to be an on road vehicle floating around on commercial plates on my most recent video on this topic. If they can title and register non road vehicles they can title and register our import stuff. If it means getting a commercial plate then it is what it is.

If you can shift out of 4x4 I would call that part time. Another thing is if there is a fill and drain hole you can always simply fill the fluid in until it starts to spill back out of the fill hole. Some vehicles have a check hole and that would be the one to check for spilling out. Put a little more in when it starts to slowly spill then screw the plug in.

I'm from Connecticut and as far as I can tell this is not happening here....... yet. The real question is why? I have seen these small trucks around and I really don't see where they are causing any problem. In fact its the larger than life new crop of 80k pickups that are unsustainable in the future. Everyone driving around in vehicles that have a bigger footprint than WW2 main battle tanks does not correspond with a rising population. My guess? The auto dealers association. One of the largest lobbing groups here in Connecticut and the same reason that Teslas cant be sold here in Connecticut. The claim... its for the safety of the people or the preservation of instate jobs and hometown communities... but we all know thats BS. Its plain old greed and getting rid of any competition through legislation. Absolutely against everything this country stands for.

I recently got into this stuff like bringing import vehicles in not necessarily the trucks, and telling people about these awesome little fun things. I'm used to everything being illegal in Massachusetts so I was surprised they had no hassles registering before this and that out of state people were titling them here too. I thought it was a breath of fresh air that MA had something fun going on and then bam here we are from out of the blue. MA is missing out on all the free revenue from taxes and fees of the out of state people doing theirs here too.

@@dlmurray55 I don't know if it makes it "better" per se but the timing chain upgrade vs timing belt is nice. Yes the chain can still wear out and stretch/snap but it has a longer life and that's way less likely than with a rubber timing belt. It also makes it lighter than the old engine so that helps a bit. If you were modding the engine to make it put out more power or whatnot, the F6A is preferred for the stronger iron block.

Don't need poptop or slideout box. Attach tent to the backdoor/roof to get a windproof area. Then a slide out kitchen under the bed so you can stand outside to cook or change clothes. If you are worried about the cold, build an additional wall with a door at the back and insulate with xps foam. Then you have an insulated area inside and a tented area outside to cook and eat.

We're trying to hold litigation as the final nuclear option. If we can gain traction without them it's best and preferred. Technically the RMV is within their right to deny any vehicle. There is a law that says the Registrar (head of RMV) can deny registration to any vehicle they deem so. We are trying to get them to change their mind, and or get the legislature to pass a bill stating that all vehicles should be eligible (probably with some clause of passing inspection or having all the necessary road stuff like seatbelts, lights etc or something like that).
