Another great video as always. Thanks so much. I very rarely go that way. My preferred route to BC is the Yellowhead, and though it's slightly longer from my place in central Alberta, it I was less stressful. There's still probably 400 km of 2 lane from Kamloops to the AB border on highway 1. Although 16 and 5 are 2 lane until you get to Hinton, they are less busy.

Ive been hoping to do Hwy 5 soon, ive been there before but the lack of passing lanes at all between Hwy 1 and 16 seems daunting, but hopefully I’ll go on a quieter day. Been hoping to film Jasper for many years now

Thank you once again for another great video! At first, I thought you used your new camera as you can see the bumps on the bridge. GoPros do a great job of stabilization, so the bridge must have been pretty rough. The big dig is quite interesting. They might do that in Ontario on the 401. I say they need to start at the section between 409 and 427, and at least add collectors on that section.

I definitely miss the digital stabilization of the GoPros, as they can be a lot more resilient over bumps, which makes sense based off its intended use! Can’t avoid the bumps when they’re bad however

Beautiful route! The speedlimit pass banff seems really low. Its a wide multilane freeway with animal fencing on both side so 90km per hour seems really low. It looks like a route that should be 110km/h standard. I rarely see anyone going the speedlimit, usually atleast 110km/h Oh I learned since its a national park it has to be 90km/h max. Im still surprised they don't make some sort of exception. There is so much variation in speed there it seems kinda dangerous sometimes.
@tyfrank3427
@tyfrank3427 5 күн бұрын
It's Parks Canada that sets the speed limit I guess. But through Elk Island National Park, the speed limit on Highway 16 is 110. There's no reason why not through Banff National Park.
@xlbolt
@xlbolt 2 күн бұрын
I often see the speed limit enforced between Banff and the BC border, but generally people stick at least to 110 as the route really isn’t designed differently than the rest of the drive to Calgary

Spectacular route, road engineering is impressive - though need to keep going, “dual” the remainder. We did it (though heading east direction) a few months before you. Golden is worth a lunch stop - landscape is scarred a bit by the highway passing nearby, but town centre is old / cute and friendly

Most music on KZbin you can put onto videos without major issue (only being blocked in US-sanctioned countries) though it comes at the expense of being able to make money directly off my KZbin content. But my channel can't be monetized anyways so not really much of a loss on my end

@@xlbolt surprised you don’t make some money on it - it’s a useful tool for tourists planning trips to Canada / US, quick way to get a sense of an area (urban build up, countryside, traffic levels…even driving standards or lack of!) even to the point of knowing “which way to go” when actually get there. My wife thought I had a uncanny ability recently to find my way around montreal - little did she know I’d done my homework (your channel, and also a GKorb KZbinr for the walking areas).
@xlbolt
@xlbolt 10 күн бұрын
I've thought about it! But it appears that I don't actually even have the option to apply for monetization on my channel, and it'd be too much work to start anew. I've considered looking into making something like a Patreon in which anything I earn would go directly into the next trip budget, but I'll have to think about it further
@tyfrank3427
@tyfrank3427 5 күн бұрын
@@xlbolt I think using the music you use is great. I don't generally care for the music of most road videographers. It's unfortunate that you can't monetize your channel because of it. In your case, I believe they should share the revenue with the creator of the video and those holding the copyright on the music. I honestly wouldn't have known the likes of Shalamar, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Modjo, and others had it not been for your channel. Some of the songs I was familiar with and some I was not. So, in short, your videos add value and listeners to their music. I did monetize my channel, and have had no problems with it, but I have mostly different content. KZbin does have music you can add to videos without infringement, but your music choices are better.

As a Philadelphian, I try to avoid 76 and 676 (Vine Street Expressway). It is constantly jammed up. In fact, I prefer to take the train into Philly, as just driving in the city makes my anxiety skyrocket. Edit - I also avoid the entirety of Broad St. It's maybe 7 or 8 miles long, but with like 500 traffic lights
@xlbolt

Looking at the traffic map most days, it seems like such a chore to get anywhere along those two routes. There was quite a lot of traffic when I filmed, but it actually seemed pretty good compared to how busy the routes usually are. Hope to return soon, despite the quite stressful driving experience, that beat even out NYC in my opinion

Nice video as always. Never been to that part of the world. The 4 lane is overcapacity and it does need an upgrade. But the 401 through Toronto is mostly 16 lanes and it's just as congested... Hope it's been going on great for you with your footage! Philadelphia doesn't seem to have great transit alternatives in the region, and more specifically not enough transit compared to the huge commuter demand in the region. It’s been almost 6 years since I first travelled this route to my first time in Kelowna! My second time going, it was after a night shift that I just finished at 10:30pm. I drove to Kelowna right after work, im so used to driving there with friends (during the day time) where I’m not driving cuz I tend to sleep over the ride 😂. Seeing the road during the day is still an experience, that I’ve barely seen in 2 different experiences since the only time I’ve driven where I had to see the whole road was at night to Kelowna
