If you're interested in just keeping the rear door rust patch, spray the area down with CorrosionX and scrub it in with a brush. It might take a couple of applications, but the metal will be preserved in that raw state for a long time without paint.

If your valve train takes a dump you can get an adjustable roller rocker kit from Murphy’s motor service.

I daily drive mine until I couldn’t haha. Now it’s in the garage with a rebuilt trans and an engine that’s now quite finished.

The transfer case has two shift levers! How do they work? Is one for high and low? And is the other lever to engage from two wheel drive to four wheel drive? I remember riding in one just like yours back in the mid 70s . I was only 8 years old. But I remember the man using both levers to climb a steep hill.

I had a '67 scout 800 sport top 4x4 with the 266 V8 back in high school in the mid 80's. It was mint, just burned oil and needed an engine rebuild. Been kicking myself for many years for selling it. It was in Oregon....maybe you'll find it someday.

I drove a 1975 Travelall as executive chauffeur for IH Canada. I loved that truck with its dual fuel tanks and deluxe interior. They moved on to a custom built 1977 Stout Traveller which was even better with swivel buckets up front and 3 row seating. Excited to see the new electric Scouts coming soon . . .

Nice stories! The vehicles are worth much more if their history is known (and respected). Your Traveletts for sale are tempting but unfortunately I'm in Sweden. Got some IH D-series pickups but no Travelett. Got Travelall both C- and D- series. Some are on the road, some are not. Although Sweden is Volvo, Saab, Scania, Königsegg etc I ended up as a collector of IH. Think we belong to the same team 👍😀

Don't force the hood down on a truck you're bringing home when the hinges are rusted shut . You'll bend the hood and ruin it

Spent time in the Army as a Scout. Before that I was a Toyota Tech and worked briefly with TRD Off Road on their Baja Trucks. I’ve always wanted an old Scout or one of these little trucks, swap it with a more modern V8, more modern suspension and brake setup. Nothing crazy just little extra power and more daily driver friendly. Sadly after I got mangled in Afghanistan in 2011 my ability to wrench on my own rides has been taken from me. Crawling around under and over my vehicles is just too painful anymore. It’s awesome to see other folks in Montana love these old internationals!

Hi there, I just bought my first truck at 22. An old IH 1300, but it needs to be restored, which Im looking forward to. Is there any place I can look for more info regarding these trucks? Im from South Africa, so it is a right hand drive and used to be a firetruck back in the day. That is about all I could figure out, but would like to know the year model, how many units manufactured etc. Where can I start looking?
