I love my furling genoa. The only problem I had was once when I lowered the main first, the main halyard apparently was a bit loose, and got twisted around the forestay when I furled the genoa. It took quite a while in the hot sun, back at the dock, to get it untwisted without something drastic like taking the mast down. Lesson learned I always furl the genoa before lowering the main. I never want to go through that again. Also, if you still have your jib halyard on the mast, as I do as an insurance line when raising and lowering the mast, it is vital to keep the jib halyard aft of the spreader and side stays so it is clear of the rotating furler. Genoa furlers and halyards don't mix well. (I have a Precision 18, but the principles may be similar with your Compact 23.) Thank you for sharing your experiences. Well done.

I found Mitch's channel last night. I watched all his videos except the last one. (It was past my bedtime.) He has a wonderful personality. So you did good promoting him. People like yourself and Mitch reveal a lot of who you are in your videos, so I almost get the feeling that I know you. I'm sure if I ever met either of you I would not feel like you were strangers. This exposure of one's personality is what really makes sailing KZbinrs successful. Sam Holmes does this. The fact that we know and like Sam is more compelling than even his sailing exploits. And he keeps mixing up his sailing. I am more impressed with him sailing an old worn out Hobie Cat 16 around the Florida coast and eventually to the Bahamas than I was crossing the Atlantic or sailing to Hawaii in small cruisers.
@gordonipock93859 ай бұрын
Charles Bronaugh has had a big influence on my sailing development. His channel focuses on his old Chrysler Buccaneer 18 daysailer/racer. His video of sailing on Yale Lake in Washington State got me hooked on the boat. I found one, bought it, made some minor rigging upgrades and repairs. It's a two or three man boat for racing, but you can solo it in winds under 15 mph. I bought mine a little over a year ago. and I've sailed it about forty times, mostly solo, in all kinds of conditions. (I also have some other sailboats.) It's a great boat to go out ripping around the lake on a windy afternoon and then trailer it back home and then enjoy the comforts of home. But I'm really getting the itch for a bigger boat, something like an O'Day 22 that I can easily trailer to beautiful mountain lakes and spend several days there, or take it down east and do some coastal sailing on North Carolina's bays and sounds.
