CLARIFICATION ON CONCEPT OF 'WEATHER HELM' MENTIONED IN VIDEO: The following is a definition of 'weather helm' and the source from which I obtained it:
"Weather helm means there is pressure trying to turn the boat to windward (i.e., to “weather”). You feel this pressure in the tiller and must pull the tiller to windward against the pressure to keep the boat sailing straight. A lee helm has pressure trying to turn the boat downwind (i.e., to lee or leeward)."

Sometimes, sailing likes to remind us that it's not all about fair winds and following seas. In this episode, our idyllic fall sail faces the threat of potential disaster -- this is a situation that many sailors face and fear! Think about what you might do, should this happen to you, and what you can do to try to prevent this from happening in the first place. As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure -- but, sometimes, too, accidents happen -- and all we can do, then, is to learn from them!
Note that it's always best to sail with the drop/hatchboards IN PLACE in the companionway (not what I did in this video!) for safety!
For those of you already sailing and looking for a great learning tool: I encourage you to take video while you're sailing -- aside from chronicling your own sailing journey, another amazing benefit of watching your footage is you can learn from mistakes you might make! Thus sailing more safely and with greater future enjoyment!
