I agree that the quality of the photo is more important than the quality of the equipment. But the accuracy of color rendering will be better compared using test tables. We all know and see what color was and became after the photo. And without editing in the program, of course. Just a photo from the camera

Do you know where i can get the base plate for gfx 100s?
@tecraven
@tecraven 8 күн бұрын
No idea, but it won't make any difference to the weak baseplate. That would be like putting wallpaper over the top of wallpaper that is already pealing away, the new wallpaper will still come away. The only way to fix the weak baseplate is to remove it and have a local metal worker cut and make a new one from milled aluminium. Which is what Fuji should have done to start with rather than cheating out to save a few pennies to ruin an otherwise pretty decent medium format camera.

In Rankin's promotional video at 1.56 he says I take the F stop down' and what you see is the opposite. Opening the aperture which is what you actually see is 'stopping up' because f stop numbers work in converse value. F stop numbers are a representation of a fraction. You can call me pedantic but at least I'm not sloppy and worse of all wrong. New photographers have got a lot to learn so they deserve to be given correct instruction.

A lot of people seem to have got the wrong end of the stick with this video. It is an amazing camera, so buy one, and it will probably never go wrong, but just be aware that if it does you’ll be in for a world of pain as you have to send it to Sweden and wait an age and with mega expense too. Personally, I prefer to hire stuff like this, or Phase One equipment, rather than wasting money owning it, just bill it to the client.

How to get Analog Lab4 sounds into Ableton Lite 12: Working on a Windows 11 ASUS Laptop - I had my Arturia MKII Keylab on, I then opened up Ableton Lite 12 and did this in Ableton Lite 12 application. Go to OPTIONS --> Settings --> Plug-Ins --> I used VST3 Plug-In System Folders & Custom --> ON for both. I then used the BROWSE button to select C:\Program Files\VstPlugins. This should start the linking process. Once that is complete close that window. On the LEFT side of Ableton, click on Plug-Ins Icon - in the center window - you should see Arturia - click the ARROW to drop down all the different sound modules. Click on the MODULE you want and the multiple sounds within that module will pop up in a new Window. You can scroll through each sound within that window and play it on the KeyLab MKII keyboard. Also, which ever sound you chose, it should be armed (red button) in Ableton Lite 12 column and ready for you to RECORD your music for that specific sound. I suggest you start your own GUIDE and COPY/PASTE this in there with screen shots - which is what I'm doing presently.

I love them. Though a year or so later I wish they were a tad lighter and a tad tighter in fit. My Beyer cans are tighter fitting and lighter so more comfortable. I find the Neumanns almost have a tendency to want to fall forward off your head if you look down at keyboard and nod to the music. But, sonically, superb. I like the idea of trying some of the more expensive Beyer open back cans to see how they pan out.

@@tecraven I didn't find them very heavy, maybe because I've been using Pioneer headphones for many years as a DJ. I'm new to production and currently setting up my home studio, which is very exciting, a dream come true. After a long research i chose Focal Alpha 65 Evo monitors and Cubase DAW. I've also applied for piano lessons to truly learn music :)
@tecraven
@tecraven 15 күн бұрын
@@basicelement Makes sense. I feel they are a tad heavy due to being used to lightweight Beyerdynamic DT770pro for closed back work. Focal make super monitors. Strange choice with Cubase though. I would have gone for industry standard Logic Pro or ProTools, in that order, or Albleton, those are about the only three I'd ever use. If you're going to learn a DAW I'd start as you mean to go on, go Logic, so much better and easier to use, unless you're PC Windows-based of course, then I'd go Ableton. Piano lessons is a great idea as it will give you a much better understanding and you won't be fumbling around in the dark quite so much. I did the 8 grades and a performance degree in classical piano. Get lessons for sure, but also get this book 'It's Never Too Late To Play Piano' by Pam Wedgwood. It's a great choice as you don't need a teacher to explain it to you, all very simply explained, but get a good teacher to go with it. I'd aim to get to grade 3, that will give you a decent basis for your home music production for sure.

@@tecraven I chose Cubase because I discovered that it is the most complete for both mixing and mastering. This way, I will never need to switch from one DAW to another after encountering their limitations. As for Logic Pro, I just don't want to get stuck in the Apple ecosystem in general. I forgot to mention that I bought the Native Instruments S88 MK3 after extensive research. Its hammer-action weighted keys provide the full piano feel I was looking for. It will also collaborate perfectly with my DJ gear and software, which I have been using for years-all from Native Instruments. You seem to have done no actual research into the failure rates of this camera or repair times - I know MrLeica did this for Leica and their repair times are huge depending on the model. As a new owner I would be concerned over the sensor not having a shutter, not for shooting but for protection, changing lenses in some conditions can be hazardous but otherwise everything else is a known risk surely.

I've been a working pro for about 40 years and thought this was a great and objective review. I have never really 'ranked' Rankin, and like others you mentioned, I think he and they were in the right place at the right time. If I'd taken his shot of the Queen, I would have been embarrassed - it's little more than a poor snapshot. I like your point about practice. If you don't understand where you're going wrong in the first place, all you'll do is keep taking bad photos. I'm with you about Karl Taylor, he's great. But as for Jared Polin..........
@tecraven
@tecraven 21 күн бұрын
Thanks, Richard. You're obviously a guy who knows his stuff when it comes to photography, unlike Rankin ;) Yeah, Polin makes dosh from his KZbin channel, about a million dollars per year, less loads of expenses, tax, studio, staff etc, but he's clearing about $150,000 minimum per year with his KZbin photography channel. He's ok, knows what he's talking about regarding the tech geeky stuff and he takes a decent snap, but that's about it. I've seen loads of his shots that would be culled from Capture One if I'd taken them, though I would not make some of his mistakes at the photo-taking stage to be honest. As for paying him to do a 'critique' on photos, waste of time. I've seen a load of his critiques he's done for photographers and to those who don't know he comes across as somebody who knows what he's taking about, but he comes unstuck with the finer higher end details in photography. He's ok snapping basketball players and footballers, but there is no way he'd be good enough to light a Ferrari for a car brochure in a studio - not to the level of Karl Taylor anyway. But, good luck to him, he's making a ton of cash doing what he does on KZbin, but I doubt he's getting agency commissions to do shoots for Nike ;) I certainly wouldn't hire him.

@tecraven , hey, which sub s8 or s10 you would suggest for small appartment (39 sq.m., divided into two zones, so basically 20sq.m.) with occasional parties (probably at friends' where appartment is bigger, one room with 40sq.m.) where I would need more bass? I would take s10 but I read that if you listen s10 at lower volumes then it is not that clear and not that optimal as s8 could be (and this lower sound volume could happen while I would be djing occasionally to myself). Though I like the bass to be chest-thumping and punchy, so I am a bit confused as s10 looks a bit more future-proof option.

Regarding the X1D II with the 'better' Hasselblad lenses, for sure. But the X2D colour science is way off and my Canon R6 MK2 and R5 cameras are way better than the Hassy X2D so not quite sure how Hasselblad screwed up the colours so badly from the X1D to the X2D, something to do with how they tuned up that new sensor, but they got it wrong, big time. I've tested these cameras side-by-side and the Canon is way better and this guy (Sonder Creative) does similar tests: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWGkmaqOZbucfcUsi=-7G5UFv7e2T5XaSs I'd rather own a Canon R5 than a Hasselblad or Fuji (or Phase One) at this moment in time as for me 'personally' none of the medium format cameras fit for various reasons. And, side-by-side you have to pixel peep to see the resolution difference between the Hasselblad X2D and the Canon R5. If Canon made a medium format camera it would wipe the floor with everything else out there. Personally, I don't care what brand it is, I use what gets the job done, which is why I hire a Hasselblad or Phase One, when required, which is rare these days ;)

Now when you’re a pro, you certainly have several bodies - sure it does cost money - hence you should be able to survive. The only point I can’t comment is how far this is fixable. Leica are. Yet another Hasselblad owner who's upset that I've pointed out some flaws. Guys, really, no idea why you're taking it personally. I've been a pro photographer since the 80s. Back then I owned and used Sinar 10x8 and 5x4 cameras, Hasselblad 500cm cameras with about 9 Carl Zeiss lenses, Nikon F3, FM2, FE2, Canon F1 and A1 bodies. Shot and owned all of this for commercial and studio work out of my London studio. Yes, I know what the hell I'm talking about. Why would I just make crap up? I've used the Hasselblad HD5, the X1D and X2D extensively, with several Hasselblad lenses. I've used, extensively, most Fuji medium format cameras and a bunch of their lenses and you can absolutely trust me on this the optics of Fuji lenses are identical to Hasselblad lenses, hell, Fuji even made Hasselblad lenses for them for a good few years in the digital era - do you think Hasselblad make their own lenses? No, they never did. Hasselblad have had three companies make their lenses over the past 20 years and at one point when Hasselblad appointed Fuji to make their lenses Fuji (without Hasselblad even knowing) outsourced some of those to another lens manufacturer too and many Hasselblad lenses are even made in China, yes!!! these days. I've shot focus charts, test charts, controlled lit studio situations and outdoor natural light situations side-by-side with many of these Hasselblad and Fuji cameras and I'm telling you for a fact that there is zero difference in image quality between their lenses. Hasselblad lenses have the edge on build quality, I'll give you that, and they should stand the test of time while Fuji lenses feel a little rattly after a few years of professional in-the-field use. As for the cameras, both Hasselblad and Fuji use the same Sony-made sensor and before you bang on about 'colour science' well, Hasselblad's colour science has taken a quality hit with their latest X2D 100 and (after serious testing) Canon's R5 is way better for colour science than the Hasselblad, by a country mile. So please, don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about because if I didn't I would never have been hired by: BMW, Smirnoff Vodka, Johnson & Johnson, Practical Photography, Arsenal FC, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Jools Holland, The Police, Wheatus and more fashion models than I care to remember. Trust me, I know my shit! I'm not a KZbinr by any stretch, this is not what I do, I do this every now and then when I feel like I have something to say and if people don't like my 'facts & findings' after much investigative journalism and deep research they can always click off the video and go watch some sycophant like Jared Polin or Gerald Undon instead as those guys just spout what the manufactures tell them to and they never say anything scathing about any piece of kit as they know companies won't send them stuff anymore and they actually make a living out of KZbin so you'll only get 'nice' talking over there and if they do have to say something negative they wrap it up in pink fluffy cotton wool. I don't give a crap what manufactures threaten me with, I'll say what the hell I want and if they refuse (and three to date have) to send me kit anymore, no problem as I know plenty of shop managers, studio owners and other folk in the business who will loan me kit. It annoys me when people arrive here and make some crass remark, especially (going by your channel photo) when you shoot on an iPhone and, I suspect, have never shot on either a Hasselblad or a Fuji or actually done any shooting and comparisons for yourself, something I suggest you do rather than going by all the sycophantic crap other KZbinrs spew up on a daily basis. People should be grateful for my brutal honesty and the amount of research and testing that I do.

Yes, devoted DAW guy here. I've been in a few bands over the years playing either bass guitar or drums. Up until recently I had a maxed out Roland TD-27 kit that was heavily upgraded, a nice Tobias Toby Pro bass guitar, a Nord Lead A1 synth, various effect pedals and bits or rack gear, a Gibson Les Paul and PRS guitars, to make a few. But I've just recently sold it all off, why? Because software synths and bass guitar software emulators, drum software plugins have got to the point where they are indistinguishable from the real thing. Many folk have done blind tests with audio engineers and musicians who were unable to tell which was the real instrument and which was a software plugin. For me I work entirely in the box now and the only hardware I have is the Focusrite Clarett 9Pre USB audio interface, two microphones and three pairs of headphones, one open back for mixing/mastering and two identical pairs for me and a vocalist to wear when recording. All my hardware and instruments I sold as no point in it anymore. Instruments such as bass guitars and drum kits and synths are only of use to folk who play in bands and need them on stage. So, definitely no there is no hardware that I prefer over software, not these days.

Even as a bass player myself, I have used VSTs patches on a few tunes and then weeks later after letting it bake, tend to go back and use the real thing, BUT I see it as a great demoing/songwriting tool or for someone who does not have access to a bassist.

Definitely a great tool for sure. Back in the 80s, and even today, bands used to support the bass notes by having a synth bass play the same notes underneath for many songs to add weight etc. This is something I do with my own music compositions, especially with drums, I usually have two kick drums and two snares firing off together. Def Leopard used to have about 6 snares drum sounds triggering altogether hence that stadium heavy-as-fuck snare drum sound that he got.

@tecraven Ohhh man tell me about it!!! Omg I grew up in the time of Def Leppard and remembered those techniques of bass supported by synth. That puts a smile on my face. Man I sure miss the 80s and it's music, to me that was the golden era and my music frame of reference. WOW 6 snares 😂 I'm still wrapping my head around proper home recording, because my early work was atrocious looking back at it now, but until recently figured out the layering approach especially with bass, snares and kicks. As they say we all have to start somewhere. For the life of me I did not understand how they were getting those sounds. Now I have a few folders of samples for snares, toms and kicks. I really like your no non sense channel. Hopefully more content will be coming soon as time permits.

@@PurpleMusicProductions Yeah, I watched a cool video showing how Def Leppard got that snare sound, insane how many snare drums were electronically layered up. Mark Ronson is famous for taking a break beat loop and then putting thicker kicks and snares on top to give the drums power and depth. Addictive Drums 2 is awesome, especially the recent 2.5 version that's had an overhaul to the interface. Yes, I have a few videos coming up regarding audio stuff.

Thanks, man. I composed that a few years back. Recorded with Nord Lead A1 synth, Addictive Drums, me playing bass. It's part of a complete song that I still have to lay vocals down on.

if you have a very small box room the S8, otherwise the 10-inch is more fun and you'll 'feel' it more.

1TB of internal storage is amazing, I can’t see the need for two additional slots being needed at all. One additional slot is more than enough, you’d struggle to fill the 1Tb slot in a days shoot as it is. By the way …. The internal drive is on a connector, not soldered to the board. If it needs to be replaced, it’ll simply be a case of slotting a new one in. As an X2D user, I’m very comfortable with the DJI association, they are an impressive company. TBH, I’m glad that a small company like HB are backed up by DJI. They are pushing the boundaries of so many areas of technology. I can only see positive things for HB going forward.

for the Fuji camera just use a bracket that already has the Arca profile inserted so you don't have to continuously tighten the screw
@tecraven
@tecraven Ай бұрын
This doesn’t fix the problem. Because the bracket is still attached to the weak base plate, it’s not about continuously tightening the screw. Even with the bracket attached if the can takes a serious knock the bracket still breaks the base plate on the Fuji.

I prefer the Fujifilm system drops quickly in price and is much more accessible for a normal user because both cameras and lenses are easily found on the second-hand market in the end the sensor is identical only the colorimetry changes which is one thing managed via software the real advantage of the Hasselblad system are the lenses with central shutter which I don't understand why doesn't Fujifilm want to make it at least for portraits so I can use flash sync at all times
@tecraven
@tecraven Ай бұрын
To be honest I'm not a fan of either Hasselblad or Fuji. Hasselblad due to all the points I mention in this video, but Fuji because, new, it is about the same price, although the lenses are much cheaper, but the build quality of the Fuji body and lenses is just not as good as the Hasselblad. Mate of mine has the Fuji and the lenses feel a bit 'rattly' and loose now, like things inside need to be tightened up again. Don't like the lack of leaf shutter in the lenses, this restricts flash synch meaning you have to use HSS and lose loads of power. Oh the base-plates break, did I mention that ;) Colour difference does not bother me, in fact I prefer the colours of Fuji. Hasselblad always had a tad of a spike in the green channel that I always had to nudge towards red to get rid of it. On the X2D the colour science is not that good. The Canon R5 is way better for colour over the Hasselblad, by a country mile.

How do presonus 8sub do against your krk 8 . It think the presonus sub goes lower
@tecraven
@tecraven 2 ай бұрын
I've had/owned them both. I used the Presonus on my Nord Lead A1 synth, goes pretty low. KRK sounded about the same, but more controlled and not quite as flabby, if that makes sense. I've since upgraded to the KRK 10-inch S10.4 and that is deep, but tight and controlled.
