Kudos to you for bringing this sort of information to our attention. You seem to have done the groundwork for the repair pitfall. Leica are not much better in practice for authentic Leica repair (invoice proof of Leica repair) M/Q cameras I've owned and repaired. I own a X1D II Hasselblad, a dream to edit the images, quality.............IMHO better than Leica.

Yes, because although on paper there isn’t much difference, the subwoofer is tuned differently and it has deeper bass with more punch that you can feel, something that you cannot feel with the monitors.

Well, it only really has one sound and it is interesting for about 10 minutes, but I get better results using VST bass synths that are infinitely changeable if you change your mind about the sound in the future because VST synths take their feed off midi notes.

You video title is click bait. Unfortunately, medium format cameras are not mainstream consumer products. Even though they are very expensive, one cannot assume the support infrastructure would be the same as the full frame and smaller sensor cameras. If you by a luxury class vehicle and need repair, most likely the repair shop for such a vehicle won't be convenient and getting parts from the manufacturer will take a very long time. Lastly if one was to buy an X2D, you would make sure you acquired the compatible software tools to properly handle the files and not expect what you have will work.

Yes, there are the usual tonal differences, like what you'd get between two different makes/models of actual bass guitar, but the sonic performance is 100 percent realistic to the point that I cannot tell which is which on a blind test and I did this video really quick. I could have spent much more time tweaking the midi notes in post-production and doing other post-production audio tweaks etc.

Can’t say I’ve ever suffered a breakdown or noticed any quality control issues with anything electronic, or mechanical I’ve bought that is made in China or Taiwan. Yet. I must be lucky. I’ve had cause to order DJI spares. The quality of service and turnaround times have been exceptional. I’ve only had cause to return one camera for repair. That was a Ricoh GRDIV. Again no complaints. I believe it went to Germany. That’s one of about 20 digital cameras I’ve owned from various manufacturers. The thing is , it’s usually only the negatives about tech issues that gain traction on the internet. I would say most consumers are extremely happy with their purchases. I’ve only been disappointed with a couple of cameras I’ve owned. And to be honest they were pretty minor annoyances.

I was so impressed with that equipment… I loved that camera gear. I have watched a few reviews on this camera and yes You are correct…. There was never any mention of the potential disaster that could happen with a malfunction. At least with apple (while under warranty) You call the warranty center… they send a box You get the box the next day all addressed to the repair center… You send it, the product arrives at the repair center the next day. The gear is repaired the next day and shipped back… You have a total of 3-4 days turn around.

@@kevindowd7769 Yup, I only ever had an issue with a Canon camera once, I had to get it re-calibrated as it was underexposing by a stop, even though Canon said it was in there tolerances. I got the service engineer at Canon in England to re-calibrate it to over-expose by a stop to compensate. I drove it down there (only 70 minutes drive from me) and they did it while I waited.

I almost completely agree with your point. I am a professional photographer living in Japan, and the support system for HASSELBLAD here is also terrible. If there’s a problem with the system, the steps you mentioned are indeed necessary, even though both the lens and the sensor are made in Japan. I’ve been using HASSELBLAD for work since the 500CM era, but as I am now retired, I enjoy photography as a hobby. That’s why I was able to buy the X2D. If it were equipment for professional use, I would never have purchased it. It’s rare to find a manufacturer that makes me feel this insecure about their support. At the very least, that’s never the case with Canon or Nikon here in Japan.

Please help on how to make it work with the Roland TD-27KV2 ... the cymbals don't work... they just sound choked.,, I've tried using different presets, I've tried mapping them myself... and they just don't ring out
@tecraven
@tecraven 9 күн бұрын
After clicking the three lines at the top/right of AD2 window and clicking ‘Map Window…’ on the left under MAP PRESET I chose Roland TD27, but the main thing you have to do is in the centre of the MAP WINDOW you have to teach AD2 what to do so you click on CYM 1 for example, then click the Learn button next to Cymbal 1 and then hit the cymbal on the Roland, then do the same for Choke. Then do the same for the other cymbals and then for the Hi-Hat and under HH there are lots of options for open, closed, bell, foot close etc. You only have to do this once and it is easy. But, make sure you then save it as a preset and give it a name and you have to click save or it won't remember the settings. For your info, I just sold my TD-27 as I just programme directly in AD2 now, more accurate than my drumming and I don't have to tidy up the odd mistimed note here and there. I just add 'human feel' at the end to make sound good.

Hasselblad's 16-bit output speaks for itself. The color fidelity on Hasselblad is not marginally but substantially superior, with a dynamic range that Canon doesn't come close to touching. Hasselblad's color science is industry-recognized for its excellence. Serious photographers need to consider this difference critically.
@tecraven
@tecraven 12 күн бұрын
Sorry, Ronnie, but you're five years out of touch. Sure, 'once' Hasselblad had superb colour science, but now Canon have overtaken them, big time and it's not just me that's noticing this in the images. In this video the skin tones are better and more accurate on the Canon and so are the colours, while the Hasselblad is messing everything up. This guy knows his stuff too, just watch this video for further proof: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWGkmaqOZbucfcUsi=OCh-Vf-IEeP-MZbc - people need to stop banning on about Hasselblad colour science as it is not what it was, has gone backwards, they hit a brick wall, and Canon have steamed right past them. Just do some side-by-side tests for yourself rather than repeating the same old stuff that people say just because other people say it. 16-bit output might speak for itself, but the colour science in Hasselblad cameras has falling behind and, frankly, just isn't that accurate anymore. Canon are way ahead and so are Phase One.

Thank you for your video and the honest review. You've got me thinking, as I wanted to get myself an X2D at the end of this year, early next year. I was impressed by the countless reviews that portray the Hasselblad as the ultimate superior camera. I shoot with a Nikon D850 and have never had to think or even worry about technical faults as it just sits there like a hammer and when I want to use it, it just works as it should for years. I assumed that quality and service shouldn't be an issue at all with a camera that costs almost 4 times as much. Maybe Hasselblad should think about a lifetime or at least 10 year warranty. My first attempt to switch to the mirrorless world in early 2024 with a Fuji X system went completely wrong. I received a defective camera and only got it back after 3 months of poorly executed repairs. Three months after the purchase I took my first photos with unnatural and unimpressive colors. I face the same problem from Switzerland if I had to send defective goods to the EU for repair. I think that older technologies that have matured over decades are still superior in terms of quality. Don't change a running system!

I havn't heard the DT990 Pro or Pro X, but I imagine they are still in the ballpark of the DT770. I used to own the DT1990 pro and compared to the DT770 pro they only had a 'trifle' more clarity in the triple, that's about it. But the Neumann NDH 30 are way smoother for mixing and mastering and I prefer that less harsh sound of the Neumann's. But, the NDH 30 are open back so no good for vocalists.

Doubtful. The new camera design would have to target two niches equally well: DMF stills & cine. And beat the competition (esp Fuji) on price:performance. New lens range development would be loss making, so adapters (or mounts if licences) for existing lenses by Fuji, Phase One, Hasselblad, Leica. Sony make most DMF sensors - even they did not venture into a full system!

In Australia we have automatic consumer guarantees that come with every purchase for products/services. These guarantees are legislated by the government. I'm not sure to what extent the UK has similar laws. In Australia these guarantees are automatic and cannot be taken away or changed by the seller/manufacturer in any way. On top of these guarantees, manufacturers can give voluntary warranties. Manufacturers do not have to give voluntary warranties. They choose to do this. Any claims made by manufacturers via their voluntary warranty must be honoured, on top of the automatic consumer guarantees that come with every contract of sale. Sadly, these voluntary warranties attempt to cover up the consumer guarantees in the sense that they try to limit the consumer guarantees, which is something that they are not supposed to do by law. Consumer law looks at how long a reasonable consumer would expect a particular product to last. This depends on its nature, quality, price and expected longevity, as well as any claims that the manufacturer makes about the product. In Hasselblad's case, these claims are significant, given the premium quality championed by them. The Hasselblad is top tier, and a reasonable consumer would expect it to last many years. Thus, the 12 month voluntary warranty that is given by Hasselblad is clearly inadequate from a consumer guarantee point of view. This is why I said that manufacturer warranties usually attempt to limit the consumer guarantees. Importantly, this is not something particular to Hasselblad - not at all. This is something that is particular to capitalism and human nature. At the end of the day, you need to have a discussion with a seller in order to get your guarantee rights. When I say that guarantees are automatic, this means that they are legislated by the government. However, sellers do not automatically apply them. You need to talk to the seller to make any claims against your consumer guarantees. If there is disagreement (and there often is, because sellers often like to pretend that the voluntary warranty is the be all and end all, when it actually is not). In cases where there are disagreements, you may take the matter to your government tribunal, which is like an informal court. Where consumer guarantees have not been met, this breaks the contract of sale, and you are entitled to a replacement, repair or refund. Sadly, the fact that manufacturers are allowed to give voluntary warranties (which usually try to limit the consumer guarantees) actually allows customers to be confused about their understanding of the consumer guarantees. Bizarrely, most consumers (and many sales staff at stores) don't have a full appreciation of the consumer guarantees. Many people think that the manufacturer voluntary warranty is the only warranty they have. It is up to the consumer to know their rights.

In the UK most electrical product come with a manufacturers 1-year guarantee, but UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 says electrical goods should have a minimum life expectancy of 3 years, thus a 3 year guarantee, which is enforced by UK government law. I remember purchasing a LaCie USB hard drive from the Apple Store in Cambridge, UK and after two years it packed up. I took it back to the Apple Store and they said it only has a 1-year guarantee, then I started to push the UK Consumer Rights act and when I started to raise my voice (UK store managers don't like that as other customers can hear) they backed down and gave me a replacement there and then. Again, in the UK the masses don't know about the Consumer Rights act and this 3-year guarantee and it always makes me laugh when people say to be electrical goods (not Hasselblad of course) from UK department store, John Lewis, as they give a 3-year guarantee on their products, while PC World charge for this. This is crap, John Lewis are just giving what UK law states and they would not have to pay for any repairs, they just send it back to the manufacture and, under UK law, they have to fix it or replace it under guarantee within 3 years anyway, while PCWord/Currys rip their customers off by charging for an extended 3-year warrantee and if the customer takes anything back within 3 years, Curry's/PCWorld don't have to pay a penny, they send it back to the manufacturer, who, again, under UK law, repairs it or replaces it for free so Currys/PCWord have a cash-cow rip off going on with their bullshit extended guarantees. Regarding Hasselblad, yes, it falls under this, but in the UK we still have to pay £150 plus vat due to not being a member of the EU and this is not covered under guarantee so that is one expense, plus the delay of 3 to 6 weeks with no camera as it goes back to Sweden for repair.7

When Nikon introduced the Z mount Matt Irwin pointed out that the throat size is big enough to accommodate a "medium format" sensor. Medium format in quotes because cameras like the Fujifilm GFX 100 are still only about 48 x 36 mm, whereas a medium format film camera is 60 mm on one side, with a number different measurements for t'other. 60 x 45, 60 x 60, 60 x 90, and so on. However, as someone (or was it you?) pointed out the RED acquisition is probably keeping Nikon pretty busy at the moment, and they, together with the other manufacturers, would have to have a good hard think about the potential market.

I get what you are saying, but I didn’t mention the Pentax 645Z as nobody buys into that Pentax system. I know a few guys that work at a few different photographic stores (UK admittedly) and they say the just don’t sell, everybody goes Fuji or Hasselblad hence my not putting Pentax into the equation. I loved the Pentax 645 film camera from 1986, but this modern digital version is just not selling for them. I’m surprised the Pentax system is still being advertised to be honest, unless they just have stock that they need to get shot of, but that stock is not going because nobody buys their cameras anymore. There will almost certainly come a point when the Pentax 645 drops off the map - I suspect. Regarding Leica, I didn’t mention those because they are not what I would call medium format, they are more half way between full frame and even the smallest medium format Hasselblad/Fuji sensors and a mile away from the Phase One iQ4 back. Yes, the Leica S3 is a 64 MP 30 x 45mm sensor with a 3:2 aspect ratio and although on a par with the Fuji/Hasselblad regarding sensor size, thus medium format, Leica are a strange bunch. The S3 cost £16,500 body only and the S lenses are around £4,500 each. Given the body is double that of a Hasselblad X2D and Fuji GFX 100 II and the Leica lenses are a bit more than Hasselblad lenses and 30 to 40 percent more than the Fuji offerings I don’t see Leica as been in the medium format arena to be honest. Leica have a few very, very, very niche puddle of customers, doctors, enthusiastic lawyers etc that need to write off tens of thousands of pounds who buy a Leica S3, or any other Leica for that matter. Leica seem to do everything they possibly can to keep sales and customers to a niche minimum - it’s what they do best. For this video I'm talking about the main players, Fuji, Hasselblad and Phase One, in that order in terms of sales and popularity.

interesting topic. my take its driven by commercial potential, the revenue that it may bring in versus damaging existing revenue stream, they dont want to compete with their own camera dept. best take is to look at Nikon's medium format foray, if any. last time i heard, there was patent filed Nikon on medium format lens or something, that would be a first indication if there are any serious effort going that direction. when Nikon goes medium format, i bet you that Canon wont be far off when that happen, either acquire an existing or former medium format company OR joint venture with medium format company like PENTAX as a starter before launching off. just my 2 cents

I'm about one year into my GFX journey and I love the two GFX cameras. I have. I have the GFX 50 S mark 2 which is a slower camera but I still really enjoy using it and it's very capable. I also have the new GFX100S ii and I've only got one word to describe it phenomenal it is really good. It is close to full frame in terms of auto focus and at seven frames a second it's actually perfect for what I need. I can actually shoot some sport with it if I need to, but I'm really a landscape and portrait shooter so it's fantastic. I can't imagine cannons first digital medium format camera being much chopped. If you don't put an L bracket on the bottom of your medium format camera I'm very sorry I don't know your name but you are an idiot and you're not a photographer. Anyone that owns medium format camera put an L bracket on there. You are a complete fool if you don't!! I'm very very sorry, but you've obviously got an anti-GFX slam with this because the GFX cameras are amazing. I don't know if you actually used it for very long but attaching it to a tripod like you did shows a complete lack of intelligence .... I couldn't think of anything more dumb that I've seen a photographer do that then do what you did.... But I'm still laughing. I nearly choked on my coffee. Everyone puts an L bracket on their medium format camera.

The cinema cameras aren’t niche since they don’t need a new line of lenses / lens mount… whereas a MF camera would. Annoyingly, Canon’s cameras have really pivoted towards hybrid/video… if they cared about high end stills they’d first deliver a 60mpix competitor to the Sony a7rv/Leica SL3. Also Canon have removed the pixel shift high res mode from the R5ii and replaced it with software upressing too - perplexing! There so much more Canon could do in Full Frame to deliver a more stills centric studio/landscape camera. With 35mm format lenses 1 to 2 stops faster than the fastest MF lenses from Fuji and Hasselblad, I’m just not convinced that you need the extra sensor dimensions for that low depth of field ‘medium format look’. I think the reason Fuji and Hasselblad went ‘Medium Format’ (really it’s not that large a sensor) is more about marketing. Hasselblad/DJI has always been in that space… and if Fuji had entered 35mm full frame they’d have killed their APSc line.
