The reason we would put new OHL structures like that is so we can then transfer old equipment from the existing masts over to the new ones and then cut down the old one to build the platforms. The RRV (Road Rail Vehicles) would on and off track at the RRAP, (Road Rail Access point) The Pulleys are UK1 spec balance weights that have fall arrest built in, so if the ohl cables break, the weights don’t fall to the ground like the MK1 and MK3 equipment does

There was an update from the train company saying that they were in talks last year with government and universal about increasing the number of trains. They also said that they will be happy to take part in the second public consultations early this year.

I cannot WAIT for the day this gets approved and this channel is going to catapult into the stratosphere where it belongs! Hope Xmas was good and Happy New Year!

I imagine theyre in extensive talks with the gov about tax breaks etc because they'd be bringing a hell of a lot of money into the economy. But who knows how long that would potentially take

Train is a Siemens class 700. This replaced the older fleet of Cl 319 and 377 trains. Stored at Bedford and Cricklewood, maintained principally at Three Bridges with a depot also at Ferme park near Hornsey on the King Cross side. Currently introducing the concept of Automatic Train Operation between Kentish Town and Blackfriars/London Bridge. Currently running 8 and 12 car units.

Anyone know if universal will ban the drone when construction gets underway? I suppose you can always use the zoom function and fly near by?

It's mulcher attachment on an excavator. Chops pretty much anything it meets into little pieces. The sound is the heavy blades spinning up again after being slowed by whatever gets in it's way.

With Labours ambition to build 1.5 million new houses i have a feeling this land will be used to build houses. Britain is not a very positive country at the moment and won't be for another 4.5 years. With the current theme parks having a very bad year i think Universal might be having second thoughts.

The yellow digger nearest the entrance looked to be buried up to its tracks!

Those "pipes" are in fact piles for the new OLE and they'll be installed near where the up slow track will be slewed to, including the future London-bound platform. The workers probably installed them, plus the masts (located near the yellow RRVs) that weekend. Or at least tried to, no thanks to bloomin' Darragh. The big-arse closure in late December is south of Harpenden only, so trains will continue running north thereof outside of 25/26 Dec; incidentally Network Rail did consider extending it to Bedford (fewer separate line possessions = lower cost) but I think they figured works would have to start earlier than they eventually did. The up slow track might be slewed during the next closure through Wixams on 22/23 February 2025. Electric EMR trains (Class 360) usually run in pairs, hence why that one looked smaller than you were expecting. [N.B.1. Earthworks have been properly underway for two months or so, regardless of Wootton turning the "first" sod last Thursday. Construction-wise, that's official enough for me.] [N.B.2. If it gets any wetter then Jack Sparrow will sail by for his jar of dirt (I know, "wrong" film distributor). Plenty of it to spare!]

merlin will be doomed when universal opens. i worked for merlin and was a not good company to work for, i too worked for the tussauds company before it went to merlin who were a lot of a better company to work for. good thing abouts tussauds were they only had workers work 9 hours a day as had a hours break , 2% bonus of the wage you worked at the end of the season. it was just a better company. blackpool pleasure beach where i also worked was a fab company too. only grime i had were the long hours at the time but was a fab wage best in blackpool plus got a bonus to at the end of the season like tussauds did. plus blackpool pleasure beach has a club for staff on the weekend and a bar to use after one finished their shift. it was awesome and dirt cheap. i was also working on the rides at clacton pier.
