I have 1200 plus items been listing 5-10 a day and I feel like 2022 is back with the algorithm. 1 sale from Friday to Sunday sent aggressive offers . 5 star rating same day ship time .. oh and I pay for promoted listings . These new buyer fees are absurd. I’ve sold as well as bought. I am no longer going to buy anything unless the price is really inexpensive and shipping is free. I don’t see this platform lasting long term. It’s a great time for a competitor platform to emerge.

I haven’t used Mercari in June/ July and now I’m back and shocked with all the CRAZY $25 fees on top of shipping on a $100 item, what’s going on? Please explain, the buyers will not be buying anything 😢

Mercari is one of the worst 👎🏾 I completely STOPPED selling or buying on their platform ❌ They simply withdrew additional “shipping fees” from my account balance…but NEVER told me which package or proof of the additional charge. They just stated that it was for a past sale. The last straw with them was when I sold a set of legos. The box was slightly crushed…which I disclosed and showed in pictures on Mercari…However, the legos inside were new, sealed and unused. Immediately, upon receipt…the buyer disputed the sale as a damaged item return and provided pictures of the damaged box…which appeared to be crushed even more. The buyer NEVER said a word about missing Legos or an opened package. When the package was returned, the item was opened & 90% of the legos were gone! I have disputed & provided several pictures and Mercari keeps denying my dispute, denying my shipping protection and telling me to resell the item 😑😳 Oh, ok Mercari! I’m supposed to relist a package that has now been pilfered. It was my item and now everyone in the transaction has benefited from the sale…but me…and I now have an item that is basically garbage 👎🏾 I have emptied my Mercari account and will no longer sell, buy or recommend that platform. They support buyer fraud 😤

I’m a BUYER on Mercari but mostly on eBay. Today I purchased on Mercari for an item that sold out on eBay. Anyway, all those fees on Mercari is a turn off. I will always choose to shop on eBay first 🤷‍♀️

That’s nothing. I have had many sold items on eBay returned and the item was not what i shipped. eBay doesn’t care. I got ripped offf…….

As a seller and a buyer what they did was really bad. I know a lot of sellers were complaining about how much they were taking from us in seller's fees but now they're taking the even more from the buyers a lot more. The only thing you used to have to pay as a buyer was either a shipping fee is the seller is charging shipping or some tax. Now you have to pay four different fees as a buyer which I find ridiculous. This company is making a ton of money off of these transactions. Someone buys something for $20 by the time you check out either close to $40 or over $50 depending on the item.

I bought from Mercari all the time. Sung their praises to everyone I knew. When this happened, I dumped the app like a hot potato. Im really sad about it, because it was my favorite place to buy from private sellers.

I am a seller 2 dollar fee to get my money. fine I write that off end of year. sales are slow with passing that fee to the buyer as a service fee. all they needed to do cut the sellers fee in half. charging the buyer is like taking candy from a baby. i take my money end of the week.

Goodwillfinds is a ripoff. Overcharged on shipping cost. Dont buy nothing from them.

January and February were really good for me on Mercari. March slowed before the update and since the update it's just been ok. I wasn't a fan of shifting the fees to the buyers but it is what it is. eBay isn't my favorite. I've sold plenty of stuff there but the listing process is just horrible. In my opinion as a seller Mercari is the superior platform for a few reasons. Speed of listing - Mercari beats eBay hands down. Time to complete the transaction - 3 days for the buyer to decide if they're keeping the item vs 30 on ebay. 30 days is just ridiculous. After 3 days you get auto rated and the transaction is closed, you get paid. Some people can't wait the 3 days to get paid. If that's you, you have other problems. I guess I sell stuff that is both less likely to get returned and less likely to have buyers try to scam you. I've had plenty of good interactions with buyers via chat. I may begin to cross list on ebay again but I need to work on my listing process work flow. It's just been very cumbersome for me.

I got free $10 from mercari and when I go to checkout an item, all the fees make it into the Listed price. Sooo dumb

Just need to sell some things to declutter and pay off a bill. Many years ago, I listed something on eBay that didn't sell. I think I still had to pay a listing fee. I just had my first sale since the new changes which was $190. The buyer actually paid 5% and not the 10% service fee. Yes they paid shipping, processing, and tax too. I wonder if there is more of a tiered fee. Something to look into. For me, I would rather ship myself as Mercari shipping is not the 25% discount they claim. The issue is you then have to list as Free shipping enflating your selling price to cover it. Also, their so called "shipping protection" is a joke as it only covers up to $200. I had a $765 PC listed, and when I saw that I pulled the listing for now. If I ship myself, I can ad the proper insurance.

I've already had SEVERAL potential customers complain about the buyer fees since the switch. One potential customer sent a copy of all the buyer fees now and I feel that the buyer fees are making me lose money. Something else I find to be immoral and underhanded, Mercari DELETED said messages from our chat!! I need a better merchant platform.

I am waiting for my last sale to go through and I am deleting the Macari app. People don't want to pay all that is involved and want only low ball prices . I just sold my last item from an offer..A little more than half of what I had it orginally had it priced. I let it go only so I could get off the site.

Very low price items wont be affected that much its the high price items and I usually buy high priced items. Unless the total.comes out cheaper than other platforms its a no brainer I wont buy on Mericari, like why would I want to pay more?

I have a question or 2 concerning the ghost listing. So, are you saying you know you had that CD, and it had already sold sometime back,but it was still showing in your active listings? If so, of course you couldn’t find it, because you had sold it previously. I ask this to see if I understand, because I don’t know if this applies to your situation, but I have noticed that when I sell something, the listing does not disappear from my active listing section. It does say you sold this item on such and such a date, but it’s still showing in my listings. They previously when it sold, disappeared from my active listings page. I hope this makes sense. I’ve wondered if a potential buyer see a sold listing showing under active also.

Have you guys tried contacting EBay via the EBay for Business page on Facebook re your defect? I’ve heard over and over again that the phone reps are notoriously misinformed and you should always contact them online and not call. Just thought it might be worth a try because that was definitely not your fault.
