I look at things positive even though you feel it's taking longer it's making the listing better and you're selling. It's OK that it takes a long time but it's being done right and you won't have to worry about it.

Thank you for sharing this. I do inventory by the month, I store it by the month and when it's been there a year I "audit" it. Each month i audit the previous years stuff., usually a tub or two. That's how I handle both posh and ebay inventory. Not all get cross posted. As far as ebay goes. I end all listings before they expire and I go thru them. So I'm looking into remaining inventory on Ebay every month this way. It helps get all of these issues. I also have about 1k listings. Oh.. and I use Vendoo to keep track of my inventory as well.

We do the by the month inventory as well. But we were doing it directly on ebay rather than physically touching the items. This process allowed us to touch each piece which I think was important!

I deleted all my items on eBay the end of last year. I have not listed any since then because I am going over everything in my inventory and re-organizing that. I also deleted everything on Mercari. Starting fresh. only selling on Poshmark while I go through all my inventory. Sales are good and I am getting prices I ask for for the most part.

@@spendingunder30 I agree. I sell mostly mall brands so those are pretty accessible in price point. Many people prefer to shop online now so that's an advantage, but you do get a lot of returns for fit when you sell clothing.

I've gone a MONTH without an eBay sale. I'm bringing a lot of my items to local consignment stores this spring through next fall & only going to list items that are going to give me a bit more money-to-time ratio. I have about 700 or so items on Posh & now under 260 on eBay so I still have a lot to crosspost as well. I did have over 500 items on eBay but they kept selling on Poshmark & then Mercari & then eBay last, so crazy!

You can do sell similar from your own listings. When I’m well, I end 20 listings a day, check each listing for accuracy and update the shipping using sell similar. Also, keep in mind that inflation is eating into everyone’s discretionary spending which means they are focusing on needs versus wants to stretch their money.

@@spendingunder30 I don’t use other people’s listings unless it’s for keywords for titles and a general idea what the description should be. Oftentimes, I find the other person didn’t actually do much research and just did a general description rather than detailed like I do. I don’t like having to answer questions that can be easily answered by simply having the information in the description to start with.

Great experiment! To answer some of your questions: I don't list the wash on jeans unless it's the specific name from the brand. As far as comps, I stopped looking at comps on Posh because I got frustrated having to constantly remove my sizing for every single search, so I moved to eBay comps only and it's worked so much better - for most things I list at the same price between both platforms unless I know it will sell better on Posh and then I just increase the price by $5-7.
@spendingunder30

Thats a great method! Thank you for sharing that. Definitely seems easier than comping on each platform.

I do the same things with price out of convenience and I think it hurts me on other platforms too. I do send the same offers to watchers as I do to lockers, but I get way less sales from it. I cheat with washes a lot if I’m in between and will say “a darker medium wash” or a “lighter medium wash.” I appreciate the honesty with this process. I’m currently checking all of my inventory as well, to reorganize, check listings, make sure everything is listed and also make sure I don’t have sold listings still listed. I’ve gotten a fraction of the way through my 1400+ inventory. It takes forrrrever. I’ve thought about doing the delete route before, but I’m glad I haven’t because I think it would never get relisted lol.

When doing clothes, don’t stack them in the bins. Fold them so that they will ‘stand up’ and store them like files in a file drawer. When clothing is stacked, you run the chance of over looking an item while searching for it. The caveat is with thin items: they will come unfolded and slither to the bottom of the bin.

I don't fill in the "wash" category on ebay. It's too time consuming to add all the details that ebay wants. I think they should get rid of some of the details like "Season" . Can you explain why you deleted everything instead of editing the items? Also on Posh when you look up comps is there a way to see when it sold. I like comps on EBay because it tells you when it sold.
@spendingunder30
@spendingunder30 Жыл бұрын
Two main reasons we deleted it all: 1) We wanted to touch each item and review listing accuracy. Weve been doing this for many years and we wanted to make sure we had everything that was listed still in inventory and that we listed it accurately. 2) Trying to jumpstart our store. End and sell similar has been proven to help sales so we figured a total refresh would as well. For posh yes you can see solds the same as ebay just filter to sold on any of your searches.

Agree that for clothing (in general) the eBay customer expects at least $10 off of Poshmark pricing. Unless it is something unique. Sometimes I hesitate to post certain things. Also, I've had some complaints that the shipping is too high :( If it is over a pound, it is not going to be as cheap as Poshmark. I have the calculated shipping depending on location.

yea ebay isnt like Mercari and other places as in, you dont wanna just list any and everything. You can do really good on ebay IF you post truly wanted stuff. In my experience, i would funnel my "junk" listings onto ebay slowly. Be honest with yourself about something thats just not selling and not looking like its going to. Either just delete it and dont list it again for a good while or first try lowering the price even lower than what you really want out of it and if its a listing that feels like you cant give it away even if you think its an item that can sell, delete that thing, maybe try it again in a few months or something.
