What head gaskets are you using to run MK4 heads on the gen 6 block?
@Scubasteve222 күн бұрын
Thx for sharing Nick! We just dynoed a 377 with very similar cam and a tick less compression. Has afr 195 street heads , that i touched up a hair, made 535 and 500 ft lbs...Ours did have a vic jr cuz Chase my son wants to put Fitech FI on it. Thanks

Sweet thanks for the vid. Interesting results. I watched Eric's flow test video also and it looks like your pocket port work did more to the engine then the flow test showed. 229cfm vs 249cfm on the heads only resulted in about 10hp. BTW I just finished a very similar build but using the similar size Voodoo cam but ground on a wider LSA for a supercharger. Dart pro 1 aluminum heads fully ported. It's good to see I'll probably make more then my original estimate of 415HP without the supercharger.

Thanks for your reply. I did check out your video of the Sbc 406 and the Specs, I noticed your valve Lift is .516/.520 my Comp Cam is .582/.591 will this effect the performance of the Brodix Ik200 Cylinder Heads or the Hp @ the flywhee I apologize for the questions, but this is my first build trying to avoid having to change the cam I rather do it now

@@dzperformance7360IDK if you're familiar with it,but the Kenda Drive In theater is in Marshall not far from the Daisy Queen. It's one of the last,if not the last, drive-in theaters in the state. Solid performance. When I saw 461s on a 400 I thought they would choke it out and not have enough flow to make much more than 425hp or so. Your port work definitely paid dividends on this mill. 1200rpm peak to peak is almost perfect for a street strip application and still at a low enough RPM to have decently good street manners. I dig it.
@dzperformance736014 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching thanks for chiming in with a comment. Yeah the overall performance is not totally disappointing but I built this exact combination with brodix heads before and it did 525 horse I was hoping for just a little more

@@dzperformance7360 I bet an RPM air gap and a little more carb would push the RPM up just a little, might just tickle that 500hp number. After looking at your channel a bit, I'm guessing you know a good bit (alot a bit) more about building motors than I do, I know just enough to say dumb things. haha Anyway, seeing that you dyno test in Enid I assume you must not be too far from there. If you are interested I'd be interested in talking to you about a motor build for a car I'm trying to get together for drag n drive events. Maybe do some collaboration videos. I'm out of Guthrie. Anyway, just a thought. I like to support other youtubers and currently looking for an engine builder to try and work with.

Love your channel thanks for the awesome videos. I'm currently duplicating this exact build for a 1 ton square body. My question is what head gasket did you use with the #781 heads? I was told there are water passage differences on the newer roller block.
@dzperformance736019 күн бұрын
That is true there is water passages between the cylinders at the bottom of the cylinder block ,it's possible to drill those out on any old head gasket but if you get a performance marine gasket it will have the holes and allow coolant to pass from the cylinder block into the cylinder heads between each cylinder at the bottom as far as the part number there's a bunch of different ones that'll work
@dzperformance736019 күн бұрын
Sorry for not giving you a more direct answer but the head gasket I've been using on this motor is multi-layered steel that you would never use on the street I've been using it because I can reuse it over and over again for testing( well you might use it if you was running boost)
