at least 1300 rpm between peaks, that's pretty good. it begs the question of what's the head and cam combo are. is it a fairly big cam with lower flowing heads, or is it a smaller cam with really good heads. I'm guessing a 236° cam, maybe a 240° at .050 cam. how close am I?

You’re obviously a big block Chevy expert… I’m putting together a .030 Mark IV 454 that’s been decked, stock replacement pistons, 063 casting heads with 2.19/1.88 valves, around 9.5 to 1 compression, an air gap intake, an Erson 230/238 110lsa .630ish lift roller cam, along with headers. What kind of horse torques do you think I’ll make?

Be careful .630 lift with stock style pistons,,Is a lot But if everything works , you should beat this motor buy 10 to 35 ?? Just guessing depends on how good your head porter is

@@dzperformance7360 thanks, I am concerned about the piston to valve clearance too. It’ll be going together in a week or two… I’d love to flow these heads for giggles but there aren’t any flow benches anywhere near me.

I've been doing this for a long time and still don't understand why some heads don't flow that well but make good power and some heads flow great and don't do anything,, I've never used the casting number that you got.But nineteen sixty nine oval port heads should work well,, In my experience. So what I'm saying is head flows not always the only. Factor ,, Velocity compression ratio cylinder head intake volume,, It's all the factor and you never know till you put it on the dino or take it to the proveing grounds
