You deserve a Nobel Prize for sitting thru and actually paying attention to those first 3 John Yoko albums. You might be the first one in half a century!

This was so incredibly well made, thank you for sharing this. I also loved the shoutout to Patti Smith, I can see why she looked up to Dylan even before she met him

Your introduction to the Beatles is the same as mine. Even regarding listening to the anthologies! Those where my first own Beatles records.

Before Steve Jobs people didn’t depend on the things they bought to be their personal identity. Apple was the forerunner to making who you are what you buy and consume rather than your words and actions.

Well done on this detailed expose' Elliot and I soaked up every last detail you so cleverly laid out for us. Having spent 3+ hours with John recording The Final Interview the day he was taken away from us on December 8th, 1980, now I'm not embarrassed to also say that I weep up a little every time I hear this track.

Obsessed with you videos, Elliot. Harrison is definitely my favorite Beatle, so this was a treat! Would love to hear your thoughts on the new 50th anniversary release of Living in the Material World. Never was one of my favorite albums, but this re-release has got me reconsidering my ranking... Keep the vids coming. Cheers, mate!

IMO Still not convinced Cusack was the right fit. If he wasnt such a big name no way he woulda been cast, but it sells tickets I guess. Shoulda taken a punt on a relatively unkown actor, who looks and portrays Wilson more naturally, Michael Stuhlbarg has done similar work and looks a bit like Wilson, even the mouth. Or funnily enough John C. Reilly woulda been a good choice also. Other options, I think Giamatti may have been better in the Wilson role, has a history of similar deep character work and, if only slightly 'better' looking would have looked the part. Or possibly digitally aging Dano. If only Jeff Bridges was 15-20 years younger, he woulda been the best choice imo, if they had to go the star seller route. Same with Will Ferrel, if only he was younger and had more credit as a serious actor. They all look more like Wilson, if anything.

Random thing but a 1962 Gibson SG/Les Paul Standard that was owned by the Guitarist for Pete Best is for sale, totally random but it’s a cool piece of (Kinda) Beatles Historty

How about a "Series", maybe only one season of each album. Netflix, Max, Disney Plus. Kinda of like The Crown but each episode an album.

At 53, I love Weyes Blood because it’s something new that’s as good, if not better than the old. Titanic Rising is an absolute beaut! I agree with the elements you mention, but there is also a whiff of another favourite sound from the not as distant past and that’s Air. It’s like a warm elegance that makes you feel like you’re wrapped up in a really happy time that you don’t want to end too soon, maybe that’s nostalgia of a 70s childhood seeping through.

Just got home from their Seattle show tonight and needed to hear more. Watched a few excellent vids and came across this one. All I wanna say is, HELL YES! Absolutely amazing show, and I'll easily forgive not hearing my favorite (these words) - they jot only ripped thru their own tunes but gave us a note-perfect cover of Good Vibrations - wonderful. So, thanks Elliot for a perfect end to a memorable night.

When they first appeared there was a fair amount of hype and when that happens I tend dismiss out of hand because I've been disappointed most of the time. I've continued to see their name over the years but never took a sample. My mistake. A friend of mine, who's gist I trust, saw them last night and was blown away. Spent the last hour falling deeper into their spell. Appreciate this video. I'm all in. Thanx.

Steve Jobs was such a smart guy. So smart he had time to cure his cancer but died from it because he refused to listen to his doctors and did things his own way by eating a only fruit diet to cure it because he thought that was a good idea when a cure treatment already existed. Once the fruit diet failed he had wasted too much time and it was too late. Brilliant man.

I just don’t want a sanitized version of a Beatles biopic, I want to see them smoking spliffs in the bathroom of abbey road, I want to see John and George taking acid for the first time and then all of them taking it. I want to see John and yokos addiction struggles with heroin. That’s not to say I want the film to be all about these things, I want plenty of time devoted to in-studio recording sessions for each album, I want to see them working on a song and then casually say “this isn’t going anywhere, let’s save it for yellow submarine” I want to see them being goofballs, I want to see all of it, good and bad. But I refuse to watch a Disney channel original movie of the Beatles. It would be hard to do without spreading it across multiple films or even if they did it as a tv series, that may work better. Each episode could be about an hour long, each season being about a specific era or year or whatever. Idk it just seems like some artists just aren’t right for the biopic format because they have too much story to tell.

idk if this is at all a good idea, but im thinking there's potential of creating a mashup of both get back and let it be as a singular docuseries so that way we can get a full picture of this time for the band. again, i admit this idea might be trash, but still

i could imagine a vaguely chronological telling of the beatles story over 4 films - the early years from john's perspective (the eternal rocker and erstwhile leader of the band), beatlemania from ringo's perspective (the archetypal good time boy riding the waves of fortune), the studio years from george's perspective (covering the era he really began to emerge from the shadow of john and paul), and the declining years (from paul's perspective, where it seems he was the only one trying to keep the beatles together) - paul certainly deserves a central role for a change, his relationship (rivalry?) with john really drove the beatles and i've always thought he was mostly responsible for the beatles' longevity

We watched the Ashton Kutcher film (most of it at least) in my high school world history class and I didn’t really care for the film then. I recently watched the other film, and I prefer it so much. It’s a better film and is more accurate (so it seems to me)
