I realized this when I lived in Hollywood for ten years, there are hundreds, maybe thousands of great guitar players. In and around the L. A. music scene, in and around Nashville its the same scene. Stanley Clarke and Billy Sheehan are two of my personal favorites.

Very good selection, but I miss Barney Kessel one of the biggest jazz guitarists

I'm not going to hate on this because it's clear that you don't know what's out there. However, I will say that those two Epiphones don't belong on this list when the Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin and Montreal Premiere LTD exist. You might want to look at those two guitars. The 5th Avenue Kingpin is a pure jazz guitar with P90 pickups and the Montreal Premiere is more versatile but still jazz-oriented with TV Jones pickups. If you want to see true jazz guitar beauty just search for Montreal Premiere LTD Desert Blue with Bigsby and prepare to be shocked and amazed. You'll agree that it's one of the top-ten most beautiful jazz guitars ever made and its sound matches its looks.

This might be top-selling list but it sure isn't a top-quality list because Godin's quality rivals that of Fender and Gibson and its quality-control is superior to both. I do appreciate you having Godin on this list though, at least you know that Godin exists.

Subjective list, and it should be separated between acoustic and electric players. Needless to say, only the mighty Stanley Clark would be on both lists, for he continues to be the GOAT on acoustic bass.

A major part of jazz is chords. Many guitars sound fine with single notes but can get muddy with chords. You left all that out.

Very good list. I might have swapped out Green or Holdsworth for Larry Carlton and Al Di Meola . Though I do think that Holdsworth's work with Jean-Luc Ponty, especially on Enigmatic Ocean, was amazing.

Great list, but I would have put Mary Lou Williams in the mix before Duke Ellington. She was the creator of Jazz piano and the way it was played by a lot of/all the men listed.

Jeez, Clifford Brown gets no love. "At Basin Street" with Sonny Rollins, are you kidding me? I notice none of these lists mention Brownie. He was a better trumpet player than Miles, for sure.

When Clifford Benjamin "Brownie" Brown, Sr. was on stage, Miles didn't go anywhere near it, PERIOD!!! My family tree were historians!

...You are absolutely correct, Howard!!! Miles Dewey Davis III couldn't touch Birks, Maggie, Fat Girl, Brownie, K.D., Booker, Mogie, Hub, Art, Conte, Pete, Shorty, Quincy, et al. Even Chet had a very light, soft tone. However, Brownie was was at the peak of his career when he left us. As a teenage, Mogie (Edward Lee Morgan) cut Miles, PERIOD!!!
