Very nice review but still I can't decide between rf 24-70 2.8 and the rf 24-105 f4. Would like an all rounder for travel and family photos with my R6 I (also own rf 35 f1.8 and rf 70-200 f4). Any other thoughts or advice? Do you know if the 24-70 have noticeable better IQ (color, sharpness ) and better build quality? Thank you!

Thank you. I own and really like this f/4 lens and R5 body pairing even though I own the f2.8 RF holy trinity. I owned both the EF versions when I shot Canon DSLRs but obviously like the latest versions better. Wonder if Canon will ever consider creating a 24-120mm version like Nikon has. Take care.

Thanks for your great appreciation of this camera. I am an amateur and have a 60 D for quite a while. I read a lot about full frame cameras and five years ago got a chance of having a nearly brand new 1 ds mk 3 for 700 pounds. I grabbed it and still enjoy it. But the additional features of the 5D mk4 still bogs me.

I have the vivitar 3900 (potato masher) which I liked, back in the days. I liked the handle as you could easily carry it with your camera. I wish someone made a similar handle mount flash bracket that you could mount a speedlight on it. Something that would keep your flash and camera together but give you the option to detach the flash and lift it up.
@RoyRiley

@@GB-AK loved those old vivitars. I built something similar to what you mention a few years ago to cover a political conference. A bit heath robinson but it worked quite well. I’m sure profoto make something but it’s probably the price of a ride on lawnmower.

Fascinating video, thanks Roy. I am a hobbyist photographer who shoots mostly birds down by the river or in my back garden. I have a 90D and an R8. I absolutely love them both but I find it easier to get great shots with the R8, the eye detect auto focus is brilliant! I also struggle slightly to get the exposure spot on with the 90D, it’s usually a bit over or a bit under. The 90D has a canon 100-400L usm ii attached permanently where as the R8 now has the RF 200-800. I treat my 90D like a classic car now, I love using it but the R8 out performs it in all areas so has become my daily ‘Driver’.

@RoyRiley 10 күн бұрын
Only my opinion. There are lots of other flashes out there and ultimately we each have to find what is right for us and our own individual use. For me the 430 just does the job that I need it for. Small, light, easy. Effective. If what you have works well for you then that’s very cool. I’m sure that 600 packs a bit more of a punch but I have never needed more power than the 430 can deliver. Might pick up an el100 to play with as looks rather cool. Thanks for your comment. All just personal opinion! Many thanks. RR

Buen video.

I have had this lense for a couple of years on my slr and it has been amazing. And for close up portraits on my RP is also amazing. However. Shooting on an RP at 3m distance or more. On single point autofocus due to the model wearing sun glasses. It consistently front focused about a foot in front on every shot. A steep rf to ef learning curve. Next shoot will be manual af with zebra lines, or face af. The ef 50 1.4 has that issue also apparently. Yes the purple fringing is extreme at 1.8 and f2

Interesting view from a professional on how this lens is used and how it performs in a harsh environment. My version was also razor sharp. But in the end the f/2.8 was a little bit too heavy. The f/4.0 version I have now is also razor sharp and a lot lighter. But still, the f/2.8 is a great lens.

I have this lens on my R6 II. I always love this standard zoom. It works amazingly well in daylight/outdoors or good indoor lighting. Love it for street photography - in good daylight. I am thinking of selling it now and get the RF 24-70 2.8 because now I am doing a lot of tournament photography and I don't like how this lens work for that. Not fast enough. I got the RF 70-200mm 2.8 and wow what a difference!! I only had this lens for 6 months, but still having a hard time parting with it as the focal lengths on this is so good. The 2.8 version is too big and expensive. So I am torn, lol. I love this lens...

I've had my Nikon 50mm 1.4G since forever and as soon as I got my Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 then did my test shots, I couldn't help but notice that the Sigma @1.4 is actually sharper than my Nikon @2.8... It was such a game changer... I've had old SIGMA EX DG HSM primes and I never use them wide open unless I'm treading to a territory where I would get a blurry shot because of low shutter speed. Never watched a review before where I agreed with 100% of what was being said. First time for everything. Practical photography is where I’m at after 40 years of doing it. About to move to RF so will buy a body with this lens on it. The old EF one dropped onto a church floor, I put it back together myself, kinda works. My 70-200 2.8 got hit by a baseball just last week. Carried on working but I think the autofocus might be out a smidge. Need to test. I love that lens, only have the II but it’s a great sports lens. Thinking is it’ll be in the real world in August. The eye thing has been counted in and out multiple times. Sensor sounds like a big step up. The rumour merchants think it’ll be around 20% more than the release price of the original. Due to shifts in currency. Be interesting to see what price of R5 stock does.
